Right.  Finchley achieved.  Saab handed over to new custodian.  Now waiting for Uber driver Shafiq to turn up and take me to WC1X.  Still not entirely sure if I'm on a collection or not.

Colour combo on that 75 has more than a hint of Gin Palace about it.  I don't hate it, though I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say I like it either, I'm just glad it exists.

My mate had a zt, thought he'd had it lowered, nah, probably just the amount of water in it, front scuttle drain, rear light seals, rear window seal, all seats n carpets out, took days taking it apart and drying it. Reassembled, quick test drive, lovely. Next day he lends it to a dick, that obviously couldn't /shouldn't of been driving, straight thru, up and over a roundabout bouncing of the trees like a bowling ball off skittles. Zt dead!

Happened to be doing a delivery next door to the Saab specialist 2-Stroke to Turbo in Hertfordshire this morning, so I popped in to have a look at their Saab hive on my 45 minute driving break:

These three 99s really grabbed my attention. I've not seen early 99s like the first two for many years:

However, my favourite car of the three was the brown one, as not only was it more 'me' (cellular foam bumpers, big indicators and original paint/patina FTW), it was the same age as me 

All three cars are for sale, but they're far too expensive for the likes of me 

Pawnote: The 96 Anniversary in the background is a very well-known car in Saab circles and is in the midst of being fettled.

Really glad to have a removal company doing all the hard grunt. It did feel wrong just sitting around watching them do all the work.

I'm hoping longer term I can put a door through the back of the garage on the left and put a hard standing out the back. Then put a carport type area over it to keep the worst of the elements off. 

Basically overflow area for excess cars in progress

Garage floor needs sealing and a roller door put up first. Then kitchen replacing.

Rideons are great if new,but once they're a few years old you spend an hour fixing them before every mow.One of the main reasons for that is because the microswitches in the safety interlocks lose continuity.As there are 5 or 6 of them it becomes time consuming to find out which one is in trouble.

Well I had to have a go starting it today. Removal guy was distracted helping me too.

Anyway battery was dead so I resorted to pulling the cord. Got it going after 6 or 7 pulls with it revving it's tits off. Engine speed control didn't make any difference, even though it is moving something on the carb. Reverse doesn't work but forward did on the hydrostatic gearbox. I put the leaver a bit too far forward and slipped off the clutch. This led me wheeling it and shooting off towards the back wall in the garage!?

Looks like it'll need a bit of tinkering. No idea why reverse isn't working.

Noticed a bit of the rubber underseal on the sill of the Audi hanging down today so I investigated when I got home.

The underseal on the whole length of the sill was peeling at the bottom. I got a Stanley knife and sliced off the material just above where the rust stopped, about 2 cm up. I had to remove quite a bit.

Being a pre A series Audi,  it was only slight rusty blemishes rather than proper rust, 30 seconds with my bandfile and some stonechip later and its fixed.

That apparently unpainted bit on the right is actually a rubber pipe, not sure what it's for as the fuel and brake lines are further under and smaller in diameter.

Had this been my Corsa (which it usually is) it would be branflakes in the driveway.

It's a handsome bugger even in the sleet last weekend.

Is it the drain pipe for the rear of the roof, if so make sure they are cleaned regular.

Its at the front of the sill, I think it might be a scuttle drainpipe.

I learned to drive in a black G-reg SAAB 900 and was very fond of it. Each door weighed the same as my mum's 2CV, I especially loved the hiss from adjusting the ventilation controls and the way the ignition switch would get drowned when I left the rainroof open. Such a hefty charismatic handsome barge.
