Shitters price as is £300 with no MOT (for which it's likely to need a new numberplate but nothing else). Otherwise I'll be putting it on ebay with a new MOT classified ad at Ã‚£450.

Bought myself a Kwak GT-550 at the weekend which so far I'm delighted with.

This now leaves the lock up full to bursting and SWMBO feels something must go. With a view to that before I deal with ebay are any shiters interested in a MZ ETZ 125 in mechanically good but shabby condition? Ideal for riding round on L plates looking like a boss...

oofff!

I had a mz saxons sport star (muz) heavy, turning circle of the titanic and couldn't better 45mpg but I loved it. Built like a tank and wasn't bad at handling and good turn of speed for A 125. I would if I had the money

RAF flyingdales is an american site, with american personnel.

it will give us 3 minutes warning, the USA will get i think 25.

as well as the radar station there is a completely self contained "town" with bowling, a cinema and sports facilities.

A friend is a civilian space analyst for RAF Fylingdales and so I've twice had tours, 2002 and about 10 years later. The Commander is RAF as were all the staff I saw on the control room floor, though I have no idea Brit/Yank ratio. I saw 3 humongus generators ready to spring into life if the power supply flickered, a large hot and noisy computer room but no town, friend was whining they'd closed the canteen!

In 2002 they still had green and black computer screens in the control room as they said they liked stuff they can fix.

Like a lot of people I was affected by the radar on the second visit, being inside the "pyramid" made me dizzy. Can't be good for your health long term, I was also advised not lock the 1993 BMW 540 with the zapper.

Following my grump regarding selling the A35, I am pleased to say that following an ebay message exchange which asked sensible questions, I had a call yesterday about it and today a young lad came down to look at it and has agreed to buy it. Arrived in a Citroen Pluriel (so extra points for that) and he already has a split-screen Minor and an Austin Somerset so should know what to expect.

cant get better than a kwik fit fitter.....

When my sister was doing her PhD at imperial college in sunninghill she called me one day to say her cAr (the 2cv) was making a lot of noise from underneath( PhDs for you!). I went over after work and with an audience of a dozen or so students made a very good repair to the broken exhaust with an empty tin of peeled plum tomatoes, fire gum and two jubilee clips. Whilst wearing a white shirt and suit trousers! It was probably thicker metal than the original steel.

Head gasket change revealed crack in cylinder head. I will try and sneak out of work early tomorrow for a skulk round Albert Loom's. By crack I mean break in the cylinder head before any Russell Brand types turn up at my house.

My quickest "drive it, get video live" ever. I drove my mate's Delica again last night. Video was edited and live by lunchtime.

when SWMBO used to deliver stuff up there she only ever saw americans.

seems that either i'm mistaken or it was old information, maybe this was the case in olden times.

Perhaps Fylingdales has a remote barracks, though I'm not sure what a load of grunts could do to protect it, the front door is pretty impressive! Any threat would come from the sky and IIRC it was described as semi hardened(!), it would survive anything short of a direct nuclear hit.

That's ludicrous, and fantastic. Beats the luminous yellow one I saw in London once.

CAUTION - animal cruelty ahead.

Todays top tip - Fire is NOT a suitable pest control solution.

I was working in the garage today and went to get a clean bit of rag. I have a cupboard jammed with old sheets and stuff for workshop use and when I opened the door a fooking MASSIVE rat lurched out at me! It was hissing and screeching, hackles up as if to say " 'mon then ya fucking cunt, Ill fucking have ya".

Dunno....it seemed like a good idea at the time - I grabbed a tin of brake cleaner and a lighter and flame-throwered it.

An angry, on-fire rat can run surprisingly far, stopping to light small fires every now and then as it races round the garage under the cupboards and workbenches at about 50mph.

Sold a full big bore exhaust and manifolds for the SD1.

I wanted to keep them really, however the car already has a stainless big bore and the money can go towards the paint job.

Whilst I was at the garage doing minor Umm fettling the gaffer had a bit of free time so we decided to stick the boring in for it's MOT a bit early. It passed and now has 13 months test, yay!

I've been playing dashboard light bingo on the daily for a couple of weeks.

Got 3 on today!

I have no idea what 2 of them are for.

Do I win something?

Apart from a trip on an AA van and a repair bill!!

And I need to give it a service.

That power steering one has just started coming on on my Ibiza.

VCDS says its an intermittent reference voltage (read dodgy wire or steering angle sensor)

If that's the case with yours it's either the load sensor wire to the alternator or your battery is on it's way out. My battery is brand new so it's not that.

Do your lights dim a lot when you turn the steering wheel?

Today the Bini went back into the stealers under warranty as it's running lean and burning oil (possibly), and the a/c is making a loud buzzing noise.

They're taking the car in for an unspecified amount of time, although apparently when we get it back we have to run it for 600 miles then report back again for them to work out what's going on.

No courtesy car, they offered to call a taxi (from Chester Road/Old Trafford to Stalybridge? FRO), so it's a good thing we had the A4.

Right, is it worth** me doing the timing belt, tensioners and water pump on the Xantia?  What sort of cost and how much of a ball ache is it as a DIY job and is it worth sacking it off to a specialist so my wallet can go on a crash diet?

**I did the clutch, so of course it's worth doing.

The 11mm bolt in the back of the cambelt cover is a little shit to get out, but cut it down a bit before you put it back in.

That said, hasn't it already had at least one belt change?
