I keep seeing a K11 Micra convertible around, branded as a March.

Would it be factory? It looks well done other than the utterly hideous rear lights which I'd imagine are aftermarket.

No photo as I'm always laden with Lidl's finest* shopping.

Sounds like a JDM grey import. Should the regular K11 choptop not be obscure enough, there's always this version:

Test drove Leaf.

It's a perfectly acceptable thing, not exciting but not horrible unlike most modern cars I've driven.  Has some room inside and can carry five in comfort, including two in child seats.

Unless I'm being totally screwy with the maths, at 8k, a bank loan over three years, plus electrickery, has roughly equal monthly costs to fuelling a borrowed Picasso.

Sums now being checked by a maths teacher.

I can't wait till all the free leccy car charging points start costing money.

Test drove Leaf.

A work colleague (who knows nothing about cars) has one and loves it. He does, however, find the poor autonomy (especially commuting in the winter, with lights and heater on) and charging time most irritating.

Jut because as soon as people have to buy the fuel for them they suddenly won't be the future & we can then progress to something useful.

I've been quietly chipping away on the old Ital Van, buying parts and cleaning bits, and it's starting to transform. Yesterday i fitted a new exhaust system which was a right sod but transformed the sound of it, also managed to get most the crap in the back gone and cleaned out, splashed out on a new battery so it even starts perfectly on the key now and runs really quietly.

Today's transformation was it's first clean since 1994, I was the last person to wash it back in 1994!. This was before.

I've even managed to source a saloon front spoiler for it too.

Still shit loads to do but it feels more worth it now, mechanically it all seems very good, it needs new rear shoes and cylinder but i already have new cylinders and the front needs cleaning and new track rod ends but that's all to be expected. It's just the welding that's going to be the big job.

Looks a good base to start with that does trig, there used to be a modified ital van just down from where i used to live, i will have to see if its still there

Sprayed some Dinotrol into the sills of my Royale-should have done it when warmer-but every little helps.

Absolutely ! Nobody likes old Leyland shite on here anymore ! Don't bother starting a new topic, unless you have some 67-plate powerfullybuiltcompanydirectormobile to show us !

Come on, the joy of this Forum is any age, any car!

I don't think that's true. I think justs less of them on here due to them being expensive and "shite" now is much more modern stuff.

I'll be controversial here, but I agree with this.

There doesn't seem to be that much interest on here for old stuff anymore it's mainly about 90's and 00's stuff.

Maybe it's just me here seeing things that aren't there, but there seems a bit of an inverse snobbery thing at times too or an 'everything old is utter shit' attitude? Maybe I'm wrong?

I've got very little interest in stuff like that tbh, so I'll ask.

Can we have a classic shite section please!? Say anything pre 95 or something like that?

The world has changed but autoshite hasn't.unfortunately unless you were one of the lucky ones that has hung on to their cars while they went from shite to pension plan, thoughts of even a half tidy allegro are now a Pipedream for the likes of me.

If people hadn't moved on to newer stuff, this forum would have gone the way of many car clubs, younger people priced out, membership dying off.

Aye. Shite is shite because it's old enough to be shite and therefore cheap, then it progresses to older enough for people to want it as 'shite I had when I was young' and goes up in value so it's no longer cheap shite.

Sorry, I disagree.  I think there's as much if not more interest, but the cars that autoshitists are able to buy and run at reasonable value for money have turned into 90s and 00s crap, hence there's a lot more of them being talked about.

Maths has been checked, finances tentatively arranged, charge point ordered (50 mile round trip should be fine, I suppose).  Good job there's a whole section for moderns so I can share pictures of my wheeltrims and cloth seats without upsetting people.

P.S. - Hey Scary, when was the last time you did the first MOT on an electric car?

It was just the impression I got and a personal thing for me, I didn't expect this much of a reacting from an off the cuff comment!

10 years ago we was posting about Itals, Soloras and Dafs, now it's more about modern stuff that I'm less interested in but that's how things have changed, shite isn't cheap anymore.

I know Facebook is shit but I recently happened upon the group called 'sitting there rotting on a driveway'.

It has some good pics which most on here would like. Apologies if you already follow it or if the word Facebook offends.

Some pics stolen from the page to give you a flavour...

But we're still posting about Itals, Solaras and DAFs !

We're also posting about a remarkable variety of cars, from pre-war stuff to brand-new stuff, which in my humble opinion is what's great about this place !
