Leather is standard on GTis but was a delete option, in favour of velour.

leads off, and the min stopped.....

 

leads back on, and the car will start, take the leads off, and it stopped again.

 

shit..... guess we need a new battery. the old one is about 5 years old, so, get one ordered for tomorrow,

 

i just hope that cures the orange mini and its new "not wanting to go" behaviour.

 

and the metro goes for an mot on friday, oh joy......

Not sure about the limbs but with pacemakers the usual answer is yes. We had an employee who's implant was affected even by the big magnets they have under supermarket checkout conveyors. When I went out with him to check how he'd get on in his old job working with magnetic lifting cranes the answer was obviously very badly.

 

I know of one episode elsewhere in the company where to find out how magnetic fields affected an employees implant, they just stuck the employee in the

magnetic field. OK, it was supervised by the hospital and the manufacturers, but I wouldn't have put my name to that risk assessment!

saw it on t'internet selling site same day it was posted, with vague brief description; 'needs links n wings has rust, tyres new' n big mileage 360k' km's, but tested n relatively cheap; seller, although a Dub' -was a gent- a mid forties 'computer n laptop' rebuilder (working out of home in his well organised spare room, he was wearing  a polo shirt with his co-name, logo  n address etc digitally stitched on it'- PROFESSONAL EXECUTIVE STYLE!!..... he knew zip about cars but it had a huge service history n he had all the receipts of the cash he'd previously spunked on it; full service a month ago, n large 'audi dealership bills for all belts n some arms done in 2016... hed owned it 8 years n was second owner, been all over france n UK during the summer hence the High miles... nay towbar on it so I'll have to source one secondhand n fit that, marking the end of its pampered life so far!!

 

...apart from the round handle  of an artists paintbrush instead of a dipstick n an arodited / glued up headlamp mount; it looks 'honest enough' n seems to drive really nice... it sat about for a week on the driveway while I awaited some insurance companies to come down from some very powerful drugs n give me a sensible quote, its fully insured now tho, thankfully!!

Back from 24 hours in France/Belgium. Went to the funeral (proper Catholic one) of an aged family friend with my dad. No pics, but we did Eurostar to Lille and then my uncle picked us up to go over the border to Braine-le-Comte.

 

Car related observations are almost zero chod. Everyone* is in moderns, so spots are are mainly limited to the modern Dacias we don't get here. Broken Xedos 9 roadside spot was probably the highlight. Gifferette in a Rover 600 spotted in central Lille and a Mk1 Mondeo Ghia in Belgium only other things I remember.

 

Oh, and the French really dress 'sports casual' like the Anglo-Saxons these days...

 

The 'new' Eurostar e320's are defo smoother than the old trains as well. Quieter too.

Sadly - I think the stats are 80%+ of vehicles in Belgium are company cars. New vehicles are so expensive to buy, tax etc... it's seen as a given the company provides.... 

When they do go for older - it's usually cheque book Charlies and full on restoration of whatever they choose...... 

You have to hit the really rural areas to see proper chod in use.....

I'm completely burned out and had to stop yesterday evening, I've been non-stop since Christmas.  Last night I found out my phone had failed to inform me about a missed call and text to tell me that my grandad had been admitted to hospital.  He comes off sedation today so we'll find out whether or not he'll recover, he's a stubborn old goat so he might, but he's also in his 90s with various health problems, so he might not.  I now feel incredibly guilty for some reason, for things that are beyond my control, and even more so because I likely won't have the time, energy, or funds to get myself over to Lincolnshire when I feel that's my obligation, because he and my stepgran are distant but incredibly supportive relatives and have been for my whole life.  Still, spoke to stepgran, she seems okay, but then she always does because she's one of those women that just Gets Shit Done.

Just replaced The Aero's auxiliary drivebelt after putting it off for several days. Not a lot of fun, especially considering I'd never had to fit a serpentine-type belt before and I had the Pigeon Street theme as an earworm throughout the job.

Pawnote: The video is shaky because my hands and arms were weak and shaking after having to exert so much effort in taking the tension out of the belt tensioner, a real pig of a job which took me at least 20 goes to achieve. I'm going to hurt in the morning! 

 

Still, at least the job is done and the car's back on the road. Also, I now know how to do it next time.
