Made a start on the XM brake job. Have been thwarted by the fact that the slider on the car needs a 7mm hex key - I own 6mm and 8mm. The replacement part is an 8mm. Gah!

Ok, so it wasn't 7mm at all now I have a 7mm key. Just a rusty 8mm I guess. Great,

just pop round I am sure I have a 7mm key!

Reminds me of the 2cv vent flap which is the only thing on the whole car that needs a 5.5mm socket

Yup. 8mm. Came out nice and easily. But I've been sent the wrong sodding replacement. FFS. Cleaned up the old slider and reassembled. Not impressed.

Is this a game of snap, can I claim the pair!

I know I need to claim a pair of rear window regulators, amongst other minor dramas.

For the first time in forever I actually went to the unit.  Was a nice diversion from Screamy Twat next door and the new heater is AWESOME. Putting theory into practice on fitting the new front lights to the Princess is proving more difficult than expected.  I've got to make a tapered fillet between a curved panel and a not-quite-flat mounting plate, the curves go in opposite directions.  I've cut the first hole, now I tack in an oversized fillet that I trim to the panel lines and finally I tack in the light unit mounting section before seam welding the lot and dressing it all back.  This is one of those custom bodywork jobs I've wanted to do properly for years and now I'm faced with doing it this little tiny job is rather daunting.

I'm afraid we'll need pics Mr. V or I'll add some of my minging estate.

If I get better progress on it tomorrow, I will provide pictures.  Nothing worth sharing on it today, it's still all just bits of twisted metal on the workbench.

I went to the largely deserted Sunlun Docks today to collect a "new" engine with a friend for his boat. This modern revolution was diesel BMC B series, replacing the 2 pot Lister.

Out with the old, in with the new, the 1950's have swept the 1930's aside!

Not car related, but she said no, maybe no for now, maybe not. But we'll see. 14 hours at a party does not a lifetime make, but I know more than I have in my entire life who I want, because I trust every spark in my instinct and fate.

Seriously though, who the hell wouldn't want to go out with me. I'm awesome *sulk* ;)

We spent a few hours trying to get the 335 running correctly.

got it just about spot on after stripping and cleanin hunners o bits.

bro just told me it was back to running like shit:(

Blocked fuel filter, perhaps?  This seems to be the problem of choice on crap running recently.

Went up to that there London today to deliver some furniture to a friend. Decided to take the LDV despite the Low Emission Zone. We looked at hire of a complient van, it would have been about £10 cheaper than the daily charge but the minimum excess was £500 so we didn't want any potential costs.

After our two hours parking expired we moved the van (to comply with the regulation we had to move for at least an hour) to the next street.

What did I see parked up by the parking machine? A shed of a Mk3 Astra L

Give her a bit of time & space...Having someone very obviously fall for you straight away can be pretty intimidating. However well you think you may have hidden your true feelings, she'll know - She's a woman and they're all witches deep down ;)

Women are funny creatures. He says sagely.

They never mean what they say or say what they mean. Never ask one what it wants or tell one that you like it. It'll only confuse it.

Slap on the bum and a joke about an owl. That's all you need. I'd give it a week though, if you've dived straight in with emotions.

Took my 1963 Anglia for the MOT and it passed no issues / no advisories - tester was very impressed.

It's taken me 8 years to get to this stage, the last MOT that I know of was 1989, just need to change to historic tax and get driving. Only thing gutted about is that I have had it tested just in time for winter !!! great eh!!

Checked it on the MOT checker thingy and great to see on there now / just need to run it in.

I celebrated with a curry and a guiness last night !!!

That frees my time up now to start on the other projects - Marina next me thinks as that should be the quickest to return to the road.

Only the good ones ;)

(It doesn't help that I generally communicate with Russian/East European folklore and imagery, lots of bears and forests in my mind, and she's from Eastern Europe, so whereas Americans and British girls probably think it's all cute and mysterious, her sense for interpreting what is in my heart is probably way, way stronger. My first crush was a girl in Russia).

got the exhaust changed on the jaguar, so much quieter on the road.

got the end trims put back on too, the ones that the tyre place couldn't be bothered to put back on, so it looks much better, only now the traction control light is on! flippin' thing was fine yesterday too.

last time it came on the better part of 3 years ago, it got fixed by the garage taking the thing to bits, and cleaning up the sensor/motor thing before putting it back together. just as well as the bit is now NLA.

going to get other half to take the car over there next week and hope that it can be cured again.

Replaced the front brake discs and pads on The Volvo this morning, a task which only took about an hour and a half and was straightforward enough:

All I need to do now is find the time to give it a pre-MOT check and submit it for a test, as it's been off the road for a month now.

I've just bought another small Suzuki for not much money. It's silver (mostly).

It's sat for three years, hadn't been started in a few months but fired right up with a new battery and the brakes aren't stuck. WCPGW etc.

Also GLS spec, central locking, electric windows and electric mirrors but no power steering. That's a bit mean is it not?

Fan puns encouraged.

Even if I don't like the car, your passenger seems to be fan.

I don't rate them highly either but it was just sitting there which is pointless and I got it fairly cheap. The number of stamps covers the mileage it's done (4 stamps, 16k miles) so it has an Ebay spec full service history (i.e. ignore the fact it's 6k miles OR one year).

Today I have mostly been buying compressors.
