Bargain! Well for what they go for nowadays.

What is it? VCDS is a diagnostic program for VAG vehicles. Does almost everything a dealer can do. Essential for shit VAG products.

It's price was helped by being in completely the wrong eBay category.

Aren't Rosstech tightwads with licencing? last time I looked, they keyed the licence to PC and wouldn't transfer it to another one, or something similarly draconian, making 2nd hand units pretty much useless unless it came with the pc or you got snide software. In which case you might as well have just got a snide cable too!

I serviced the girlfriends Old petrol A class Mercedes yesterday as the oil looked more like old tar and it's never been changed while she's had the car and even the dipstick had rusted up so I chucked a bottle of engine flush in for good measure.

It was fun and games getting to the oil filter which had collapsed but all was ok and I put the 5 litres (with the flush) in an old oil can to take to the tip.

But today I got into work and the 13 plate DAF Lorry we use was bone dry so we couldn't drive it and it wasn't even showing on the dipstick and our diesel card won't let us have oil so I thought the only answer was to reuse the mixture of tar and flush and pour the 5 litres in the motor.

It's still running but I doubt it will do it much good.

Any updates on your own fleet?

Nah, I'm afraid not. Wife comes first and it's becoming increasingly expensive supporting her and keeping my own head above water. I doubt anything will be done with them until I get her over here.

VCDS-Lite aka the old version uses KKL cables. The official adapter for that is just a KKL lead. This is locked to a pc. Also this version only goes up to around 2003/2004. Basically end of Golf MK4.

Full VCDS does those cars too (more functionality) but requires a different interface. This interface is effectively the licencing dongle. So you can use it on as many PCs as you like.

There is different versions of the cable. The one I've bought can be used on car models released before 2015. Basically the new Q7 and new, new A4 aren't supported. It can be used on any number of cars.

They've just released a new one - HEX-V2. This is locked to the VIN of the car. Three versions exist - 3/10/unlimited VINs.

My one has been discontinued. So the one I've got actually has gone up a little in the second hand market! My mate bought the same one in 2013 for £190 off eBay. Not cheap, cheap but you can easily get your money back when you sell.

The one I have may not be the latest, but it's going to be good (especially for me!) for a long while yet.

Adding accessories to a car is a minefield as is well known to the eBay tat thread. I have put on one new old stock mudflap to the Mondy and I think I like it. Suits it's overall Gifferness. I think I'll just do the fronts though.

Whether a cock up or offer I'm not sure but 450ml of WD40 is £2.75 in my local Tesco. It certainly offers value when the 200ml tin next to it is £3.00! :-D

Did you check the sell by date ?

On WD40?  The production date is 06/05/17, as far as I know it doesn't have an expiry date.

I've used 40 year old WD40 and it's better than the new stuff. Which is not to say it's actually any good for anything, but it smells better.

I have never, ever, managed to finish a tin of WD40, they always vanish, almost as soon as I buy them.

Or you drop a brand new can off the bench and snap the nozzle bit off flush

Never had that problem, but I have similar issues with losing Stanley knives and tape measures. I always end up buying another one, only to find all the other ones I'd previously mislaid, precisely when I have no need of them. Ho hum.

A carpenter told me that the most expensive tool was his tape measure...

There is never enough propellant in WD40 tins...always seems to be a 1/3rd full when it runs out of puff.

You need to stop getting drunk on lubricant and hiding them under your bed

I never really thought about it but neither have I and don't believe anybody has. It's a conspiracy.

Tucked in the pocket behind the seat the same as last year when I didn't use it either.

Just spotted the J***OHG Jag here in Flixton that was for salenon here some time back. Who owns it now?

Posted

That's Junkman and Conrad's. Registered to the former but the latter is the custodian I believe.

Posted

Ah yes of course. I remember Conrad offering it up now.

Posted

Yep - it's a mid-term keeper now. I ferried a wing up north from Shitefest for it.

I started the Panda up today and it was really disturbingly clackity.  I really don't know why as all I did was push it outside.

Anyway I was trying to jump start it and left my jump leads sitting next to the car and this big fuck off sea gull came down and tried to fly off with my jump leads. Thieving seagull twat.

Thieving seagull twat.

Comin' over 'ere, stealin' our jump leads!

I chased it and it came back for another go too. I managed to scare it off with the well know seagull scaring chant of "hoy you fuck off".

Whilst off bored.. got round to removing the damaged speaker grill... its only took 2 years..

Yeah Egg nice one, but more importantly, do you gave proper Mondeo floor mats in it? ;)
