Or better still let me drive it for them, they used to drive them out to Le Mans all the time, fair play though for letting people see it.

I once saw..

^^ Didn't I see in the news that a new planet had recently been discovered in our solar system? TooSavvy is not an alien!

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust folk often drive their rarities about. I was astonished after the NEC one year when I overtook NUB 120 on the A45. In my 2CV! Not sure if the JDHT own that one though.

NUB 120's now in the BMM's Collections Centre; I reckon JDHT have it.

NUB has always been in the JDHT's collection. I'm not sure about the D-Type though.

i wonder if the d-type on the trailer was a"real" one as suffolk (?) jaguar do a replica which is pretty close to the real thing.

I'd be surprised if a couple of million pounds worth of DType was transported on an open trailer pulled by a Land Rover.

I was sceptical of taking this from Perth to Goodwood on an open trailer, and it was plastic bodied, E-type engined, but, interestingly built on an unused XKD tub that didn't get built into an XKSS, and was displayed in Ecurie Ecosse's premises until this was built in the mid 70s.

The customer didn't want to pay the extra for covered transport.

To be fair, it towed down really well on the back - low and light and I hate towing this with a passion:-

A few weeks ago I was driving about with my tablet showing all kinds of data off a £4 bluetooth OBD dongle (honestly it's amazing everyone should have one) and I had a screen up showing throttle angle.

screenshot.jpg

I've always found this car hard work to drive. Loads of power and an over sensitive throttle - In the wet it's a nightmare to pull out. Going over bumps made the car kangaroo even if you tried to me super careful.

So I looked at what the throttle pedal was doing and it went from 0% to 100% in the first 2cm of travel. The other 7cm does nothing. No fuckin wonder it was a ballache!

It's had a remap which ups it to 200bhp, but since they aren't mega gains the bloke who did the maps has made the throttle MEGA sensitive so that the car feels like a rocket. "Oh I'm barely touching the throttle and it's flipping shifting" mindgames - just a trick to make the power gains seem more than they really are.

TBH the stock 180bhp is shitloads more than enough in a little car so why am I fucking about with putting 60% more boost through it and loads of fuel and stuff just for another 10%? Anyway I got a spare ECU and found a stock file off the internet and flashed it back to normal (again with £7 ebay chinese gear)

It's like a different car - So much smoother and less stressful to drive - It's weird how your brain will mask faults like a ludicrously sensitive throttle pedal until they're fixed.

The weird thing is that it seems to be much quieter on the motorway - holding the same speeds on the same stretch of motorway it's boosting less (80mph cruise control up the hill from M1 29A to 30 it's at zero, whereas before it would be 2-4PSI) so I presume that's related to the ignition timing, I dunno.

Did a deal. Actually made some money. New shite arrives tomorrow! 100 internets if you can guess what it is (it's weird and French, obvs)

If it's a Monica I'll probably have to be airlifted to some penile reconstruction emergency clinic following cataclysmic over-onanism.

If that D-Type is a replica, someone's gone to a lot of trouble to make it look like XKD505, so unless it's for a film or something.i I can't see the point.

The Defender towing it didn't appear to belong to JLR, it was too old and on a short private plate - - RN or W , I think

It does seem very unlikely it's the real thing , I agree.

Not sure what the going rate is these days, but alas I don't think I could quite stretch to a Monica. I'd flippin love one though

That E-Type belongs to Gaynor Cauter , who writes about it and her and her partner's other Jags in Classic and Sportscar.

Someone crashed in Pa_Sterlings Avensis Estate a couple of weeks back. Not a good time for us owning Black estates it seems :( are they invisible or summat?

Insurance company are writing the car off. Hope pa gets a better deal than I did. It was a nice car (although it looked like a Belgian taxi being Black)

I think he will as he is off to see a '09 Volvo V50 eDrive (?).

Those Volvo drivE things are the 1.6 TDI PSA exploding lumps of crap aren't they? Same as Focus.

At the beer shop the other day.

As beko says, an insight nice, missing it's badge though..

Tbh the e-type is relatively common verses the insight and I know which one will be more then likely saved* from the crusher

Day off today, rain may delay play.

Octavia's temp gauge still playing the yo-yo. No EML, so suspect the thermostat's jiggered. Job #1

Scirocco not been run in a month. Needs coil replacement and a warm up. Job #2

Someone's brave leaving a Cortina parked on the street at night, or has that big race happened already?

At 9:22 this morning the last Defender rolled off the production line.

3 out of 5 cars now working.

Changed dizzy cap on the 340 and it runs great now.

Also rebuilt the 360's master cylinder and bled the brakes with Nisfan on pedal duty.

I did buy one of those vacuum gizmos but we found it was easier to just do it how I normally do it.

I can breathe now...

If anyone needs a first class trimmer for their heap, check out: C A Upton. They have a page on facebook but the work they do is amazing! Lot's of posh Jaguars in their workshop having seats made from scratch. I have had a few really pleasant conversations with Joe Upton this week as they are doing a (tiny) bit if work for me on the dollop.

They have done it and including courier back the charge is £66 when I was expecting £90 plus!

Say I sent ya' as I expect to use them again and want a discount! :)

So as the PT is seemingly reliable and as the Saab has yet to sell it has been evicted from the garage and Vanden Rex has been rolled in .... let the work commence....   :)

That mk3 is a mate of mines, did your mrs take that picture in stoke or was it a bit further afield?
