Went over to Maidstone this morning to look at this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-Austin-maestro-turbo-diesel-prima-breaking-/262320690925?hash=item3d138816ed:g:60kAAOSwu1VW2sK~

I spent about three hours there, and had quite a haul in the back of the Somerset by the time I'd finished.

N/S/R door.

All side glass.

Rear seatbelts, including the lapbelt, although I'm not sure if the captive nuts are there for it.

Front indicators

Heater pipes and matrix.

Both washer pumps.

Wiper motor.

Plus loads of little trim bits that are either missing or broken on mine.

Not bad considering it's a much later car with a different engine/interior!

The engine has been sold, the tailgate, wiring loom and dashboard have also gone, in addition to the bits I've had. The interior is partly stripped but didn't look bad - although I have one of the doorcards attached to the door I bought. The other three doors were pretty rotten unfortunately, and the bumpers weren't any better than mine.

On the way back I dropped the heater pipes off with the chap doing the work on it, so that will hopefully speed things along on that front!

I am now back down to one car, and have a big wad of cash instead of a stupid green German 'sporty' moneypit.

Two of my cars are now non functioning, despite me not driving either of them. 2cv needs a hazard switch to make the indicators work ( hopefully) and the X1/9 is suffering from italianitis to the starter.

Seat belt mounts will be there on the Maestro - compulsory from quite early on to have the mounts, sometime in the sixties I think.

What did you use on the roof of the caravan? I do mine once a year, hate the job but the green always comes back.

Hot water with a drop of bleach. Let it soak, then a soft brush, rinse well then some car polish on it.

I'm in the Peak District for a few days, having a break from that there London. Today I met up with dink of this parish in Glossop to deliver the brake bits I collected down south for him. He kindly bought me lunch as thanks, then I headed off for a drive along the Snake Pass and a stroll along the banks of Upper Derwent reservior.

This is the only pic I took as been too busy Clelanding.

Because I'm hopeless, the knackered OS droplink still isn't fixed so is clonking like fuck, but the Vectra is still a flippin' great drive on the relatively traffic free roads around here. Averaging 38mpg too if the trip computer can be trusted. Mind you the headlights are woeful, even worse than the Cavalier's. So in that respect Voxhalls really are shit.

If I'd known I'd have stood out in the street and waved at you.

Currently sat on the skydeck at the top of the Willis tower in Chicago. Best wifi I've had so far. Oh yeah, and the view's not bad either.

Disappointingly little chod in Chicago sadly - everything's modern and hybrid. Seen the odd battered 90s Buick or Accord and bin lorries which appear to be rebadged Ford Cargos, but that's about it.

I thought the hazard switch worked on a different circuit to the indicators. I know that seems odd considering it's the same flasher can and lamps.

I'm not sure there was ever a requirement to have rear seat belt mountings until 1987, when rear seat belts had to be fitted.

I thought Glossop rang a bell, should have realised a shiter lived there. I'll definitely be back in the future so would be good to see the SD1!

The weather is always grim - its the Windy city.

Me too,but it doesn't work anymore and crunching it together makes the indicator tell tale flash properly so I'm giving it a go. Indicators work properly anyway, it's just the tell tales that don't.

Just sitting here in a BMW dealership waiting for my car to be done. It'll be washed and hoovered. About time too, I left it so as I knew ot would get a complimentary wash 'n' hoover.

Gosh, I feel like someone who actually has money.

All new BMWs seem to have the same dashboard set up, very uniform, but the interiors are nice, comfy and very insulating.

I've put the Dyane up for sale. Reluctantly, but it was always only a fill-in for the 2CV. Now that project is ambling along nicely, I need to focus on it. Which mostly means turfing the Dyane out of the garage and trying not to spend any money on it.

Of course, this may leave enough money for me to buy something a little more modern to piss about with, and there are a few contenders at the moment!

I to hate door dings. Think i might make the autoshite version. Ducktape and pipe lagging. I will name them FUDD. Feck you door dings.

Cheaper solution that looks exactly the same:  gaffer tape some pipe lagging to the doors.

EDIT:  GAH!  Shumarialto beat me to it!
