Today I broke my 'no more project' new years resolution and took a little jaunt up the M1. I took this, I don't own a prat navpost-19511-0-95731400-1515796238_thumb.jpg

Upon reaching my destination I found two autoshiters and one chap who is so autoshite he doesn't know itpost-19511-0-77580500-1515796331_thumb.jpg

This posh Allegro was loaded onto my trailerpost-19511-0-43691300-1515796381_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-95310300-1515796408_thumb.jpg

A fairly uneventful journey with very little of interest on the way other than this old 240 I followed for milespost-19511-0-93986500-1515796473_thumb.jpg

Not a good photo but I tried. This truck was owned by Allegro Transport Ltd!post-19511-0-42745200-1515796562_thumb.jpg

Had a good day. Nice to meet you both and a big thanks to Jim for all your efforts in helping everyone with these cars and parts.

Max is a decent chap too, recommended seller!

Now I need another Allegro for spares. This sounds familiar...

Looks like an early VP, it will be a worthwhile project. I have 3 old stock doors for these, can check if it's the dented side if needed.

Nice one. Allegro looks pretty decent really too.

Yes it seems quite solid. The paint isn't very good though. Picture a fat girls arse that is covered in stretch marks and has been slapped repeatedly. That is what the paint finish looks like!

Thanks but you know that you won't have the n/s/r...

Neither back door will open

I like the sound of that! This one has a knackered autobox. I'm after a running one that I can just swap the engine and box over. Doesn't matter what spec it is, am happy to convert to manual if needed.

That allegro looks ace, what's the story with it?

Ask djimbob.

He has an interesting collection tale from when he bought it several years ago

most vanden plas 1500 (or 1750's for that matter) got these little tables in the back of the seats, these been the plah in vanden plas.

BUT, the cars made in the first year, or so, of the vanden plas 1500 didn't have the tables, instead they had a map pocket in the back of each front seat instead,

VdP based on series 1 Allegro (pre October 1975) = pockets

VdP based on series 2 (and series 3) Allegro (post October 1975) = tables

I donated all my spare doors to the owner's club last year, but I should be able to get one back at little/no cost it you get stuck.  Let me know if interested.

Seems like more legroom in that than a Ryanair flight.
