Vulg. I bet its the plastic clip on the pedal that's broken . Real swine to replace too.

It will be the clip that's failed, but they seem to go as the clutch gets heavier before it fails completely. A sort of forewarning!

Posted

there should be a ready market for those clips in metal - if only someone would make them. I need one for my spare* (broken) XM clutch cable.

Taking the Mercedes Slk for an early mot this morning as thinking of keeping it.

Stand by for long list of expensive repairs needed.

Passed with just an advisory for a tyre.

Mucho surprised......

You know how I said nothing* could go wrong onthe c70's MOT............?

Well it passed first time and even the tester commented on what nice condition it was in

MGF collection was a failure - the car was pretty rough which I did expect but to the seller's apparent surprise and slight embarrassment the battery was totally flat with no way to jump start it so walked away (t was described as 'starts and runs well').  No great loss, the header tank was almost empty and had a lot of oily muck in it so it almost certainly had the usual HGF anyway.  Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and go home!  It was only 8 miles so no big deal.

It's still pretty lame, but not a Ford reference ;)

I used to race a variety of their boats, never was 'cool' enough to have one of those stickers, though.

VAG SHITE MINGEBAG ALERT. This is alright for a £450 car running on food waste! I wonder what it'd do on diesel.

It's pretty miserable to drive, but loves the veg and gets me to and from work reliably.

Car advertising fail! Sorry to hear the car wasnt as expected. I was starting to think phil_lihp towers was fast becoming a mid 90s Rover dealership!

At least it wasnt the other end of the country or anything.

63 mpg is impressive never mind the fact your running it on fatbergs.

VAG/VOLVO SHITE MINGEBAG ALERT. I cheated a bit here, it was a very sedate drive back from the petrol station. I've replaced some bulbs and turned off the Service light since.

I am getting seriously shit mpg from my BMW. Every 5 series I've had has done 30-32 mpg but this thing can't crack 25. Going from 45 to 25 mpg hurts!

I definitely haven't tried some SIK DRIFTIN SKILLZ in the brand new Nissan Bastardo Turbo Warrior Twatcase crew cab pick-up at work, yo!

Has anyone seen the hopelessly stupid rear seats in these things? Fark me, you'd need to be knee high to a grasshopper's grand-daughter to fit in there.

All set for epic* new tat collection tomorrow. Me and the lad are taking the train down to Shrop-cester-shire in order to restore a bit of Frenchness to Sporty Towers.

I might do a thread tomorrow if I remember to take photos/can be arsed.

*obviously not epic, especially compared to Ratdats transcontinental Datsun expedition.

Lowest mpg i've had was when i was "making progress" in a Carlton Gsi 24v,alongside a 944 Turbo

Carlton was showing 8mpg on its Econometer thingy...

Although we used to have a G plated Disco V8 that regularly did 12 to the gallon.

Now that was brutal.........

I made a start fitting the pin stripes this evening (which is a crap job), I don't think white was such a good colour choice after all, I'm now thinking silver instead?

I seem to recall Vauxhall trip computers won't read below 8mpg will they? Mine seemed to bottom out there.

My Audi 20v used to do 14mpg thanks to various faults such as airflow meters, and an exhaust gas leak meaning I had to have the aircon on all the time or be gassed.

I had the Jag reading 7mpg the other day. 7!

Personal best in the 535i was 200 miles to a full tank-£107!

About 90 miles of that was driving to/from the trackday.

The xj40 4.0 liked to consume £20 any time it moved-regardless of distance. It's chrome arches and my location meant you could offer folks "a £10 bag of skag" then shoot off with the cash;)

Been down to the viewing for the Cheffins vintage sale at Sutton (Cambs) today. Some proper grotty chod wheeled out including a Rolls Corniche laid up since the 80s and a fab old smoker Daimler V8250. Once Flickr does it's thing I'll put plenty of pics up.

I had a trip far into cornwall today. Knowing the MPG friendly route and lightish traffic i took the bx. Got 67mpg out of It! Sounds barely credible but light weight, tall gearing and a few psi over the usual tyre pressures etc etc squeezed it. Beats my last best which was also out of a psa xud- a pug 405 turbo diesel estate.

Jeepers. Best I ever managed was 56mpg in it. Mind you, that was at motorway speeds.

Don't be too quick to dismiss that Trigger, I reckon the white will look properly nice when the whole flank is done where the silver will just sort of melt into the acres of luscious blue paint.

I had a poorly xj12 series 3 and that would get into double figures on a run.
