I would only think about that after the Volvo is sorted and running well.

Don´t be to sure about the Volvo. Ok, it´s an old Volvo and everyone loves it, but first check it thoroughly and run it a few weeks to see how reliable it is and in which condition it really is. Tide-mark = rust?

If the Volvo proves to be a good one, sell the XM if you get a decent amount of cash for it.

Well at least they picked a scenic spot for it. Winterfold wood on the Greensand Way this morning....

That big crane is building a new mansion at alderbrook park for billionaire Lakshmi

DaveSpencer32 on YouTube has some fantastic footage of buses and lorries from various places around Europe and the UK from the past 25 years. It's great for old chod a sort of UK town centers on Dave. Iv been throwing in loads of old registrations into the DVLA website and so far I've only found 1 car still taxed and MOT'd in 2015 (a blue Renault Scenic seen in a 2004 video). Here's some links to his videos.

OMGSNOKAOS has struck this part of the world. When I set off this morning with a trailer loaded with scaffold, cement mixer etc it was starting to sleet, but this quickly turned to snow and there was a good 3 or 4 inches by the time I got to where I was going. Managed to get stuck in field of snow and mud but thanks to godlike off road skills this was only a temporary hold up.

I badly need new tyres for the disco though.

Interesting timing.

Indeed. Planning was given ok in 2011. It's supposed to be 100% carbon neutral, with solar panels, heat pumps and biomass generators powered by wood from the 360acre estate and costing £40million. Just a little place in the country though. The main house is apparently Kensington palace gardens which he bought from Bernie eccleston for £57million.

Mrs_Stanky's new moneymaking scheme is delivering the local free paper/magazine thing which actually pays decent coin, so we got 1000 of the things plus assorted leaflets and stuff delivered on thursday and she's been out delivering them over the weekend, except today when she had to take micro_Stanky to a party so I was asked to finish off the remaining ones, about 250 of them.

Cue much grumbling about it being her scheme and why do I have to get lumbered with it etc etc (mostly in jest) but it was really good actually. Today was cold and windy but dry round here, so off I toddled with these things boxed up and started bunging them through letterboxes, the work isn;t really that taxing but its really interesting seeing what old chod people have stashed away. I'll have to remember my phone next time so i can take pics but todays spots included:

- Suzuki Rhino with all 4 wheels off on axle stands

- L reg Citroen ZX 1.9d in white on steelies with mildly Beko1987'd front wing

- BMW 750iL covered in moss

- 3 Nissan Sunnys, all garaged at different houses

- A mk1 Punto 1.2 16v 85bhp model with iffy sills but still on the road. Presumably into double figures of head gasket changes by now

- A rover 600ti

Plus a load of other stuff I can't currently recall.

got the job finished and made it back with enough time to change the 'inner' light housing on the Nissan which has been cracked for about 2 years after I reversed into a tractors trailer in the dark. Thanks for the part Primeradoner, it looks about a million times better now! Next on the list is to replace the numberplates which have faded badly then next up is the gearbox replacement due (hopefully) at the end of next week. Who do I need to contact to book a new thread in advance for that? I know there's a quota now so don't want to go mad and steal someone else's!

Will my 1.9td of bosch goodness run on heating oil?

Kerosene is a bit thinner than diesel, but yes. I would mix a bit of veg or engine oil to bulk it out.

Cool. Got 1/4 a tank of derv in already, picking up 30l of heating oil from freecycle tomorrow, Ill chuck 10l of veg in to thicken it out as I put it in.

Ive got new engine oil but the meriva drinks that like fuck so ill keep that!

Dont want to let free fuel go to waste!

Isnt it the same as red diesel as far as customs bum raping is concerned

Id best glf with it and burn through it quickly... Never been stoppee by vosa before though

^ I think so. It's sold as a non road fuel so doesn't count under the "produced" loophole that exists for SVO which isn't sold or taxed as fuel at all.

Ah.

I'd best pick it up so as not to be a dick (its round the corner from work) and find someone with oil fired heating to offload it onto...

Unless its good at stripping paint or something?

Absolutely. As beko said, stick a little cheap 20/50 in to lubricate the pump. This is a trick of many an aircraft engineer when running on waste Jet A1. Being an aircraft engineer, of course I have never done this as it would be instant dismissal. Customs and excise take quite an interest in you as well. Just don't get caught.  I'm pretty certain the lucas pumps don't mind a drop of the stuff. It's nice and thin.

20/50. Ill certainly not have a look for some cheap asda stuff of that tomorrow...

I've never had a tank dipped, running on waste vegetable oil, engine oil, hydraulic oil, kerosene, red diesel. That's because I used it off road*.

My wife does the Avon, so I have numerous aftershaves (we buy more stuff so she meets her sales targets, and gets a bonus, gr9 business model), and I have on a number of occasions smelled something on my hands which I liked and struggled to remember which aftershave it was I put on that morning, before realising what the smell actually was.

I would buy that stuff.

Re heating oil, as long as it's not red I'd use it in the car, have used a bit of kero previously in an xud.

The problem with it is it is much less lubricatey than normal diesel so will kill pumps quickly if not mixed with veg etc.

Having said that, there was a bloke running a pd Bora on 90% kerosene, 10% biodiesel when I used to buy bio from a place in Bradford. Allegedly it had ran fine for thousands of miles but it sounded like spanners in a washing machine.

Saw a lovely red B reg Visa in Edinburgh last night - is it anyone on here?

No photo, I did have my cameraphone but I was on a bus and it was pitch black, the photo would have been as much use as none at all.

Mine sounds like a bag of spanners already, so no worries there. Ill grab some veg in the morning from asda if Im up early enough and pop it in before I (dont) put this heating oil in...

Just paid 99.7p a litre for Asda unleaded, it was weird watching the litres go up faster (just) than the cost! Its been a while since that last happened.

Normanly I don't like supermarket fuels but since its a good 7p a litre cheaper than anywhere else locally its a no-brainer.

There was a massive queue though, I bet they are out by 10pm.

Tried to go to town today but there was a que for the main parking so came straight home.

Fiesta was a bit jumpy as normal in damp weather but the new fluffy says were amazingly warm and nice :-)
