can you not get a secondhand driveshaft Wat? There must be plenty of dead 440/60/80's knocking about that could donate one. Whats up with the old one?

SCTSH bludgeoned it to death trying to the get the starter motor out. No other way to access it. One of the CV boots has broken up (or so Station's mutually favourite MOT tester reckons) and all that seems to be available are those god awful cut n' glue jobs. Given that the shaft is a bit paggered anyway and I have a new set of roll pins, I might as well get a new shaft so it's done and right.

I've never heard of a driveshaft being ruined like that before....What on earth was he doing? Boots are 10 a penny, theyre all more or less the same so I'm sure that can be sorted. How about boshing a pic up of the problem? Seems hellish to have to get a driveshaft from Europe for that.

Them stretchy over boots work loads better than I thought they would, I put one on my grans mk3 fez and it slipped over the cone in seconds and ended up being a really good fit.

He had to drill the roll pins out.

SRS, most of the boots I can get are those 'orrible ones. I just accept that finding parts for it is often a PITA.

Had my chimney swept today, old chap.

When he'd done i followed him out to his van.

A Belingo with windows, the drivers one was jammed up with a bit of wood.

He threw the babg of soot and his brush and poles onto the cloth seats

While he took his hat off then moved them to behind the seats.

Its blue, watch out for it.

It'll be a complete nightmare for someone.

I made a tribute to Bodie today entirely by accident, wheelspinning out of a road end in the Princess.  I'm not sure it's what he would have wanted.

It looks like game over for the 147. My lad thinks he's twatted a speedbump and it's leaking oil from the sump

The winter boots for the Sirion have arrived. They look brand new, Avons, £140 delivered. For four. Well chuffed. Will get them fitted at some point fairly soon. Sirion currently favourite for carting us to northern Scotland at some point in the next two months.

It's outside his mate's house, going to tow it back tomorrow. He's saying he CBA now but we'll have a look at it then decide.

Billy - with the number of Alfa's being scrapped for tinworm and snapped cambelts I would expect parts to repair the 147 to be cheap and readily available.

I've just suggested to the other half that buying an MCW Metrobus might be a good idea (ex WMPTE obviously). She agrees! Though I'll need to find some money.

This marks a big change. When that coach company not too far away in Wales had a clearout last year, I was expressly forbidden from lobbing any cheeky offers in to buy one.

I've no idea what I'd do with a bus, but as I haven't got any money and need to get saving for a while, I've got plenty of time to think of something.

Catch me up, everyone - Dollywobbler's wife is fictional and we're all just humouring him, right?

Dollywobbler is clearly planning Twin Town 2. Bagsy I get to drive the fake snake across the rugby pitch.

There's loads of good reasons to have a bus.  The only one I can think of now is Autoshite Excursions to the auctions.

Hey look I got off my arse and did something productive.

At some point my dash had been painted with Hammerite - in situ and without removing any of the gauges. So I pulled it out, stripped it back to metal and went at it with a matt black aerosol. Looks great, except for the bit I chipped pulling the capillary gauge tube through  We'll see how it stands up to the keys rubbing against it. My indicator tell tales are much better now that they aren't painted over.

Headlamp flash never worked so I sorted this too. For a reason I hopefully never discover, someone had removed all traces of the wiring. Ran a wire from the switch to a junction box under the bonnet and everything's fine. Wish I'd done that a year ago.

You need to have a little chat with Chris as there are lots of busses at the Farm

That dash came up well! Funny how people often overllok details like that ( myself included) when we spend most of our time stareing at it!

I've got the soul destroying job of properly cleaning the jag wire wheels to look forward to.

Any other winter jobs planned on the sprite?

The exhaust is trying to escape so I suppose I need to sort that out.

I thought about having a stab at cleaning my wire wheels but after taking one off I thought better of it and just put it back

Went to a foggy Kings Lynn to pick up a wing for Very Shitpeas's buggered 205. On the way back I saw some tail-lights disappear into the trees

vkhr.jpg

No-one hurt, just a bit shaken. Unmarked police car, marked police car, 2 fire engines and an ambulance car later I go to leave. Because I'd been in a bit of a rush to check they were ok I'd left the lights on so the AX wouldn't start. Breakdown van arrives at the same time as the flatbed for the TVR.

DW, Metrobus eh? I might know one or two things about those if you need a hand! I'd suggest a National would be more up your street though, as you've driven one before and, anyway, it's the Autoshite bus of choice! Might know one or two things about those too!

Chance to play buses? will travel, have tools!

Blimey. Glad nobody was seriously hurt, and well done for being Johnny On The Spot to help out.

It seems its quite dangerous to drive a TVR. Who'd have ever thought it?

Do those MetroBus things have the 4.0 diesel Merc engines? They seem to last forever and you'll only ever use first gear once every twenty years to make sure it's still there.

Nah, 10.45 litres of raw Gardner power! All 170bhp of it (WM ones were derated from 180bhp) Voith three speed transmission and a top speed of about 43 mph in bus form.

With possibly the most fearsome retarder known to man. GR9 4 flying pensioners!

I was bidding on a magazine on e-bay and the idiot seller cancelled my bid.

What's that all about then eh?
