He was due to start filming a documentary on crashed aircraft apparantly.

Had my first post-cambelt-change drive of the Rover and it's surprisingly smooth and effortless to drive now.  It's lovely and feels well worth the effort.  Tomorrow my new plug leads and alternator belt arrive which should improve things even further.

Penultimate day off, so me, Mrs B and the hire car went to the beautiful Bodnant garden (for her) then drove 150ish miles round the 'Evo triangle' from Betws-y-Coed, through Snowdonia, past Dolgellau and Bala and back home (for me). Superb!!

That's Gerry Lloyd's handiwork. I met him earlier this year for a feature in MG Enthusiast. Here are some more shots.

 

BMW 4-Series roof, merged onto an MG ZT.

 

Interior is a mixture of 75 and BMW. Note door shuts, which work around hinge points for the rear doors (still there, but now part of the structure).

 

He also made this. Note the 75 Tourer opening rear window and the fact that all the brightwork is in oak.

 

He also made this, which I had a drive of. Very, very strange and the wipers work at both ends!

There was a prototype found in Longbridge. A 75 estate, jacked up with AWD and plastic cladding, Audi Allroad style.

That coupe is the car Rover/MG should have made.

Some very bad news has meant I've been doing a lot of driving recently...  the BX has quietly managed to rack up 2000 miles in the last 11 days without FTP or other drama I could well do without. I am very grateful  - both to the old heap itself, and to the legion of previous benevolent 'shiter owners who have helped it to live this long.

+1 on Gerry Lloyd's 75 Coupe being a stunningly beautiful car - and the skill and effort that must have gone into it is humbling.

It belongs to a friend of mine who has spent the last 12 years building and fettling it. It's a replica of course, but a good one, and it's all sorts of fabulous - looks, noise, oomph, impracticality, atmosphere, little bits of lovely engineering.
