There's no right and wrong with that one, depends entirely on the nature of your friendship with him

If it's not the model and colour you want, then there's your get out clause........

Yes, he is a 'true' friend. Love the bloke dearly and even though we have had some huge disagreements over the years (usually cars or money... or both!) we have always stayed friends.

I know he does it, he always has. Normally, I can ignore it, but right now, I guess I'm just pissed off with people trying to 'have me over'. It happens a lot currently, but then, I guess if you are going to act flash (with a big green dollop) you deserve everything you get.

Oh well, if the car is any cop, I'll have it and let him have his 'shilling' and just ignore it as usual.

It's really funny (read: I'm a seriously odd and fucked up person) but I will actively pay over the odds to a business to help keep them going (shop round the corner is an example: I don't use them a lot any more but was actively going there for all sorts rather than a supermarket as he/they were struggling to begin with and I really liked him/them and the fact that there's a little corner shop for emergencies! I even lent him the money to help him get card payments sorted out as he was 'cash only' and I thought that was harming his chances of making it.) and never object to businesses making a quid or two, it's all very well buying everything from eBay/Amazon but small independents need our support. It's just friends taking the piss that I object to.

There, now I've proved what a 'lovely' chap I am..... :)

Half the fun is getting in, getting out is easy, just roll onto the floor, I always did with my old MX5!

A couple of years ago , I'd got a job in the evening driving a long standing lady client to a reception at the Palace of Westminster. I drove her there in her Arnage Red Label, waited patiently by College Green for her return at about 11, she comes out with a Lady ( actual title) of a certain age and statuesque proportions ,dressed in elegant evening attire ,complete with ( undoubtedly real) fur. Apparently we were giving her a lift.

On the journey out of town it transpired this Lady lived between my client's house and mine, so it was decided I'd drop her off on my way home......

It wasn't until the Arnage's headlamps swept across the drive and picked out the rusty mk1MX5 that I remembered I'd driven there in my daughter's car and not my CLS.

Great hilarity was had squeezing Her Ladyship in, she removed the fur and asked me to put it in the boot- it only just went in. Im 6'3" and the wrong side of 20 stone,so for the 15 minute journey I was closer to her than I think any commoner had been before.when getting her out I was pleased to note the Aristocracy favour stockings over tights.

Half the fun is getting in, getting out is easy, just roll onto the floor, I always did with my old MX5!

Mismatched panels, rusty wipers, shit wheels, dinged bumper, moronic number plate font.....

That car would either cost your man a fortune or drive him insane or both.

Already seen that one and given it an official 'swerve'! They are about but I really want to see it before I buy, I have a really strong hatred of rust and I am told (though I find it hard to believe :)  ) that MX5s like to corrode a tad!

In more promising news, I have now seen pictures of the MK2 that my mate is on about.... it does look a cracker. It even has loads of wood trim - I would feel quite at home in it! :) It is that really nice metallic green that they did not BRG which I do not like. However, still no news on price or miles or MOT or indeed anything, but the wait is part of the fun.... right?

I've finally decided it's time to part with my old Dynatron radiogram.  I got a fair offer on it and it's going to a good home.  I'll miss it because it's a lovely bit of kit but I've had to accept the fact it's just too big for this house and I only really need a record player.  The replacement has been acquired in the form of a Ferguson HF-25 (I gain a tape deck which the Dynatron didn't have).  I can't afford a fancy record player and there seem to be some sort of OSF style tax on them these days so in my budget there's not much choice.  Ferguson electricals have never let me down in the past and been of moderately good quality and since I can still get spares if it needs anything it should do the job.  So there ya go, bit of Audioshite for you.

I resisted making an offer on the Wren record player that caught my eye because it was miles away.  I also resisted the plethora of very stylish record players out there that are lovely to look at because of the daft price tags even broken ones have.  Gone, it seems, are the days when I could pick up a reasonable player and a pair of adequate speakers from my local charity shop for a quid.

Haven't seen an actual record player in the flesh for years.

Just been and got pics. 200k-ish on the clock, cambelt and water pump done last year, needs a drivers window. Dog rough but I hate to see a healthy dog put down.711e985b043d82ece5a1f498340dcb54.jpg6c856c0c78939c591d4e416a4ae21d8b.jpgd600685253a82cd240681b2a2b390651.jpg7512398cf68513b10e6fa428f941031f.jpg

Wow that's grim.

Does it have PAS out of interest?

It's got nothing. I don't even think it has demisters.

I always forget Peugeot trim designations, 'GR' is low rung aye.

Miss_Peel likes 205s but it would really need to have PAS for her crap wrists, especially one with an XUD.

Another new master cylinder should be arriving today for the Plymouth. I've been struggling mightily to get the disc brake conversion to work and get a good firm brake pedal without excessive pedal travel. I've tried 3/4", 7/8", 1" bore master cylinders and now finally a 1 1/8" bore.

I had to add some additional bracing to the pedal assembly as it was flexing when the pedal was pushed firmly. Looks like the PO cut away some of the assembly when installing it.

Mrs DF is away on business today so I should have time to get it bench bled and installed before she gets home.

If this doesn't work I'm out of cheap options to fix it and next up is $400 Wilwood brake calipers something which I'm keen to avoid.

Believe it or not XE/GE(?) spec was even more minge bag - no passenger mirror, no internal mirror adjustment, no headrests, no rear wiper.

Smart big tri axle coach broke down outside work. Nice chap asked if he needed a phone or anything. Apparently the coach thinks a door is open and all the brakes are stuck on and he can't move. Shame, he is a long way from home.

OMGSNOCAOS at work today. Ditched work early as the fluffy white stuff was coming down thick and fast and my Chinese all season tyres do not aid in driving in such conditions.

On my 13 mile (45min) drive I encountered three stuck lorries, two cars in ditches and five cars stuck on the road (and one partridge in a pear tree).

I paused at Aberchirder to take a photo:

Another 15 miles (25mins) later I took another photo, just outside Cullen where I live:
