Upcycled  mower  handles :-D   ,and a bit of chequer plate

Reunited with an old flame.... and yes, that's where my username comes from

This beauty found ME loads of years back. Was selling a petrol Volvo V70, guy turns up with his p/ex and when I saw it was a V6 Laguna I had to do my best disinterested act to avoid giving away the excitement.

Anyway I daily-ed it for a good while, then a mate bought it off me as a "stop-gap" which ended up becoming two years. I sorted him out with a Rav-4 a few weeks back and the Lag is back with me, 22k miles and no MOT later.

It needs quite a bit of work now despite being utterly reliable and never letting anyone down. It hasn't had an oil change in my time with it, the brake discs and pads are done on all four corners, two springs broken, key card disintegrated (starts the car but nothing more), sat nav thinks it's back in France, tyre pressure sensors need deactivated. Probably not worth spending the money on but there's something about it, it just never gives up and performs work horse duties brilliantly under the hushed tones of a thirsty V6. I do have the '06 V6 Initiale Estate too, but the phase one Lag II is really becoming a rare sight, and I know it's got so much more to give. We'll see what the New Year brings...

I see you've a lovely looking S40 sitting about, may have to get in touch after Christmas if it hasn't sold.....

Also need to get shot of 1 working Roomster, 1 dead Roomster and 1 dead Merc

That's incredible.  How does anyone think it's fine to just drive around with a wheel completely locked up?

Tyneside, m8 .... Several 'locals' drove round on the skinny-spacesava for long enough to rust the paint/'DoNotUse further than' label off :/

Wife just sat reading some auction catalogue for antiques that came through the door...

The smell of the pages reminded me of collecting brochures at the 92 Motorshow at the NEC with my dad.

Good times.

If there is any doubt as to the practicality of old cars:

A4 box file?

Rather heavier - an old safe. Had to stop on one hill as it didn't like it in 2nd, had to hill start from rest quickly or else roll backwards down the valley.

Hows that practical if it won't go up the hill?

hence the high ratio reverse gear fitted to cars  .... reverse up the hill ?

Soooooo

Roomster no.1 passed MOT last week.

This week, it's rewarded us by flashing a low oil pressure light and promptly seizing. Bumhats.

As the Mrs does big miles, we've decided the policy of many disposable cars isn't working, so we went all out and bought a nearly new Hyundai i30 with barely 25k on the clock and a couple of years warranty left on it.

Hopefully she can now enjoy a few years of hassle free motoring. She deserves it, it's the nicest car she's had after me foisting various heaps on her over the years.

So that now leaves me with a working Roomster with many niggles, a borked Roomster and a borked W203.

After Christmas I'd sorely love to consolidate them all into something more interesting.......

Sorry to hear about that fella, was it a 1.4tdi that seized?

Yeah......140k on it though and questionable how well the previous owners looked after it

41 bhp side valve + old safe + Welsh hill = stoppage.

On a rally Conrad and I were swiftly overtaken by a Ford A, but it was over twice the engine size. They don't have hills in Oxford.

Thought it would be, 1.4's tend to seize when oil pump chain goes or balancer shafts seize as you probably know and 1.9's like to eject rods through the side of the engine. But for some reasons 08 regs are worst affected.

considering you say theres a safe in the back, the suspension looks to be dealing with that remarkably well, on a modern car I imagine its arse would be dragging along the ground like a constipated dog...

+1 for the old chod :)

Can't see properly for the boot lid.

Isn't it basically urea, so the VIZ Top Tip is to piss in the tank in an emergency?

No. Old wives tale.

Our London office has got new coffee machines. Three per floor, over six floors. They make nice coffee.

And then I idly Googled them. £10k each...

Fuck.

Had to call old man as I need a scaffold pole or something.

Old sock full of ball bearings would be easier to conceal?

I think I did London motorfair @ Earls Court with my dad and brother in 91 or 93, or both - can't bloody remember any more!

I had some 1970 GM brochures sent over by a Canadian Uncle when I was, oh about 10 years old.   They had a very particular smell which I like to imagine I can still detect when I get them back out.   Takes me right back....

Our office building where all the people on lots of money who do nothing are has about six of them!

We get a kettle & a tap where the water tastes & smells like it's come from the sluice.

I believe the collective term is "senior management".

Yeah Adblue is about one third urea whereas your piss is only about 2-3% so it's not gonna work.  Will future WVO enthusiasts also set up a distillation plant to make free Adblue?  Not sure i could get that one past the missus...

Woke up this morning to realise I've put the wife's new car on my insurance instead of hers.....

Which means my car is sitting uninsured and her old car is still insured.

Not like me either. At least none of the cars have been used yet.....
