Old Man seems to be pulling his finger out re: the A4 lately. It's had parts sprayed, replaced etc.

The mother is working on getting him to get rid as neither of us like it much, and we want a Volvo or something.

Piazza is leaking like a bastard.

The refill wiper blade the garage one before last fitted is terrifyingly shit.

Isuzu being Isuzu meant that Piazzas didn't just come with a standard wiper fitting - it used this bizarre tonearm mount thing.
An adaptor is being sourced so I can stick a modern blade on it. Sod wiper autism/joy, I need to see where I'm going.

I know that it's pretty poor form to laugh at someone who's had a car leave them stranded, but I've had a couple of moments this weekend that have made me snigger a tiny bit.

This is the 2nd.  What a story arc!

I posted this in my shite thread, but bargain chod cleaning machine alert

Perfect for the 80% of us who have leaky chod which is just easier and cheaper to let it leak and dry it out

Hahaha, like the adverts used to say: ' above all,its a Rover'

Or get a decent refill? I've 'made' blades before now and still been able to see where I'm going.

The cheap shitty Ebay blades I bought for the Bluebird turned out to be a bit of a fail. They kept trying to fall apart (which meant a horrible clunk at the end of every sweep) and the spoiler was hitting the trim at the bottom of the screen. It was just screwed on though, so I binned it.

Oldsmobile caliper now fitted. Just hope the disc cleans up with a little bit of use. Other side of disc shiny, this side not so much. Result of previous seized slider. No visible wear ridge and the pitting is not deep so may be ok.post-5532-0-66448100-1500883800_thumb.jpeg

You could do with as much rust cleaning off as you can get or it will chew into the pad as it cleans up. Knotwheel, emery, lathe etc

Some git did this to the XJ40 over the weekend.  One of the dangers of on street parking I suppose, should have been in the garage really.  I'm more miffed at the fact the OS indicator and sidelight no longer work, despite replacing both bulbs and fiddling with the connectors.

It's now on eBay as a 3 day auction as I'd decided to sell it anyway.  If that turns out a waste of time I may break it myself, as the more I look at it the more I realise how shonky it is!

That's a sad sight to see, at least its on the shagged rusty wing!

Is it still road-going? If so, i'd just drive until it dies and then break it, make the most of it!

Yes, still road going but I've got my eye on other stuff, this one is mentally out the door already!

Right, except the refills that fit are utterly shit.

Head gasket set for the Sera arrived. Oil filter for the 320's gearbox arrived. Accidentally bought two sets of caliper refurb kits for the RX8, neither has arrived. The RX8 is on the lift where the 320 or Sera need to be, with no brakes.

So I'm thinking, if I put the gasket kit and water pump on top of the engine on the Sera, close the bonnet, walk away, there'll be some jolly "magical things are happening" music, maybe a kind of waltz, and then I'll open the garage and the car will be fixed. That's how that works, right?

(Also: The whole "brake rubber seals aren't compatible with parts washer fluid" - they are not kidding. What a mess. I knew what I was doing but didn't realise it was as fast or as digusting - the seals and pistons are for the bin anyway, new ones going on - not a total idiot. Need to shotblast the old calipers, then repaint them, by the time that's done they'll be worth more than the car).

I might have a bumper for that. Pretty sure I did.

You have a Rover to focus on. Maybe you can figure out all the parts of welder that I've got and see if it's any good :D

Boot wouldn't open on the S-MX. Apparently, the thing to do is remove the inner panel, then manually operate the linkage, then lube everything up. I did this.

What a great car to work on though, because of simple stuff like this - a plastic trim clip designed to be reused! Also, the fir tree clips that also hold the panel in place can actually be reused several times with snapping - this is so unlike French and British stuff I've owned!

Now I need to remove the camshaft end gasket, smear it with instant gasket and refit, because it's pissing oil out of there like it's a Mini at the moment. Not everything about it is brilliant...

Picked up my refurbished 305 axle. Bloody hell ! Luckily its underneath and out of site. Makes the rest of the van look like shit. All painted up, even the drums. £300 and done in just over a week.

One of the workers there has a k reg Fiat tipo 2ltr 16v. Says it goes well. His Dad until he retired used to work for Williams and his sister works for the Forca? India team.

Now to get new sproingy things, got the shocks, and get it hoiked up and under.

Just bought the mandatory-for-Rover-owners 'fucked heater blower resistor kit' for a fiver off eBay to re-introduce speeds 1 and 2 to the blower for winter, which seems to be getting ever closer:

And finally attached my window sticker to the Streetshite - thanks ruffgeezer :)

This may have been a mistake, but the weather is nice and I don't care....

Lubed it up with some grease too so it slides in and out nice and smooth. Oh dear.

I have not tried my XM's sunroof yet, not really brave enough & I am not a particularly big fan of sun roofs anyway.

Took a fair bit of work to get it moving in its full range in both directions. Just make sure you help it along and don't let the motor take the strain until it's all moving freely.

That was astonishing. Puddlethumper told me the name of his specialist without typing.
