What turbo is it? Doesnt look like a Garrett. Is it a Ku Klux Klan effort on these?

Watched all episodes of Project Binky tonight. Totally amazed at what they are doing, and the standard of fabrication of the panels AND the jigs. Brilliant.

Noticed this morning the temperature guage was moving between where it normally sits and a segment below. Never done that before, seemed to do it when I slowed down, then went back up to normal as I sped up.

Must remember to check the coolant at some point before SF I think...

I got told about a mk3 2 door cortina which has sat in a garage for a good few years that's apparently in good condition, i may be going to see it later, the only problem I may encounter is if I do buy it i have no space so I'll have to ask the mother in law if I can use her driveway

Seeing what the 2 doors are worth now I think you'll soon find room if you had too, good luck!

That's what I said to mrs fp, this one sounds like a steal, the guy says he thinks it's a gt the car is his cousins

Well I popped to have a look at the cortina, what a shame it was pre facelift but was a rotten old girl, I couldn't find a part that didn't need welding, it was in an old asbestos garage that was falling to bits so it may as well have been outside, the owner had left the webasto open and the interior had been torn apart by the cats that had been living in it, what a bummer that people let them get like this

This afternoon the temp needle went to normal, then up to 90 before going back to normal. It then moved about depending on the speed of corners...

Might Wang a new start in to be sure, it never used to do this...

Anyone know of a reasonable Manchester-based alloy wheel refurbisher? Need the minor kerb marks sorting on the mother's new Bini wheels.

New* 9-5 demanded coolant today via the media of many bongs, pixelated messages AND warning lights. Old coolant* at the bottom of the tank has sparkly little metal bits in it which are easily visible as the water in it is crystal clear. I now suspect the rocker cover gasket oil leak down the front of block might not be the rocker covers fault.

Have topped up with water and will endeavor to ignore it for as long as possible.

More coolant demanded today. This happened shortly after discovering I had accidently defrosted a freezer at work (sadly it was full, all was lost) and broken a bit of one of the machines removing the old fucked motor, intending to replace that with a shiny new one - except that didn't fit either. Ugh.

But on the upside a good poke about seems to have revealed that it is the heater bypass valve thingy that is incontinent, not the head.

Hurrah, I think. Small mercies.

New one ordered from ecp, collect tomorrow. I have every confidence that it will be the right part......

Don't get a pattern one . They won't last a year . Mine went again after 9 months last night . Gonna order a genuine vauxhall one tomorro

The old A4 has a broken front spring. I'm really* looking forward to tackling that pinch bolt on the upper control arms.

Fusion mission continues. Turbo rebuild kit ordered, turbo stripped and awaiting new parts.

Will it go back together OK? Will it work? Will they have sent the correct parts? Tune in tomorrow to find out...

I got 18 problems and a Renault is all of them.

Driving to work today noticed no hot air from heaters and temp gauge rising fast.

Pulled over, put some water in, continued driving, windscreen steams up, coolant bottle chucking steam out, looked like a steam train.

Pulled over again, put more water in and it seemed okay, need to investigate this so hopefully I can get the Volvo roadworthy tonight.

Last week I drove from Penrith to Tebay in MrSavv and on the lonnng downhill drag - after Shap summit - I was at 80 with no throttle on and the temp segment dropped from 'mid'3 down to 2.

Never seen that before... Air temp outside was a bit Icelandic, mind.

All fluids are OK.

Hammerite is shite nowadays.

Remember how you needed thinners/ hammerite brush cleaner to clean your brushes? Not any more.

White spirit will break it down.

Shite.

Frankly, I am surprised Hammerite isnt water-soluble these days.....all the effective products of years past are being replaced by "green" shit which isnt nearly as good - everything from vehicle paints to weedkiller.

I take health warnings as a good sign..........the more toxic/harmful the more effective.

I struggled up 'the struggle', out of Ambleside today.

Selfie @ Kirkstone Pass to follow... No piccie and it didn't happen ;)

You appear to have grown another chin Savvy!

Merc stuff - Passed down Mahmouds tonight after yet another long day at "work" 4o tell Mahmoud about the waterpump refurbisher in Wolverhampton that Angrydicky supplied details for (thanks chap!). Mahmoud seemed stumped by waterpump and did a bit more investigating. It turns out the waterpump in question; ain't. It's a "support cooling fan" which is a bloody site cheaper than a waterpump.

Hopefully, (for the umpteenth time) I will actually have the old German tub back within the next week or so.
