Funds requested for house purchase. It'll come in a minimum 24 hours and maximum of 5 days. Marked as urgent priority because of situation, so should (possibly) be done in time but no one will make any guarantee.

House sale completes on the 4th March and we have to legally move out then.

Need to let the removal company know if our stuff needs to go into storage by tomorrow first thing. Might just have to take the punt it'll happen on Wednesday.

Farrrrrrrk...

Started tidying the garage a bit as I'm planning on getting the Triumph out at the weekend. I opened the bonnet to see a little face looking at me. He then jumped out and managed to run along the door to the boot.

As I get to the back he runs back to the front.

IMG_20200302_164958.thumb.jpg.d873e933bf5d0485b94771f0a7ef9d57.jpg

And then back again.

IMG_20200302_165055.thumb.jpg.4bf4872e0121765d69d13b225125c0dc.jpg

Then he comes round the drivers side and of course I'd left the window open so he jumps straight in the car. Bugger. Though it seems he's been in before as a polystyrene cup I'd left under the back seat had been nibbled away at.

But he's obviously been living in the bulkhead which is not good. I keep a couple of rags in there for cleaning the dipstick and general wiping of oil and these had been chewed into little bits with lots of leaves added for extra comfort. This is after I'd removed most of it.

I always leave the bonnet popped as if I don't use it for a few weeks (and it hasn't been out since before Christmas) it helps to prime the fuel pump before starting. So that little gap and this bit of nibbling of the seal that runs round the scuttle...

IMG_20200302_171712.thumb.jpg.7ac8a1167376f0b42407cba893dcbac8.jpg

... was enough to get in.

I knew I had a guest in the garage because the bird seed I keep in there had been got at and all the sunflower seeds had been removed and taken to a different part of the garage to be opened. I wouldn't mind if he stayed in the garage and there are plenty of nooks and crannys he could make himself at home in but moving into the car itself is not good. You hear about them chewing wiring. Fortunately it all still works at the mo but I have now ordered some of these.

And my job for the weekend is to get the Triumph out properly, take the seats out and give it a damn good hoovering.

I'd get an plug-in ultrasonic repeller, much less hassle. One rapidly evicted the squirrels from our loft.

We tried one of those to stop the neighbours cats shitting on our lawn. Didn't work. Anyway I've already ordered the above now. We'll see what happens.

that little mouse is SOOOOO sweet, but i know the damage they can do.

at some point in the past one has been behind the dash of Rodney Mini, and the number of earths we had to sort through caused by nibbled wires :-(

at one point there were a couple of "tame" mice at the factory, nicknamed Austin and Rover.

they would sit and watch the guys in the tool room at breaktime, and gratefully accept crumbs and scraps off them.

well until the arsehole managers found out about them, well the less said about that the better.

the tool room staff were too a man saddened, furious, and disgusted.

oddly though when we had that dirty rat in our shed, i had no worries at all about killing it!

Cat ears have a different frequency response to rodents. They can hear noise in the ultrasonic region but it's not very loud for them.

Are there any rodent urine stains in the upholstery or carpeting? Might want to give those a bit of a shampoo and disinfectant  ...

I can't see any stains but the front seats are black and the carpets are already shot.

But as I say plans for the weekend are a bit of a deep clean. It can wait til the weekend because the garage is a bit restricted and I have to move two Skodas to get it onto the drive and we're in a permit parking area and only one Skoda has a permit so lots of shunting and too lazy.

I have no intention of killing it, hence the humane traps, though I'm not sure what I do if we do trap it.

I had ultrasonic plug ins in my last place. Found a mouse had taken a liking to my CX’s spare wheel tray and shredded the tea towel rag. And left little pellets all over the place. Robert dyas has them , but so I expect does amazon.

If anyone is going to the field of classics auction in Evesham this Saturday and wants a preview of the state of some of them, this video just appeared on my youtube.

Are either of these guys on here? They certainly love a bit of old chod.

I once had a rodent with an ultimately fatal taste for LHM.

Surprised how quickly it decomposed....

I'm sure the rat felt quite deflated too.

That was a great watch.

When using humane traps, release the rodent at least half a mile away from where you caught it.  If you don't, it'll just take up residence again.  You'll likely catch about half a dozen before you get rid of the problem too, it won't just be the one mouse.

Finally, about nine months later, I'm on Street View with my cars (and my mum).

I miss the 850 a lot, and the Mazda a little.

Had you both been outside for long, waiting for the camera car to go past?

Apparently, and I haven't personally tried this but those tumble dryer scented sheets like 'bounce' deter many things when they are placed around. It is said that rodents and such use their sense of smell to detect danger and if they can't smell an area, they won't go there. Plus your car will smell nice.

Is this the opening scene from the little-known Romero horror 'Night of the living chod'?

What a load of shonky rammel; who's attending this then?

Best thing Smith and Sniff have done on their channel, though clearly Porter is slumming it a bit, whereas Johnny actually wants to take some of them home!

Your keyboard will have a "print screen" or perhaps "prnt scrn" or even "prt sc" button on it somewhere; press it then paste into photoshop or whatever photo/image editor programme you have.

Someone just posted this on FB, it used to belong to forum member J-J on here, looking back he had it about 8 yrs ago. Anyone remember?

I bought it from him long before I was ever signed up here. It kills me to see it like that, but it was rough when I had it and I don't think the guy I sold it too was the right man to keep it going and it was not worth much then.
