Bloody hell it must be pam your cars off on cort16 day. I just got offered a straight 6 XJR for 500 quid. No T&T and erm, it won't rev over idle.

You probably wont get feck all from classics monthly claimed for or not , i did one a few years back for them , promised me the fuel back ( took my receipts ) , promised a free copy of the mag , promised lunch ( well we did get a sarni ).

Other than said sarni i got both sides of fuck all , wont do mag articles ever again .

The mag would die on its knees without the car owners who  on this occasion they treated with utter contempt , none of us got a bean.

Please don't tar all magazines with the same brush. I'm quite miffed at the situation Trigger is in. I've never organised a group shoot like that, because you need a decent chunk of budget to make it work. PC rightly pays expenses and what not. When I was a staffer, we went to the car instead of the car coming to us.

Got new bonnet on. Sorted. I now have a bonnet than no longer twists or crumbles when you slam it.

Only going on my personal experience with classic monthly , not done one with anyone else so it would be unfair of me to comment on the others .

Due to overwhelming interest* in the cortina i'm going to bang it in for an MOT friday, in the hope a fresh ticket will bag a sale.

I've a funny feeling saturday will be spent welding and rebuilding brakes.

Want a set of alloys for that? I have a set going spare in Glasgow. In Burgundy.

I did a photo shoot for practical classics with my Fregate. Still waiting for them to pay me the fuel from a couple of years ago. It was a joke really they string you along saying that lunch is included (a stale sausage sandwich followed by a kit kat and a can of coke. I don't think I will be doing anything for them again unless paid up front. I also done 2 film shoots with the Fregate. The first one at least paid for my hotel but never paid the fuel bill taking it to London. The second one has just been released and the 5 seconds of screen time my car got cost them £400 which they paid up front and even collected and delivered it back. It is pretty annoying that magazines and classic car shows don't pay for the use of classic vehicles. Without owners making their cars available there would be no mags or shows.

I also did a shoot for Classics Monthly a few years ago with my Metro. TBH I didn't expect any expenses and it was made clear up front that they couldn't, was a good day out but I was slightly miffed that I didn't get sent some complimentary copies. Had to buy them myself. For me it was worth it as is nice to see your car in print, and in a small way helped to further raise the profile of the Metro above banger and engine rape status.

Did a photo shoot for C&SC three years ago and whilst I can't remember if they paid my petrol (think they did but not 100% sure). They did provide a very nice lunch, sent four copies of the magazine and a cd with the images on.

Well happy with that!

The comprehensive socket set I had at Shitefest is one of the offers in Lidl on Monday 26th May if anybody wants one. I find it useful to have everything I might need in one box. The quality is good enough for the £70 price tag, everything is tough enough and the sockets are all six point.

Colour coding is overrated. Blue and burgundy will go great together* Pm me if you're interested.

Aye I'm a bit miffed about all this but on the plus side the Civic managed 153 miles on the A14 and the M6 without fault and still only cost £20 in fuel.

The hotel room for the night is stunning and I'm currently enjoying a pint of Doombar in the hotel bar whilst looking at the Civic outside.

Sorry, me again with not-car stuff.   Didn't seem suitable to make a new thread since I'd already started it here.

Anyway, Mum's ceremonies are next Wednesday and I can't remember if anyone here wanted to attend, I'm all over the place at the moment.  If you do, please drop me a PM for details.

Managed to secure a Daimler DS420 hearse which while fairly ordinary as a classic hearse, is something Mum would appreciate and is one of my favourites.  I'm told it's an early skinny bumper model rather than a later Autoshitey chunky black bumper version.  Friends in Sheffield are sorting out some Indian flower garlands for the Xantia and we have more purple ribbon than we rightly know what to do with to decorate the three lead cars.

Fully intend to get some photographs of the day, it's going to be a right motley vehicular assortment and something I want to save for posterity.

Best wishes for the day Vulg, hope it goes as well as can be expected.

Sounds fitting Vulg. At my dads funeral we all had coloured balloons that we released as a final goodbye.

I went and bought a load of box section in ayr and on the way home in the cortina at traffic lights I lost all dials, indicators , lights and the alternator light came on. I guessed The metal had slid into the tale light, caused a bad earth and blew a fuse and caused general mayhem (I was right).

I was shiteing it incase it burst into flames but luckily it didn't ignite.

Spent an afternoon fitting a set of mud flaps behind the front wheels. There's a set for the rear too but it took that long to do the first lot that I got fed up with it. Why are these things never straightforward? Anyway, also mended the inoperative N/S mirror for £free in about five minutes as it had popped off one of the little ball joints on the motor.

Ebay A/c pword duly changed from... 'referring to the car' to... also 'something referring to the car'!

Jeezz... and how would I remember otherwise  :-P ?

After my concerns over my photoshoot I can safely say it's been an excellent day!, The location was great and the Golf that was also there looked stunning, totally unpineappled and only 17000 miles from new!

We had one issue with a women who took a shine to my car and asked, seriously, if she could pose naked with it like a pirelli calendar before showing her knickers and that she had no bra on and running off with the photographers umbrella...

I reckon the photos will look stunning though, I took a couple too.

Then a friend of the writer came by in her stunning early Maestro 1.3L "Special". It was mint with only 38k.#

Unfortunately the hot weather and the consent start, move, stop, start, move, stop etc ended up upsetting my little car somewhat and it broken down across a junction just as i left the university! One chap came and helped saying it was the coil but the carb window was empty so i think it was fuel starvation, I took a plug out whilst the wife rang green flag and it has a weak spark, then it started up on 3 cylinder, so i popped the plug back it and it ran again, yay.

And thankfully the car made it home again without any fuss!

And the issue with the lady was :)

Fixed the high level brake light on the Saab. The contacts were really corroded so 5mins with a wire brush and electrical cleaner followed by a rub of vaseline and jobs a good un. Love simple things like that :)

Just did a quick tally up and I have piloted 23 different automobiles in the last 12 months of driving. I also made this shonky infographic of most of them. The remaining three were a Vauxhall Vivaro, a new Mini Clubman and Dickie's A35 (but that was only for about 300 yards so barely counts)

They range from a 328cc two-stroke twin to a 4.4l V-12, with most things in between. PRACE BETS NOW for how many different things the next 12 months will bring

So is taking a picture of a German car and a Japanese car in front of Coventry Cathedral an exercise in showing that what they couldn't do to the British car industry with bombs, they could do with cheap reliable hatchbacks?
