Got a proper Scandiwegian spot light bracket from a friend in Norway for no monies! Fitted a pair of Hella something or others (I forget the model name) to it and I'm chuffed with how it looks.

Where does the bracket mount? I really wanted to do a similar thing with the Nissan but it had no obvious mounting points on the bumper, at least not structural ones!

I think it looks ace, especially in the winter and with mood lighting!

It mounts behind the numberplate. If you're lucky your existing number plate screws will match holes that are in the bracket but it's not too much hassle if they don't. Take the plate off, put the bracket on it, mark a pair of holes, drill the plate, attach it with original screws, mark bumper with the new holes in the plate and drill the bumper.

Not successful in Streetwise TD purchase, could have been but I don't see budgeting more than £250 on a high miles unknown as a safe bet.

Today I did something I have not done for a long time-I just went out for a drive with no reason to do so. Just for the enjoyment (B roads only) of driving my newly purchased Saab. £400 well spent I think.

Anyone know how much a sump drop and PCV6 fitment should cost (still buggered knees mean I can't do it myself)?

I think that the 607 has disgraced itself.  Coolant is going down and it looks like steam coming out of the exhaust.  It is using a litre of coolant about every 400 miles or so.  It isn't pressurising the cooling circuit though.

I suppose that there is the faint possibility that the EGR cooler is leaking water in the exhaust manifold (through the EGR valve) but I suspect that the head bolts have stretched as they always seem to do on all the Peugeot diesels that I have owned.

The problem with the 16 valve HDI is that they have very long injectors which go through holes in the inlet manifold, and you can't get to the head bolts until the inlet manifold is off.  If any of the injectors stick into the head then the engine (and probably the whole car) is then scrap.

It has never overheated but it has done over 170,000 miles now.

Remember this from the eBay tat thread the other day?

This is winking at me, though.  900 Turbos seem to be on the up and this looks like a decent one without being stupid money.

900s are such gorgeous cars and right up there on my bucket list.  See 'plans for 2016' thread for why I should resist, however.

£3995, 87k, 2 owners, looks gorgeous.  I was all set to go and buy it tomorrow, but have been gazumped.

Plan was to ditch the modern and go shite-only for my 15-20k annual motorway mileage with a fleet consisting entirely of cars at least a quarter of a century old plus a slightly shagged Discovery that's only 17 (Jeep is rented out to someone else).

I'm disappointed and relieved in equal measure.

The XM has gone for it's MOT, needs a patch on the sill and then should piss*it no problem.

Silver Swift has successfully been piloted to the MOT station. Amazingly NOBODY batted an eyelid at the very mouldy car being driven on the road. I was totally inconspicuous. There is a bit of vibration through the steering wheel, it's not quite on straight either and it wasn't giving me much confidence in the front end. I don't know what the off-centre wheel/vibration will be down to and the lack of confidence might be due to a rubber something that's perished or maybe the fact it's running tyres made in Serbia AND Montenegro.

In some respects it drives better than the blue one; the clutch and throttle pedals are both lighter and the gear change feels a lot tighter. It's also taught me that there is absolutely no reason for these things to have power steering. Feels nippier too somehow!

Took the Justy out in the snow. It felt nicely sure-footed despite wearing only 'NingNangNong' budget tyres.

I didn't know you had a Justy mouseflakes ... I must say it does look rather fetching.

My current winter car is the Sera, a 26yr old fwd automatic with snow tyres (£37 for the set, ebay Bini cast offs).

The silver Swift passed with no advisories! Only thing wrong is that the oil filter is corroded, not enough to be an advisory.

WINNING.

Edit: Proof!

I love it when I see all of that kind of machine work and have to admit that I wouldn't have a fucking clue.

Oldsmobile needs a proper resto thread, not these frustrating snippets :) C'mon man, just do it. Piccies too!

Still no work done on the Oldsmobile due to weather, but costs mounting up! Just added up the total spend in parts and it is a lot! Including purchase and delivery now stands at £830!

Never mind. I don't play golf or go to football matches etc, so spending money on my particular hobby isn't any more a waste of money than that would be.

It will be worth it to me when it is finally on the road again. It is what I enjoy!

Kan haz Corshit C 1.0. Bought it for my bird, as initially she was dead against me getting her a car, but eventually gave in as long as I "didn't spend too much money". I have fixxored the radio (power button) and the busted door handle (cunt of a job). Well, it's fucking DIRE. Barely enough grunt to get out of its own way, doesn't stop all that well, steers OK but is generally an bit grim.

2006 BINI EIN arriving, in it's stead, on Friday.

Took the Rolls for it's mot today as the weather wasn't too bad and we haven't seen much salt so far this winter. It went straight through with the same advisories for brake discs as last year. Done the grand total of 1086 miles in the last year so won't bother doing them for another few years.

Intresting, the guide triangle on my 500SEC pops off regularly. The full change progress story will be interesting.

Absolutely fuming tonight. needed to get some fuel in the E38, on trying to get into it I noticed some cunt has crashed into it today -

I'm not happy because this car is (sorry, was) totally immaculate. Initially, I thought somebody had reversed along the side of it but actually looking at the state of the arch and how far along onto the drivers door the damage go's, it looks as though somebody has hit it head on. Explanations - how the fuck do you hit a car on this road set up?

Anyway, used the Civic to trip down into Barnsley and back with work, ticked over onto 100k on the way down. Shock horror, better scrap it now as it will be past it.

It's a maroon car that has hit it (from the paint left on the BMW), I reckon they have pulled into the 'T' and reversed to turn around and hit it. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for a maroon car with damage and be having a word if I spot something.

Motherfuckers, you can't have anything nice anymore.

Last week i found a really nice early 80s Pioneer stereo cassette player on Gumtree and after a little bit of haggling the seller agreed to post it to me for £45 all in.

It arrived today (i hadn't even paid for it by this point!) and I tried to fit it to the Dolomite.

Sadly as it didn't have a fitting guide I had to guess and sadly ended up wiring the electric aerial cable to one of the speaker cables and burnt it out. :(

So after another £17 on some high tech ICE i fitted a new speaker and tried again. This time it worked perfectly but it doesn't fit in the orginal plastic radio surround...

I don't want to cut the old one up and I don't think a replacement will be easy to find so I think i'll just fit a CD player in the glovebox instead and leave the orginal knackered radio as a ornament.

Drowning my sorrows following the damage to my E38, I did what any self respecting shiter would do with the money that would be better spent in the body shop.

I've agreed to buy another one.

Cheeky after work collection tomorrow I reckon.
