MOT pass for this little beastie today, couple of advisories for tyres but was planning on replacing them anyway before the proper winter.

Been a good buy this, but I'm tempted to replace it with something with a bigger engine and two pedals having sold the CRV last week. Despite the R DESIGN frock it's wearing it's a bit gutless being the 1.6. We shall see

surely holey sills aren't going to "adversely affect braking or steering"

Depends just how holey, I guess...

"Changing axle shaft bearings and seals" quickly turns into "changing axle shafts, bearings, seals and rear brakes"...

I hate drum brakes.

Swapped the tyres over on the 75 so now has a good tyre (back to a matching set of 4) and good rim on the NSF (£15, very reasonable IMO) but the vibration persists, its really bad, even the door pins rattle above 40mph. It almost certainly feels like a tyre but I'm unclear which one. I do know that the tyre Ive put back on went flat for a bit, possibly a flat spot that will iron out with use? They are all less than a year old so Id have thought they be malleable.

Good news is the flapping noise has gone. There was a small triangular section of undertray at the OS corner which was loose but flapping up the way at 30mph. 2 cable ties and no more of that noise and I also don't need to worry about the gearbox!

Ive put it away for now as the battery is very weak and needs replaced and I think its going to need tyres too. Perhaps a set of reasonably priced Starspokes will come up nearby.

Not an engine mounting is it? Theres a hydraulic (hydramount?) that fails.

I think “The lower half of your car has fucked off”, would be a serious fault.

Like many of us, I've made some comically bad car choices over the years, but this one is probably the worst.

PXL_20251027_122734469.jpg.03e5c9b5c6a98fc6f0cfd8df88e2f32c.jpg

The amount of money I may as well have set fire to makes me quite annoyed. I should have known better, I certainly could have bought better but no, as per, I buy the shit heap dressed up as a nice car.

PXL_20251027_123027333.jpg.64e8d73ef74a0a5a8ca32e140c88a1c3.jpg

I doubt these items will ever be worth anything but they were saved anyway.

I'm so sick of buying cars now. I'm lucky the ex HMC Micra is mine as it's been a trooper with this Delta fiasco. It's doing 48mpg average which is really good for a 30 year old car with 55hp. I do have a Delta replacement lined up, but the size of it is making me feel queasy and I've been lucky to find K11 sized parking spots at 2am lately.
