FFS, that's a bit severe!  I had my left knee done this time last year, I've got two tiny scars on my knee.  Yours must have been much worse than mine.

(I have been told that I'm looking at knee replacement inside the next 10-15 years or so, however...)

I know that, but what were they looking for/fixing?

Draining a 'baxters cyst' and trim remove torn cartilage and remove milky fluid too

Took my busa to get the back tyre sorted - it had been losing pressure.

Quoted £32 for a repair, however I had already assumed that it was too worn for a repair, so I had a new one fitted. Also a Bridgestone, the old one was a model no longer in production. £138 which was less than I expected.

Once home I thought I would treat it to a good clean

It came up quite well, it needs new pads shortly and some braided hoses.post-4771-0-74077900-1411150025_thumb.jpg

Clocking up 400 miles in a week left my fingers sore from gripping the skinny steering wheel. There is a chunkier, single-spoke wheel that would fit - fitted to posh 2CVs. I found another solution.

Yes, that's two pieces of pipe lagging and a fair dose of insulation tape. Will be interesting to see how I get on with it. Will be testing it on the way to RAF Cosford tomorrow for the 'some Autoshiters and some Citroen XMs' do.

I hope that isn't cheap insulting tape, you might find it oozes glue everywhere when your hands warm it up.

I wouldnt be surprised if this was submitted by citroen as an attempt to meet the requirement for a driver's airbag.

"Eet ees full of ze,'ow you sai..leetle bubles et has been approved by laboritoire garnier" ces't magnifique:)

Nice, I love the brown 'busa's, mine got nicked the day after I bought it, only did 150 miles on it :(

Many years ago I learned that the comfiest solution to 2CVing was to drape the fingers over the wheel and guide, rather than grip.

Just wondering if I can attach video files and I thought I'd try this one of my mechanic friends SM - we drove up to the CCC rally at Gaydon.

You can't hear the audio, but it's the tomtom saying "keep right" (M40 J4) and Pete saying  "I'm trying". At an indicated 100mph (probably 80 given the severity of the Parkinson's that the speedo had) we were undertaken by some twit in a modern audi (no surprise there).

This is no good for hooning in my experience. Fine for a motorway 'cruise.' Mind you, I used this technique often in the Mini, because the steering was so like the handlebars on a bike.

Ah, well I'm getting old now and do suffer from finger cramp from time to time. :-)

While I'm here, took a nice photo from my living room this evening - have you seen John Carpenter's The Fog?

Gloves: I almost always wear gloves to drive and the best by far are the knitted polyester work gloves with rubber grippy bits. £1.59/ pair from Wickes. Washable, reversible, breathable, warm in winter and cool in summer.

Brilliant things, and because they are orange they are Autoshite.

Bicycle handlebar tape for the steering wheel mod works well.

The C2 passed its MOT today, which I was pleased about, given that it was advertised as "spares or repair" and I gave 270 quid for it.  It did initially fail, as three of the four indicator bulbs and both side repeater bulbs had lost their orange coating, but the garage stuck five new bulbs in (charging me all of £7.50 for the privilege), and passed it.

Cagiva failed though.  Few odd bits - chain too tight, which I had a feeling it might be but hadn't had a chance to do anything about it as the wheel is held on with a fucking 25mm nut and nobody but nobody (not even the MOT garage) has a 25mm socket (or even a 1 inch, which would be close enough).  Unfortunately as I'd need to reuse the nut the Luxobarges approach is not an option.  Headlight aim was out - turned out to be the bulb was on the piss in the housing, it's one of the old pre-halogen 45/40w bulbs and doesn't have any locating lugs as such.  The major fail though was one of the fork seals has gone.  The seals are only 7 quid but I know for a fact they are going to be an absolute cuntbasket of a job to do.

Still, of the four vehicles I've presented for MOT this week, three passed first time.  75% pass rate isn't bad going for my shite, although it helped that I decided not to take the piss by presenting the Vel Satis.

And to think, for just £4, Halfords would provide you with one of these http://www.halfords.com/motoring/interior-accessories/steering-wheel-covers-seat-belt-pads/powered-by-fairydust-steering-wheel-cover

You say that, but you can't collect and they won't deliver so one can only assume they're out of stock!  Never the case with pipe insulation and electrical tape in the world of the Wobbler.

You know they said no driving for 7 days. Make that about 3 weeks and you're more in the right area. I had to wear my leg brace for weeks too :-(

Up and about in 48 hours with mine and back at work after a week, miles better than the other knee in the 90s on the NHL, I was off for 4 weeks. Sounds like they used a blunt Stanley craft knife on your knee.

Hope it's healing well Stuboy, sounds like you had the same as I had, I burst the Bakers cysts twice, absolutely fucking excruciating pain much worse than the split discs on my back, haven't had any trouble since the knee op in 2012 though.

SD1 collection not going well so far as my buyer has missed his flight to Glasgow. He's now on the tortoise choo choo express and I'm going to meet him in Paisley. Hopefully he'll make it!

I've got a bakers cyst, had it since 1996, I'm having ultrasound physio at the moment as I've got a torn conjoint so I'm interested in your knee pokings, if not slightly worried as I may kneed an Arthur Daley opscopy soon

iit looks grim and I've got sexy knees and would ruin my male model work but also cos you can't drive for a week etc, hope it heals alright

They sowed some cartilage together in mine and damaged some nerves while doing it. I couldn't walk for about 2 weeks and could only hobble for ages after.

Might have been as they said it was clean inside with no blood so I might have broken it all about 15 years ago when it locked up then

I'm about a four minute walk from Gilmour Street on the road that leads away from the town centre from the bridge at Gilmour Street.

Is that the Rover gone?

Have you bought its replacement yet?

If not spending money on a new car usually cheers me up.
