Unfortunately it isn't running right and seems to have had a hard life.

Reserve is £500. I could do with a few bits for my own but not sure it'll break into that money especially given the shell is worth about £20. Are those wheels sought after at all?

I noticed today that the Escort oil pressure light doesnt light up when I put the ignition on.

Being a dim-witted fud I have no idea if this happened yesterday or if its never worked.

Probably just leave it - better the devil you dont know the details..... or something like that.

What model is that merc then? W201? I quite fancy one of those footwell net bag things to fit in my coupe.

Is a 430 a v8 then?

W210 4.3 V8. Should go well.

Yip those 430's are v8's. The amg slabs are worth something if they're original.

It is and indeed it does. Mine is also still Romanian registered for ultimate gangsta effect.

Sent off to the dvla a cheque for £15 and a request for history of 3 of my cars. All has now been received and no real surprises other than the marina. It stated that the original selling dealer owned it from 1979 to 1994! I was told that it was a one owner from nearly new.

The dealer is still going so perhaps someone may know.

What did you give as a reason for wanting the history? I was thinking of getting it for one of mine but have been told the DVLA can be arsey about releasing it.

I visited a scrappy I'd not been to before (saw an ad on gumtree that he was breaking a couple of mx5s) didn't buy any parts but had a good mooch around and a chat with the guy in the office - nice bloke, turns out he lives round the corner from me :)

anyway, pics :

I need ONE of these alloys, did he have any Tacumas in the Daewoo/Chevy corner?

I was looking for a bonnet for the mx5, he said if the one he had was in good nick (which sadly it wasn't) he would be after around forty quid for it - which seemed quite reasonable to me.

this is his gumtree ad with a map and phone number

Mot time for the alfa and right on cue the lights start playing up. It really needs a new rear light cluster.

The handbrake on this 147 has been a pest since we got it, so this time I've replaced the two rear cables which seems to have done the trick. Great fun* lying under a car in the drive after a day's work in this weather.

The engine light has come on, I think as a result of the wife running it dry of fuel then flattening the battery :(

My D900 code reader won't connect. Apparently it might be a fuse, but which fuse...?

Can you tell what it is yet?

No? Ok I'll give,you,a clue,,it's a bespoke handmade British 2 seater with a V6.

What did you give as a reason for wanting the history? I was thinking of getting it for one of mine but have been told the DVLA can be arsey about releasing it.

I said on the V888 that "I was an enthusiast for these kind of cars and wanted to document and blog about the car's history" and it was accepted. There's only a small box on the form. I have also read that they can be arsey.  Wanting to buy a particular car is definitely not a good enough reason to release the data, it seems.

Is that a Rover 800 (and I use this term quite loosely) pick-up?

A coconut for Mr Vulgalour !

But not just a pickup, one based on a hearse or limo, by the look of it . No problem for this coach builder deciding what back window to use, just bend a sheet of random metal to fit*.

Spike- - - kept it really simple, on the form I just stated I wanted to trace the history.

I've done this with most of my cars and have always had a response with no kick back.

Just my l300 van to do.

The diagnostics fuse?

P38s have one.

Doesn't seem to have one according to my interweb search.

I tried an ecu reset sequence but that hasn't switched it off. I'll borrow someone else's code reader.

I think if you are the registered keeper, it is a service they offer, but if you have no recorded interest in the vehicle, you have to justify your request for information.
