Like check every note and pick as many faults as you can with any notes that aren't perfect.

You've obviously tried paying cash into a Bulgarian bank before.......

Every note is fully inspected, and rejected for the slightest issue

Saved this from a skip a few weeks ago, a massive Dexion index rack come shelf. I'm now facing the invidious position of wondering what to put in the index boxes.

You forgot the £19,000 final payment!

To many including my eldest son that is cheap motoring as the final payment will never be in the equation....£5k down and £299 pcm is cheap.

Kids heh

Bugger about Earlpart.   One of the few suppliers who had anything for the Cowley.

On the more pleasant side of my motoring week I now have full house MoTs on all the fleet except the Fiesta which will probably have to go soon.   Nice to have a spare car but I keep wishing it was something else.

Only work needed on any of them was a rear wheel cylinder on the T25.   Yes, yes, I do MoT stuff that is exempt but my man charges £40 on the old stuff and I get the benefit of his wisdom and the chance to walk around underneath in the pit - money well spent in my book.

1965.  289.  Proper colour.

No final payment and you don't need another car to do the rest of your 12000 miles a year in.

Some might say if you are sticking 5 bar on a credit card as a down payment on a Mustang the 15mpg thirst might be killer.

6000 miles pa limits the fuel damage a bit, though!

Or

Old Mustang - appreciation

New Mustang - depreciation

The better mpg from the new one will certainly be more than offset by the fact it is losing hundreds every week

Plus the small matter of another 18K or give-it-back!

The new Mustang is lovely though. Saw a French blue one in Las Vegas and that, the new Corvette, and the Dodge Durango were the only new motors that caught my eye.

Not as much as a purple Plymouth Barracuda though. That's the sort of thing that can make a man buy Santa Pod tickets

In other news. Had a fight with the wiring loom on the Civic. Stupid design where it has to fit inside through the core metal structure of the bootlid.

Naturally the loom had all manor of barnicles coming off it.

Tried wire, string and alsorts. Nothing could grab enough. Ended up wrapping the rat's nest in tape, jabbing it through and using screwdrivers in the holes to help feed it up. Got there in the end by pure brute force and ignorance.

Had no plan on which connector went where, but luckily they all lined up with the necessary sockets. Very satisfying when it was finished.

Next up was to move the MGB finally into the garage. Ran rough when I started and struggled to accelerate. The pump busy clicking gave away that it ran out of fuel. Once refilled it ran fine.

Unfortunately had to go away wet. Really not happy about that but needs must. Also the roof on the garage looks like it's been letting some water in irritatingly. Might have to put some sealant in the gaps. Felt really guilty and odd leaving it there, away from home.

TT arrived. No pics as cba. I guess a car that doesn't interest anyone here one iota.

Started a snagging list: Nearside front clonking, thermostat (running at ~75c indicated), drivers door adjust (dropped - probably weight of the door), paddle shifters are jammed (they all do that) and fit cruise control.

Front end doesn't feel particularly planted. I reckon either alignment, or whatever is loose in the nearside. Maybe the cheap tyres that are on the front aren't helping either.

Poking the rear spoiler button got it to extend but pressing the button again it only retracted in increments to start with. Once retracted I pushed it again to extend and tried retracting again. This time it refused to do anything. That'll teach me for stabbing random buttons!

Looking online, it seems common. Might also explain why I often see TT with extended spoilers. I just thought it was people manually extending them to look cool*. In hindsight they're probably just broken and jammed. So it appears greasing the spoiler is another thing on my to-do list.

Car goes like shit off a stick though. Sounds crap at idle but when going for it, it sounds alright and makes cute parping noises.

It's TOM I was with, but I never wanted to work with them originally. I worked for a large Aberdeen based haulage firm who decided to rid themselves of the maintenance side of things. So offloaded that two two different groups (One to work on the trucks, other on Trailers), TOM picked up the contract for the truck side of things and I was Tupe'd over to them, So all that changed at the start was who paid the wages (Worked in the same building and on the same motors, etc) but things never really worked out from what I can see...and 18 months down the line us that stayed are without a job and the Haulage firm are without maintenance of there trucks. And its a big fleet! Personally I never felt I was part of the TOM group, we were our own little thing who I felt was forgotten about.

But yeah, there is no Merc dealership HGV dealer/maintenance in Aberdeen now, nearest Merc garage is Dundee...And from all the chatter im hearing It could be a clusterfuck to get it all sorted quickly. Personally I could't give a fuck.

But, it's looking as if I'll be back in a Job come Monday! At the same haulage firm...

You'll be round the corner from me at Kirkhill then. Did wonder if there was a tie-up with a lot of Actros in the fleet now and some obvious TOM trailers.

If there is uncertainty about Merc backup in the area maybe they'll go back to their traditional favourites Daf and MAN, now euro 6 has seen an end to the engine issues? Norscot will be rubbing their hands!

Good news on the job front.

Good news re the new/old job chief! Will you get redundancy as well?

Well I’m up early can’t sleep nothing new there! As the mrs daily has basically shit itself and I’m on call today also living on the gateway to wales so the roads will be bloody chocker it’s time the civic gets some loving! First up fix the speakers in the back this involves striping the interior out as I’ve got a dodgy wire!!! :(

Then order a parcel shelf as the one I have had some 6x9s in! Does anyone want these btw?

Then the front head light has a side light bulb that has shattered inside of it so I need to remove the remnants with out removing the headlight!

Let the fun commence!
