Back from my brief time in the southwest, and I spotted some ultimate BL van shite.......... There is still alot of tat down there, we struggled to keep up with some old beardo in his LXi MKII Astra estate on the A303. Even a newish Passat couldnt catch him.

That sign's great. What made me grin was heading to Millfield Autoparts in Peterborough for a new battery for the Renault. Took the old one with me, and that was good as their book was wrong. A quick chat amongst themselves and they get me the right one, then pull off the peculiar battery terminal things that my Renault seems to have a took the old battery away.I get back home, connect it up and for the first time in my ownership, the Renault starts on the key. After a warning from Mr Reno, I let it run to full operating temperature and nervously awaiting the cooling fan. It kicked in exactly when it should. Excellent!MoT booked for Tuesday, so here's hoping for more grinning...

Belkin. In a world of fucking hopeless companies and non-existant after care Belkin are superb.Nothing is a problem, they'll stay on the 'phone for hours (local call rate) and are friendly, polite and very helpful.I don't care that the calls seem to terminate in India, you can hear them fine, their English is very good and they're very polite.

I had assumed that by now the building will have succumbed to redevlopment as its near the city centre of Manchester. SOmone on R-R asked where it was so while respondig I Google Earthed it. Not only is it still there it has been refurbished (turned into flats I think) while retaining all the lettering and doodads on the outside.

I am extremely annoyed with my college. They simply do not know how to teach and dont have the resources to cope with as many automotive courses that they offer. We have to deal with missing tools and promises of money broken all the time. just last month a Cavalier in Basingstoke with an ideal engine sold for £180 and I told them and showed them, yet nothing happened. But anyway, I'm writing the project diary and I've decided to have a massive go at them in the opening paragraph. They want us to be honest, they can have it.

Cheers gents had a bloody great day as it goes, even at work. Must be my age but the missus and kids got me one of those teasmaid things that wakes you up with an alarm and a nice cuppa and I'm chuffed to bits.RP I shall look forward to your tales, sir!

Do they do a coffee version of those? I can't abide tea.

I don't think they make a Vodka distillery one unfortunately

What I tend to do is fill my glass with a slightly larger measure of spirits when I'm having my last one, because then I'll doze off with some remaining in the glass and I won't want to waste it when I wake up in the morning. I think of it as a Teasmade for slightly flaky people.

I use an ordinary Asda basics coffee percolator (£6) with a timer switch. Set the time to come on before you get up, hot fresh coffee when your alarm goes off.
