Because I'm a sad old man

Who's that? I'm looking on a phone so there is a possibility it's Pete Burns on keyboard.

Bugger, can you swap them over?

Not quite.. The new one is a shitbox and was destined to be a shoot runaround but I think it will soon be donating its engine instead. Complete coolant loss, suspected head gasket failure, smoking from every orifice including oil filler cap. Bastard.

HGF is a piece of piss on those, just check the 'tag' on the side of the old one to see which thickness gasket you need to order.

Toons galore in me Streetshite now courtesy of one of these badboys, my good ol' Chinese Xiaomi phone, the wonders of Bluetooth and my Deezer account

Good thing is it even has an off switch which most of the other generic transmitters appear not to include. And it kindly confirms all hunky dory in the battery department

Dropped the oil in the audi - I used my pela to suck the old stuff out.

The filter can be accessed from under the bonnet - piece of piss.

I used mannoil 5/40 from ebay fully synthetic and correct vw spec - 10l cost me £31.78 delivered.

Nothing sad or old about watching a young girl, legs akimbo running her fingers over an organ.

Gave The Volvo an engine oil and filter change at work this afternoon. It only took me 29 minutes from start to finish:

I used 'cla$$ic' 20W50 oil this time (genuine Volvo oil filter as ever, mind), due to the car having now done 236,000 miles and because I had a can of it knocking around. It seems to run a lot better for it :)

It appears that my power steering pump does have a slight leak, and guess where it drips onto...

Fucking fantastic.

TADTS..

You'll be pleased to hear that the internals of a Landcruiser alternator can be made to fit inside an LS400 alternator.

I was when SoC told me, anyway!

Someone on Dull Men's Club on Facebook recongised my car in a post about Volvos, asked if I was on 'the beige forum'. Not sure if they're a member or a lurker though.

It was sunny this morning after a misty start, so after my dawn bike ride I thought I'd take the 2cv down to Waitrose for a run to get a free coffee. Not started since the middle of August, but started ok when the fuel was pumped up. It was 11 am by now and quite a few people said they used to have one, and many kids were pointing whiltst being dragged across the carpark.

Then when I got back noticed a small grey patch on the bonnet of the merc. Not sure why. But it look like it's cloudy under the paint. Anyway, clay barred the bonnnet with bilt hamber and then gave it two coats of poor boys black hole ( emptied the bottle) and some nattys paste. Pretty good now for 23 yrs old.

Really lovely weather this afternoon so took the Ducati 900SS out for a 50 mile run. Really growing on me - doesn't have the power of the KTM, but on the other hand its much less frantic and far nicer to ride slowly.

Also checked the fuel consumption on the Xevo 400 scooter commuting  over the last two weeks (and 1,340 miles). A very creditable 93 mpg, but it's nearly all motorway ridden at 60 mph.

I'm giving serious thought to getting the clutch on the Bluebird changed while I'm in Sussex. Any garage recommendations? I have the clutch. Hopefully the right one...

"I hate this Bluebird!"

*throws even more wads of cash at it*

I know. I think it needs a starter motor now as well. To be honest, the more miles I do in it, the more I like it. It's great for motorways. Apart from not being easily able to maintain 70 up hills...

Thanks to Craig the princess for the loan of a set of Metro wheels while my own were being refurbished.

I went into Burgess Hill, and I saw this.

Misery personified. Yes, the headlamp lens does seem to have been replaced by a bit of plastic.

Should it maintain 70 up hills? My van has 64bhp and a partially clogged fuel filter, even it maintains 70 up most main road hills.

Diesels have torque though. Mind you, an NA Peugeot Expert I once drove needed fourth gear to get up motorway inclines. That was pretty terrible.
