Is there a button on the dash near the ignition that you've always wondered what it did? The ZX has one and after I'd disconnected and reconnected the battery and had flashing headlights and stuff going on, I found out that if you press and hold it down as you turn the key in the ignition, it stops all of the flashing of lights etc.. It may take more than one go.

Edit: here's the button in the ZX.

Thanks, I've found a button on the steering column that looks like it might be the one. I'll give it a prod later.

There might be a fuse you can remove that disables the alarm altogether, there was on the pre-gopping Xantia.

Bit of a run today. Morning trip to Beaconsfield as an Autoshite Courier, delivering a Vax Floormate and filter kit to "beko1987", followed by a quick U-turn and coast back down the M40/A40 and misery driving through central London to get to Sydenham, where I stripped some parts off a dead CX....

What's the story of the Toyota Corolla next to CX... ;)

I didn't ask about that one, but next to that is a 2005 Ford Focus TDCi which needs a new dual-mass flywheel....

Oh you went to that FB dive dealer who puts their stock in a field?!

They had the ropiest P5 I have ever seen for sale at one stage.

It's a very big field. I'm not on Farcebook, and dive dealer he might be, but he had the parts I wanted, and didn't ask much money either. He did mention having a P5B....

That reminds me I need to buy a litre of LHM.

Alternator change in the street on a Lexus RX300 is about an hour and a half and can be done without other dismantling.

Sadly the damn thing wasn't the cause of the horrific bearing noise I am experiencing :( will try it with the belt off tomorrow to see if I can eliminate the A/C compressor

I've been chipping away with a few jobs on the Marina over the last couple of months, when i last drove it in August the car lost all power and died and the suspension rattled so I've had it in piece sorting the problems out, it needed the steering rack rebuilt, a proper fuel cap fitting (which ended up being a bigger job than expected!), the clutch slave cylinder being rebuilt and a few little jobs, the lost of power ended up being the round cup battery terminals being a lose bit on the battery, so silly jobs like that.

So after all that done it now drives really, really nicely, probably as good as new now, which isn't that surprising seeing it's only done 25000 miles. Don't listen to those who say Marinas are shit to drive, buy a nice one and they are as nice as any other car from it's period.

Today i had one of my East Coast Retro car meets so i used the opportunity to take some decent photos of it.

I have been asked to display it at the NEC next month on the Marina club stand, i hope it's up to standard.

How do you clean under the bonnet, without getting fluids in the wrong places and the electrics to die? I'm always scared of doing an under bonnet clean that does more harm than good. Your cars are always so clean under there.

Ah, well I just sprayed all Jizer around, gave it a blast with my pressure washer avoiding all the electrical bit and then spent the hour afterwards trying to get it restarted again...

Any old spray bottle will do as long as you can unscrew the top, buy a can and just top the spray bottle up.

That's just lovely Trig. I would very much like to lick it. I may well do at the NEC then. Your Marina, my Invacar, who else is displaying? Autoshite stealth takeover?

eBay listing on the local F-reg Sunny ended yesterday at £620 reserve not met. I reckon that price was probably there or thereabouts.

Owner sent me a text today asking if I wanted to make an offer on it. If I didn't already own one I might be interested, but I would want to let my silver one go having put a bit of money and effort into it - I'd lose a fair chunk of what I've put into it, and would then have to go through the same thing again.

If it was a £50 heap it'd be worthwhile to stick on the driveway for spares, but it's too good for that even if I could snag it for Not A Lot. And I do have a gravel driveway, but I don't have the time or ability to do a Doctor-style job and make some money out of it.

If I make him an offer it will be insultingly low.......

Already got five cars T&Ted and winter's on the way - what the heck would I do with it?!

Would you be insulted if he accepted?

Sure the same question can be asked of four of your five - what the heck would you do with them?  ;-)

Does that mean your Invacar is going to be there after all? :) :)

Was there ever any doubt? Only question is whether it needs recovering to the NEC or makes it under its own power...

Ooooff! LHD, though.

...and a late one, with the bigger tail lights. Note that the reversing light is on the wrong side for UK / IRL, but NSU by this time were not going to tool up the tail lights specially for UK where sales were now very low. If a UK car, would have been a special order at the time it was first registered.

Saw just about the scariest thing last night on the M2.  Just after the Medway bridge was a coach on fire, attended by the emergency services.  We were on the opposite carriageway.  It was harrowing.

I'm glad to say that it would appear nobody got hurt, thank goodness.
