Today at college when after 4 weeks of trying to do some good basic welds, i manage to do both perfectly. (apparently the best in class) Im determind to get this welding part of the course done really well, and ever since I had to stop about 3 hours ago, ive just wanted to do more and more.

I'm sure there would be plenty of people around here willing to let you do a bit

Met one of my boyhood heroes last night. Used to play for the team I support, he was at a charity bash along with some other ex-players.It was like meeting royalty and he posed for a few pictures and talked with my daughter and I.

I was today told I have got a job. My job.A shitty situation, but good news and I'm smiling as a result.

I was surprisingly untwitchy until I walked into the room, then I started bricking it - job hunting in a recession a month before Christmas? Erm, no thanks! Also a fair few of the people in before me didn't get the job they were after, and considering they put me through the wrong interview process, I started to get nervous.I've taken a fairly whacking pay cut, but oh well. It's a job, right? And they've actually recognised the level of work I do and my job title starts with the word "Senior" :)

Good stuff, Pillock.Brammy, have you tried a lighter shade in the mask? I found that a great help, although I have to admit, when you get that first weld right, you just wanna do more!

Paycut=pisser but at least you're still in work. Uncertainty prevails at our gaffe due to supposed take-over but I reckon it'll be worse if it stays in current hands.Back to what makes us grin:Been reading the Adrian Mole books again recently and even though I skipped one book I still find them incredibly well written and very funny.

I went down to London today to visit m'colleague Mr E Leyland - whilst we were strolling around Highgate we bumped into Ray Davies from The Kinks. I love The Kinks & Ray Davies is a bloody legend. Made my day that did.

I was told last week that the lab I work in is closing, but not to worry, coz they've offered me a crappy job in the factory! Means getting up at 04.30 and doing a job I don't want in a place I don't want to be. Oh good, that's ok then.

Bought a new starter motor for the MG during the week after changing the water pump and having to replace a whole head (after rebuilding head), and ending up spending 8 times the amount that I had intended to. The car started and it runs like a new car. The bit I'm happy with is not having to spend the winter shoulder deep in an MG engine bay cursing like a sailor's parrot.

I got my HB to start first time today, and spent the afternoon washing the oil marks off it (oil marks needed in order to make it start first time) so i am chuffed to bits :D

I posted up a link to my road test scans earlier on pistonheads, Not a site i use that often due to the amount of idiots sprouting out rubbish and hated for anything over 3 years old and under 2800 cc and without a turbo. But i had a comment a short while ago from one chap who said he was so pleased with the scans I've done that he's offered to donate £5 to a charity of my choice.Thought that was a really kind gesture, whether he does or not i don't mind, at least he offered, Hopefully East Anglian Air Ambulance which get a few quid out of it.

That's a bloody nice bloke, right there Trig. Good work. In fact, balls to it, send me a link and I'll lob a fiver in for that and all.

EAAA was our work Christmas charity of choice last year. The company has been doing this for a few years now - stopped sending corporate Christmas cards and donated what they would have spent to a charity voted for by staff.

What is making me grin at the moment is this:

It's a bottle of German bitters produced in Thüring, and it was given to me as a "thank you" by the German chap who bought my P6. I've only just got round to opening it. It's making me grin for two reasons: firstly it's not bad stuff - a bit like Chartreuse but far less sweet'n'sticky and with a bit more of a kick to it - and secondly it's tangible proof that not all purchasers of classic cars are complete twunts. :)

Cheer Trig. Just bunged a fiver in the directon of the EAAA, hopefully they never have to scrape me out of some fen-land dyke (insert wit here) , but as I am in that part of the world often, you never know. :)

Rustle, rustle, clang, ping, scrunch, thud squeek.WTF was that? Ah, four kittens climbing the Christmas tree! One made it almost to the top, tried to grab the fairies legs and then fell directly on to another on the floor  Missus is doing her nut. Everytime she tidies up they roll through the house like a whirling dervish destroying everything in sight, climbing curtains, try to get to get to my fish and then attempt the big one: piggy back rides on our narkey old tom cat :D

Brilliant.Kittens & Christmas trees/decorations are a bad mix!

We still don't have a christmas tree because one of our cats will undoubtedly go nuts and destroy it. And he's seven now  Here's the naughty kitty in question...

Our other one is thirteen and much more sensible. She thinks he's an idiot and occasionally takes a swipe at him when he becomes too much, which usually results in her getting a pasting. They do get on most of the time though...

Had a call from my lad before. He'd got out of the house and a few hundred yards away when he felt something move in his ruck sack.

Here's what it was...

She's back at home now apparantly hanging off the side of the fish tank.

Christmas tree highest climber of the weekend...
