Yeah, I think it's the Personal Line interior upgrade. I'm going through the brochure, man I've fallen on my feet with this car - there's loads of extra spec: Sunroof, Harman Kardon sound, I think it has the Xenon pack too as there are headlamp washers. I get the keys tomorrow so will find out exactly what I've bagged!

Oops. Accidentally flattened the battery on the FOR SALE HINT HINT Prelude by leaving the interior light on...

Tiny pack to the rescue!

I'd even left it in the car. How convenient is that? So, despite the tiny pack being really cold, it still just about managed to start a 2-litre Prelude. It didn't catch first time, as the cranking speed is (unsurprisingly) a little lower, but it went second time. Job done.

Took the Prelude for a drive to give it a proper chance to charge. I really do like it. CONFLICTED. Drinks more than an XM, is far less practical than an XM, is far less comfortable than an XM, but I think it's actually nicer to drive. I adore the gearbox. And the "melt your face" heater.

it looks to me that the fake wood in the rover 75 above is the "real" wood dash from the earlier cars, and not the coloured plastic that the

project deprive cars got.

well bought sir!

Sorry i forgot they even got a real wood dash! Very nice.

If the XM's managed to stay this long it must have something about it that would make you regret selling it more than the Honda. And the comfort factor isn't one to be underestimated, it's not like British roads are suddenly going to improve any time soon.

That Rover 75 interior is wonderful, stepping back in time into a gentlemans exclusive club, you just don't get colour combinations like that anywhere, well bought sir.

What make of pack is that Ian?  I'm after one but am wondering whether to go for some cheap 20 quid shite, or a Bestek booster which comes recommended and is around £50.

I've no idea of the make. It doesn't seem to have one. It's one of the cheapo Ebay jobbies. I paid just over £30 IIRC. I doubt mine would start the XM if the battery was flat, so check the specs. £50 one might be better. It is a bloody useful thing though. I use it a lot to charge the phone, and the torch is superbly bright.

This is the one I bought, I have only used it once when the Mercedes 500 SEC had a low battery and would not turn over. It worked a treat.

But son wants a Volvo v70 or s60. Cos they are luxury and cost loads when new. His last excellent 850 Volvo lasted a full week before it blew up. It was lovely mind , but so is my couch and that don't move either.

Just to assist you here, I have an S60 in a good spec with a top-quality squeak-free interior and I'm gnawing at the desk in envy over that Rover 75.

Thanks chaps.  I'll give that 30 quid one a go, will be using it for the Daimler as I drained the battery trying to start it recently (the old girl is very reluctant in this cold weather!)

This has been hanging around our yard for ages it's the gaffers daughters (she don't want it). It's a 207 gt.

He wanted something daft like 1500 for it. It's the crap 1.6hdi donk. Is it worth a punt if I can get it cheap.

Here it is being jumped by the best van in the world.

New* topgear has gone back in time  :-D

The white Rialto has been up for sale with no roof for years on Gumtree for £1200  What's funny is have a look at the mot history. Massive fail list this week

I was prepared to give the Chris Evans Top Gear a chance, listening to the shit he was talking this morning on the radio , and he's blown that chance.

I don't think he quite called them Robin Reliants( unlike today's Standard story) but he obviously knows Fuck All about any cars other than his precious Ferraris.

Examples of some of the bollocks ' we go near to the factory in Stafford ' and my favourite " in 1979 a Robin cost £9,000 " WTAF?

Keep LeBlanc, Harris and Shmitz- get rid of token unknown ethnic minority, Chris Evans, Eddie Jordan and Stig and aim to be a bigger budget 5th Gear.

Wonder if they will go the the housing estate in Tamworth. I went when i was down last year, sad i know. Did he call them Robins on the radio? Funny if he did there both Rialtos.

In the interests of balance, the challenge was read out with "Reliant Robins", he had not seen either vehicle at that point.

Also, he did almost say "Robin Reliant" but then corrected himself.

I don't believe any of us are in a position to judge new new Top Gear until we've seen the first few episodes.

No, clearly we can judge the whole lot off a remark that Chris Evans might or might not have said.

As someone who could quite happily watch hours upon hours of people who share a degree of interest in cars as myself review boring, mundane everyday tripe, I am hoping the new TG is as down-to-earth as it can be with the presenters chosen, and am looking forward to it.

All the hate is simply people fearful of unknown change to their Sunday night routine of being a couch-slob. :-D

I admit that Chris Evans winds me up generally, but as I'm an old fart and haven't currently got a car with DAB, I find myself listening to him a lot.

Whenever he talks about cars, he winds me up even more. The recent last Defender radio programme was chock full of inaccurate rubbish, but as he's a petrolhead* everyone accepts it.

At least 2 of the gang of 3 were knowledgable and experienced car journalists.

Saying all that, I rarely watched Top Gear and doubt that will change , at least till its on Dave in a couple of years.

heres one of the cars,in a pretty mint state, before their destruction of it

 i saw that one one on Joe's site. He wanted good money for it. What a fecking waste. At least the other one was a bucket to start.

Why buy a good example to wreck it, there are plenty tatty ones about.
