Holy moley! That's a huge amount of money. What did you get for that?

Pants pulled down and bent over by the sound of it, that is an awful lot of money, but if the car is now perfect then probably worth it. I'd be scared to go anywhere near it in case I broke it.

I would be scared to even drive it TBH. It would be like driving our life savings around. But hey, if you can afford it then enjoy!

That is a rather large bill but worth it in the end hopefully. I saw specialist cars have sold the Turbo R for £7700 with no mention of the oil burning. I was a bit surprised they are having anything more to do with it after the hassle you had.

£10245.

And still to pay for the seat ecu which is another £300!

Oh bugger fart and bollox!

Sweet Jesus, what did they do? Replace the spare wheel with a spare Bentley?!

Posted

Blimey xtriple I really hope the Bentley meets all of your expectations

Jeepers. I see my dream of owning one is going to remain a dream!

Owning one is cheap.

Owning one that works, well.....

I actually had occasion to use my Sterling today. Haven't used it since Friday last week. This is due to job ending and going on this 'Universal Credit' thing which means I have to wait 4 weeks until I have my first payment.

Had to go into town to the local labour exchange Jobness Centre or whatever it's called, as well as the Clowncil. The Sterling, parked in a local unrestricted street nearby, refused to start at first, lots of turning over but no fire, this is basically possibly down to a small battery drain somewhere. It did eventually restart. Gave it good run and even had it washed! Arrived a bit early at Jobness Centre so started dusting out the mats which reminded me of the tape I put under them a few years ago.

Amazingly, getting back home I amazingly found a parking space in the same usually packed street. So...er...yeah, a bit uneventful really...

That's a fair old chunk of change, but worth every penny to have the old girl running like she should...well done :)

As some of you may have guessed, I'm desperately trying to free up a bit of space at chez_JohnK and also up the road at chez_JohnK senior.

The Sierra went on Friday which got the back bath back into action and I'm politely* informed by the missus that it is to remain as a path and not a parking space.

I'm desperate to move the Rover 214 on as I had committed to buying another E34, but the seller was a tit so he got told where to shove his E34. Many thanks to hairnet for offering to collect and store it for a bit though.

Not to be deterred I bought something else so Rover space is definitely needed now. I'm also prematurely wanting to move on the Autoshite Lancia loan as I really want to buy another Sierra.

Anyway, plan 1 came together tonight with the help of the old man. Obligatory pez shot (with my dad looking at me from his Omega wondering what the fuck I am actually doing...)

£650 and V8 with 9 months test. Happy with that. Needs a wash as it's been parked in a dusty unit, but it is surprisingly ROT FREE!

Oh yes! I risk my wife's wrath by absolutely loving those. When BMWs were properly attractive.

Shit. What happened?

On a mini roundabout going right guy not paying attention shot on and turned into side of me.

Focus will be written off. Said to him that if he wants to settle for cash that is fine. He said it was his fault then changed his mind.

Oh shit!

It's all happenning here this month, isn't it?  Hope you're ok!

Dear god. I think that's almost as much as I've paid for all my cars over the last 23 years!

I do hope it's utterly perfect for you after all this ( I haven't forgotten you had the bodywork done too). All that is left now is for you to enjoy it to the full. Gracious living at to best!

Let's see what the guy says.

It has properly twatted the side and creased rear quarter. Only a car though

It is cat C anyway. So not sure how much I will get for it.

Looks like I have got a replacement sorted already!

Everyone keeps going on about hire cars but when I point out the pitfalls and getting lumbered with the bill they go blank

I put the Rover in the garage tonight because I was adamant it would fit.

It's a tight fit, but it does fit and I can get in and out via the driver's door.  It'd be a lot easier if the door was flush fit rather than pinched in, but I suppose that's the one flaw with an up-and-over type door.

I often drive the fiat up to the garage and then get out and push it in by hand. I have a tennis ball hanging from the roof to touch the windscreen when it's time to stop.

Our old neighbour used to drive his Singer Gazelle into his garage, quite quickly, until it crunched into the stone rear wall. Then he knew it was in far enough to close the door, I don't think a modern would stand up to that

That's the Nippa prepared for its weekend of hurtling around England. Not sure of the route yet, but it'll be off to Leicestercestershire for a few days.
