Can't really add anything other than deepest deepest condolencies Tim

Indeed. Really so sorry to hear the news and my thoughts are with you.

Posted

Sorry to hear that, its never easy especially in those circumstances.

All my condolences as well, I lost my Aunt to a drunk driver on the 28th of December year before last one hell of a Christmas and New Years present that was.

Grim news, Tim, sorry to hear that. My thoughts and condolences to you and yours.

Posted

That is really terrible news Tim. The next few weeks in particular will be hard - I wish you and your family all the best.

On a happier note, I saw a light blue Austin A55 'Farina' Cambridge in Shoeburyness on the way back from getting some petrol for TV2 this evening :)

Condolences to you and yours, Tim. Can't imagine what you're going through, and mere words can't really change it.

If there's anything you think anyone of us could help with, make sure you shout.

You have my condolences Tim.

It was me!

The car went by so quickly that I couldn't see who was driving it

:) I spotted TV2 (P979UTM, right?) at the roundabout by the Angel Inn. I did wave but I wasn't sure if you saw me. I've seen both your Volvos at Asda loads of times :)

That's the one :)

I didn't see you wave, as I was concentrating on the roundabout and the Rush album I was listening to (Signals), and was thinking about what I should have for dinner - all I saw of you was your hi-vis jacket

I use ASDA as my second-choice fuel stop (Tesco in Lakeside is my first choice, as it's about a mile from where I work), and occasionally do my grocery shopping there. I've seen at least two of your Austins the car park. What job do you do there?

Slowly doing all the little niggly jobs on the 944 - Today it was replacing the knackered rear speakers. Contrary to advice from so-called experts, you don't have to remove the rear windows to get the inside panels off

Home Shopping van driver. Not a great job, but better than nothing in the current climate.

That's awful news Tim, my condolences too. Best of luck.

Indeed. Better to have a job at your age than be NEET.

By the way, If any of you need a fire extinguisher for home or automotive use, you could do a lot worse than pop into your local LIDL, where decent quality 1kg ABC power extinguishers are currently on sale for £7.99 each. I bought one for each of the Volvos:

Apart for the writing on the side of them, they are physically identical to the Kidde extinguishers which Argos sell for £12 or thereabouts, so should work pretty well at extinguishing or retarding* a fire should the need arise. Scores extra shite points for having a picture of a Fiat Croma on the box:

*Something which I did with the Kidde one I had in TV2 in August 2010, when I came across a trailer fire on the A13. I managed to keep the flames down long enough with it for the guy towing the burning trailer to disconnect his brand new Honda CR-V and drive it to safety.

That is terrible news Tim. I cant imagine what you are going through. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Had an autoelectrician out to the 480 this afternoon, as the wipers and long range lights wouldn't turn off.

Verdict: borked central electric module. Don't think it's going to be easy finding another one.... Anyone got any ideas?

Have you considered packing it off to one of the companies which refurbishes ECUs and the like? They might even have an already reconditioned one in stock :)

That must be dreadful for you Tim; deepest condolences to you and your family.

Cheers guys, it means alot. Everyone has been so great about it and it makes a big difference. Had a card from one of the directors at work and been told to take as much tme off as I need. There is just so much to sort out. Mrs Lankytim's work has been a shower of twats about it all though "you are entitled to X days off, no more" e.t.c. They don't seem to understand that we have a 2 year old daughter to look after and a mountain of legal shit to go through, not to mention the emotinal support we need to give my Dad and other family members. It's not like my parents even live locally.

Some employers just do not have a frigging clue.

I've found that! :D Autoshite is like a whole extra family and I'm looking forward to meeting as many as I can, starting in September.

Yeah, but look on the bright side, it's only about 99.7% of them.
