Ive bought a fixie.

Fuck knows why. But I quite fancy a lime green Raleigh shopper with no brakes.

It was only £20 too.

Re: Volvo leaks. Sunroof drains would be my first guess. The only Volvo I've owned disgraced itself by tipping a load of water over my wife's head when I pulled away once. Sweden has never been forgiven for this.

Would have been my first guess too but this one is sunroofless. Crosses something off the list at least. Also discounted today were heater matrix leaks as it's definitely water and not antifreeze, so that's another thing to be thankful for.
Since the windscreen has been replaced at some point I think it might be a leaking from the screen. According to the internet they're also bad for blocked scuttle drains causing havoc but mine seem to be clear.
This is still better than electrical faults.

I know you say the floor is there in that Volvo picture, but my brain seems convinced it's not and I'm actually looking at a bit of grass on the concrete below.

if it was a genuwine "A" reg it would have a separate rear washer in center of tailgate above boot lock not the all in one deeley as on that one has

When I was looking for a "Chopper" for my retro wife about 10 years ago I must have rang up many an ad in Loot hoping they were the aforementioned but turned out to be these. I think I even went on a 100 mile round trip to Great Harwood as the old dear was convinced she had a Chopper. No dear it's a SHOPPER! Anyway as you were...

SFQ - How did you determine this?

SFQ - How did you determine this?

Apparently it's sticky and smells/tastes sweet....At least that's what I'd read when Googling the wet floor issue yesterday. What I had wasn't sticky and it smelt bad enough for me not to bother tasting it.

OK, i'd heard that before, yet I'd practically licked up the entire puddle in my footwell thinking,

'is this sweet?'

How sweet is this supposed to be?

If it's anti freeze of any strength at all, you can taste it.

Posted

Yeah, taste a small bit, if it makes you do a face like a cat's arsehole, it's probably antifreeze...

Neighbour has moved in a few doors down with one of these:

It appears to be in regular use, certainly not as shiny as the one pictured and has smaller accompanied by a SAAB 900 / 9-3.

I love the rear wheel arches. It pleased me.

Ah yes, a Proton Sport, I had great fun in one of those when it was traded in at a garage I used to work at.

Taking the 504 in the morning to my favoured fabricator/ resto man who did a great job of the crusty wob filled back end of the jag. The idea is to see-

a. What he thinks of the rain gutters and surrounding metal work,

b. A rough price for said work.

Its got to earn its keep so ill be pencilling it in for early 2015.  It has spread to the roof in a couple of places, and if he gets stuck in before long i bet the windscreen will be out and the front wings off, so it isnt going to be cheap when its finished. Did someone say moneypit?

I finally managed to get half of the front brakes sorted on the alfa. What should have been a simple remove old, crap caliper, bolt on shiny refurbed job turned into replace solid line to flexi pipe, replace flexi pipe and the solid line from the flexi to the ABS unit running along the bulkhead. I've never done brake lines before and don't want to again if I can help it. Gotta do the other side now.

Oh, and just to piss on my bonfire, when I started it up, it's now making a horrible grumbly whirring noise from the cambelt area, followed by a faint burning smell. I suspect one of the tensioner bearings have failed, despite it being fine before it was parked up a few months back. A full cambelt kit fitted on one these will not leave much change from £800. So now I don't even want to start it up in case the bastard gives up.

I love cars, me.

It was birthday today. I had the day off. I spent the day sanding body filler on the van. I really hope to get it painted by the end of summer...

Last night I just decided to go on a drive, took the stag which fires up fine after being stood for a couple of weeks. I don't like the fact everyone thinks of it as a obvious classic but I love the noise and it has been utterly reliable.

Still I want something more obscure.

Eh, I felt that way with the Sprite. It felt like cop out classic ownership but I loved driving it and that's all that matters.

Few cars sound as good as a Triumph Stag. I'd love one. Drove one once with a Rover V8 in it. Utterly ruined! Didn't sound anywhere near as good, and the steering was too light.

On the subject of AXs, I spotted a clean looking GT for sale 5 minutes up the road for £1100 ono. I was tempted to give him a ring, but I don't really want something that small
