I reckon it will be the last evening meet of the year, I'm gutted as it's been cracking this year. I can't decide which car to bring either as it gets a bit boring when everyone's seen them all before.

The avantime developed this odd misfire which i can feel has got worse the last week or so especially as I did about 300 miles in it over the weekend so was driving it loads. .

The spark plugs are these platinum jobs that are so expensive I think each one has the tears from a unicorns anal gland or something in them ??That's what I read on the internet anyway.

Their expensive made me think they might have been dodged in a service or two so made them no 1 suspect . my local factors a

Managed to get me a set for 22 quid, which wasn't too bad in the end.

I was expecting it to be a pain in the hole to get them out given the frenchness, limited access and the fact you need to take the engine out to change them on the v6 ( is there nothing you don't need to take the engine out for on that car ?)

The plugs looked like a lobsters ball sack there was so much crustation on it so defo seen better days. Seems better now anyway.

October' C&SC just dropped on the mat, complete with Credit Suisse review of the old car market . Predictably it waffles on about what bargains £70,000 Maserati Mexicos and Mistrals are, and how we should all rush out and buy one.

But,it does raise one interesting point , namely American Range Rovers. Most went to California and even a Rangie would struggle to rust there, they only started selling them in '91 but apparently nobody wants them out there and $2,500 will buy the best. Fly to LA,buy RR,drive to NY, hide in boot in container (don't worry Trigger can let you out) drive home WCPGW?

Funnily enough, I was thinking the same thing the other day when looking at a Rangie they were featuring on Bring A Trailer

In other news, this has just been delivered as an 'equivalent ' replacement for my Chrysler. 100% copper bottomed futureshite. Upholstery made from old mail bags, noisy, slow, with the clunkiest auto box I've ever encountered ( makes an SMG BMW feel like a Powerglide).

My own kids have openly ridiculed me for accepting it and are talking about buying me a short sleeved shirt and tie combo.

The best bit is this; Keep Fit Windows in a 2014 car,ok so it's only the back but even so.

I dread to think what the list price is of this piece of shit, but until it's down to under a grand, it's too much.

Needless to say it's going back tomorrow when they find something more suitable , for some reason the fact it's brand new today should outweigh its nastiness in the eyes of the ambulance chasing ' claim management' shysters.

Wow - that is hideous. What is it?

There is much excitement in the Spud household, well me and the dogs anyhow.

My number one always wanted dream car from when i was a snotty kid has just been dropped off on the drive.

One owner for 42 of its 43 years and packing a 3 litre v6,it is far better shape than i ever hoped it should be,i always vow never to bid blind on stuff but still do.

More to follow..

It's a Vauxhall Insignia, thankfully gone now, just been replaced by a Merc C220 D estate, couple of years old but feels like a proper car,at least I can keep working.

Yep been rumbled..

Well my new ride turned up this morning.
Bought unseen which i always said i would never do again after getting conned by a guy selling a Standard 10 a while back.

Any how she has had only one owner for 42 of her 43 years and is in far better condition than i dared hope the body is very original with hardly any defects and the oily bits are in rude health too.

My dad only ever had a bike license so my childhood was full of Tamworths finest 3 wheeled offerings so it was only a matter of time before i had to get a Scimitar.

And surely these these cant stay so cheap for much longer when their 70's rivals have trebbled in value?, perhaps its the 'plastic pig' connection that is keeping the 'retro scene tax' at bay.

DMB have done themselves proud, a few weeks ago i used if they could make me a set of dealer plates for my Merc in the this design.

No problem, they said so i gave them detailed photos and measurements and left it there.

Monday i got a email to say they were finished so i paid the £33.50 for them and waited, today they arrived.  :-D

OMG MY MERC CAN HAZ TÜV for the next 2 years.

Well chuffed to say the least. The chap at the workshop said (in German)

" yeah mate it should of failed right, cos when the tester pulled the light switch to check the fog lights yeah, it came off in his hand. What it is right, cos it's very clean and tidy yeah, he passed it but get some superglue on that switch yeah "

Reminded me of a little britain character, but German.

A few little bits for advisories, stupid dinky wedge bulb in the third brakelight decided not to work, apparently one of the rear brakes is binding a tiny bit and gearbox, engine and diff are all oily. But generally a clean bill of health.

P.s. watch out tomorrow for my OMGDASAUTOISTKAPUTSHEISSE thread

Ah yes. Mr ChaseRacer should be aware of this character trait...

I've found where the coolant was disappearing on the Lancia. The hose from the head to the heater had a split in it, on the way to garage it split a bit more, the car didn't overheat and now I need to order some 17mm hose, we had 15mm & 19mm in the garage but no 17mm, bugger.

The car also cutout on the way over as well, I reckon there's a small/slight/occasional blockage in the fuel line. luckily I'd just put 40 litres of pez in the tank, which will now need to be drained to check for the blockage.

Those reg plates look 100% class in a glass Trig!!!! Money well spent I reckon.

What has happened to the Chrysler?

This lady fell asleep on the M25 and used the back of it to stop.

Engineer looked at my car today and apparently it's borderline as to if it's a write off or not.

I took this picture in case there was a dispute over identity of the driver, my missus reckons I was trying to take a picture of her tits.

Took the Cortina on the motorway for the first time today.

Got up to 70 no problem and cruised along at 70 nicely too, if a little loud due to the 4 speed box but I can deal with that.

Looks a bit rough - and the merc's not much better :-o

I just flippin typed all this in but my computer went into sleep mode while I dealt with Cort JR and it turned out the sleep was a coma.

Anyway...

The is pulls the twizy train at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow. The twizy train is a load of plastic oil barrels hollowed out and dragged by a twizy.

I'd like a shot of one of these but no one in there right mind would spend 7 grand on a car that has doors as an optional extra.

I recon this is going to be in the Renault filing system next to the Avantime under WTF.

Originally I thought this was a 1.3 encore but the big calipers and the carefully placed clear plastic seat covers make me thing it's the real deal.

I'd be shitting it every time I left it. I recon you need to get your own satelite launched exclusively to track the car just to get an insurance company to let you drive it 27 miles a year on public roads. Clause 1: No stopping.

This mini van looks to have an older front panel fitted to it. T reg divide by 0 does not compute

2 door mk1 Cavalier in full rat look plumage. At least they look to have actually put some thought into it with the wheels etc but once seems like it would have been even cooler with paint.

YPLAC. Shite vauxhall not only parked on double yellow lines but also in the entrance to a park and on the pavement. There was spaces 2-3 down as well.

Your missus is possibly correct in her assumption. :-)
