Brill that Trigger, I reckon you'll love whanging round in that.

Trig - looks good. SORN dies with owner change, so -if its not to be taxed this month, paper SORN it towards the end of the month.

Another Mk1 Civic in the AS family, excellent! 8)

When you get that Civic on the road I think you should challenge Mrs_Trig to a race round the Ipswich ring-road, (if there is such a thing)

That looks excellent. I bet it'll clean up nice too. How long was the MOT? It might just be worth slinging it in for another one if there's nothing obvious it'll fail on and at least then you'll have the an mot with the right reg no on it so you can tax it.

Cheers guys, the mot doesn't run out until March next year, what I've done is post the V5 back today and will get the insurance sorted so hopefully once the new V5 comes back in a few weeks I'll be able to tax it online, it won't be used for a few weeks anyway as I need to go over it mechanically first.

I was looking through the history last night, the first owner logged every single job on the car from 1978 and even has a list of all the staff members and their phone numbers at Eddy Grimsteads, I think he must have been slightly OCD!

Remember trigger this was before the internet and there was only 2 1/2 channels on the TV so people had fug all else to do. It was either that or build an eiffel tower out of matchsticks.

Checking over a new purchase mechanically? Seems a bit advanced. If I'd done that, I might have discovered the Merc's seized caliper before it ate the pads...

Took the 2CV out for a drive today. I've somehow managed to go a couple of weeks without driving it. The controls are so light! It's lovely. And very noisy. No wonder it's the only car my wife will drive.

In other news, ordered a load of brake stuff for the Merc today. Should keep me busy for a bit once it all arrives. I've never worked on a car that has disc and drum in the same corner before, so it'll be a learning curve. I've not ordered new shoes - I'll see what they're like first.

Currently discussing with the seller the logistics of purchasing and...um...retrieving this beauty for a quick parts scavenge followed by a little trip to the nearest weighbridge.

It would be rude not to.

My latest purchase. It's not shite as such, but it was cheaper than lots of the shite we talk about... Tool Eater Gear as well. It's already saved me £30 in fuel this week just running about. I quite like it. It's not bad at all.

By the way, anyone in the NW got a load cover for one of these? Black or dark grey. Tis the only thing missing other than the n/s/f mud flap.

Pete aside from an ST170 estate that'd pretty much my ideal spec. I loved my Hatch 2 lire ghia but the estate is so much more useful.

Good God, that's vile. Have you tried A1 breakers in Ellesmere Port for the load cover?

Looks like I'm going to get the XJR on Sunday. Thanks to the unique way Fife trains are funded I can only get as far as Kircaldy before I have to get a bus or ride a donkey to get to Methil.

Just totted up the cars I've driven since passing my test -

1925 Trojan Utility

1938 Lincoln Zephyr V12

1938 Ford V8 Woodie

1954 Lancia Aurelia B12

1955 Standard 8

1964 Citroen Ami 6

1968 Alfa Giulia 1600 Super

1981 Austin Allegro

I am a lucky, lucky little boy - I always wanted to drive an Allegro.

When are you going drive your first real car like a Vauxhall Corsa B or 1 litre Peugeot 205 those are all way too glamourous (other than the allegro).

I think the Mk1 Focus is definite shite. Shite isn't 'crap' necessarily, just what the majority of people consider undesirable. The Mk1 Focus is definitely well off the radar of most folk. They must be shite because I'm tempted to get one. The wipers annoy me though...

Have had a spectacularly good day of greenlaning. I really do like my Disco. Struggled in a couple of places, largely due to the shite, mis-matched tyres. Didn't get stuck, just suffered traction issues.

Was accompanied by folk from the Nissan 4x4 Owners' Club, even though me and an other local have defected to the Green Oval. The bog standard Nissan Patrol did very well. I need to get saving for a matching set of All-terrains. Disco didn't miss a beat, but one of the (frankly shite) rear mud flaps did fall off. I'll remove the other one before it gets the chance to do likewise.

Sadly there is a slight oil weep from the radiator. The fittings for the oil cooler seem to lack an o-ring, but the chap fitted them anyway. It seems they really do need an o-ring.

My 99 Volvo S80 suffered an engine failure, suddenly the oil pressure was gone. Dead, next one please. On the same day, my Camry refused to start in front of a supermarket. My brother towed me home. So two car breakdowns on one day, one of the cars now dead.

That´s what I call a result. Did I mention the engine in my Pajero sounds strange, not as it should? Oh, and the Leone is not ready for the road after it´s restauration. Great! :-?

Did I inadvertently purchase a shite car then? It's the face lifted version, I like it - reasonable on fuel, but just plain boring. What is it about the wipers that annoy?

The Rover 820E got picked up today and trundled its way to its new home. I didn't (think to) get a shot of it sitting in its new garage, despite being located in a dead end cul-de-sac type street, there seemed to be awful lot of traffic wanting to get by the recovery truck.

Anyway, here it is being picked up:

Now all that's left is to try and home the G-reg Sterling back under cover.

It's the way the top of the passenger wiper arc doesn't meet the driver's wiper arc, so you get an annoying dribble. My Peugeot 306 was the same and I spent 40,000 miles hating it. It's just not neat! May have to adjust the Disco's wipers slightly as it does the same to a much lesser degree.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who get's annoyed by wipers, the ones on the 205 judder like mad in anything but a monsoon so will be replaced, and the Audi's are suicidal, meaning that they work perfectly until they try to throw themselves at pedestrians/traffic/motorways signs. I've gone through a couple of types of blades so I assume it's the arms.

You haven't experienced miserable wipers until you've used a Triumph GT6 whose wipers appear to be purely for show while travelling down the M1 to view a rotten Princess in monsoon weather with a driver whose concept of stopping distances is vague at best.
