Kia unable to attend my tame mechanic. Tame mechanic came to me. Too late for a Saturday test so will probably go for test on Monday. 5cb398d4ef869a9f2fb71eec68a5e359.jpg

Glad to see you still have the Pride, not many of them left now at all.

This'll be here for the long run I think - it came to a tossup between this and the 205 recently and the Pride won. Wife likes it, I bloody love it, without doubt one of the best cars I've ever owned. Need to do a shootout with the Shuma... ;)

I went for a wander around the scrap yard earlier. I saw 3x Mazda RX-8s in there. One silver, one grey, and one yellow!

I also saw half of a Suzuki Jimny. Well, all the chassis was there, but the body was cut off behind the front seats.

I saw a weird Chinese(?) minitruck thing too. I took a couple of photos.

The badge looks like something out of Star Trek, but what is it? It looked complete, and in alright condition, but I guess it was bridged due to galloping chassis rot or some weird electrical problems, or something like that.

Forgive me for missing the Rover 800 in the background, I just noticed it now!

Is that Persley?

'Tis indeed! I've not been for a few weeks. I like to just have a random wander about now and then and see if any interesting parts turn up. Most of the time I walk out empty-handed, but it's interesting seeing what sort of chod is in there.

I have taken my BMW 328i E36 to the garage to have it MOTed but they say it needs some welding. They do the odd MOT patch but say it has been patched before and now needs doing properly and is too big a job for them. I am not after a restoration just a safe legal patch up for the MOT that will last more than one MOT.Anybody know a garage I can take it too? It still has MOT until 5th January so I can drive it there.

Bloody hell I didn't know the old E36 rusted underneath that bad

Because of your picture I've been straight out and had a look under my old cabriolet as to be honest I never had a good look underneath when I bought it but just gave it the quick once over as the arches etc looked good.

I've now pressure washed the underside and gone over the underneath with a rag and old engine oil and sprayed up inside the rear jacking points with a mixture of waxoil and spray grease.

Luckily so far all I found was a small stone chip which I cleaned up with a wire wheel on my drill and treated it with some krust but it's getting dark now and I'm covered in old engine oil etc so I will now sort the stone chip tomorrow and hopefully get to look under the front jacking covers tomorrow also.

I wonder if it's gone like that due to it losing its jacking covers.

I think it is because my car many years ago had a repair to the driver's side and there is a crack in the paint at the bottom of the C pillar as evidence. It had never been recorded as damaged but I still reckon it has been damaged in the past. It is 20 years old and the rear arches are quite rusty, but I do have some replacements I cut out of a convertible to fit one day.

What you need to do is buy a Kia Magentis V6 of mk2 flavour for the dull set!

The above was a miserable faux pas I meant the 'full' set but seem to have got it quite right accidentally :)

After whoever it was putting the fear  of God in me about sheets/blankets on the car (I think it was Bavarian retro?)  I went up to the garage and removed them from the (new name) BGBM so it just has its cover now, did the same to the Mazda and had a look and it is fine - no micro-blistering or anything and then went and had a loo at the hardtop which is also covered with a sheet...

It was sopping wet!

Like soaking. I took it off with much haste and expected the worst but after drying it is also fine so I 'seem' to have got away with it. The hardtop now has a sort of tent effort over it so protecting it from above but not touching it. Should be good?

BGBM is Big Green Bankruptcy Machine!

Just spent the last 4 hours fighting with the handbrake on the 45. Some daft twat had replaced the pads, but not fitted a slide kit and didn't bother replacing the split rubber boots.

This wasn't a fun job, but at least it all works again, for now. Heath Robinson has got nothing on the designer of the rear caliper setup though- I've not seen anything that convoluted in quite some time!

Brilliant. Looks like the Bedford Rascal lives on. A Chang'an apparently.

Appear to have royally pissed off the seller of said wheels, because I said I would be at his house in Wigan between 5 and 6 pm.

Left Derby at 3:10 and my phone free sat nav was telling me 4:45 as an eta.

At 7:20 I was sitting on the Thelwall Viaduct with a dead phone, (charger in car fecked for some reason) in a traffic queue where I'd just covered 25 Miles in 2 hours in, listening to BBC radio Manchester telling me that the queue went to Junction 24, where I'd need to get off, and so I decided to come off the M^ at the M62 and head for home up the M57.  When I got home at 8:10, I plugged in the battery off my wife's phone (she has the same phone as me), and texted him to explain and say that I'd come and get the wheels on Wednesday.  Apparently this has really upset his plans for the weekend.

Well sorry, but 5 hours in a car to do a 2 hour journey trumps any fucking inconvenience, my not extending my trip by another 2 hours might have caused you.

It's a real shitter when someone doesn't turn up and you've put things on hold though, especially with a wife nagging you. He'll calm down and they are very cheap wheels too !

Wifes new S90 is being delivered on the 20th Jan next year, which means my Accord coupe will be surplus to requirements when I get the hand me down brake disc consuming Lexus.

Any interest in a Raffle for the stylish* japanese (american) GT coupe at £5 a ticket?

Booked the garaged panda in for an MOT on Monday in preparation to sell it so an immense game of "chod juggling" ensued.  Only for the ungrateful bastard to have a flat battery just as the light was fading.  Anyway pictures of cars not parked on my drive:

post-17396-0-98710000-1482014944_thumb.jpgpost-17396-0-12098900-1482014992_thumb.jpgpost-17396-0-01854300-1482015004_thumb.jpg

I've decided not to put another car in the garage, it needs a proper sort out, probably on boxing day.

Plus my drive looks even fuller, and with three cars parked outside my house led by the Uno, I'm sure the neighbours will be very impressed.

At one point I had the requisite number of cars the council thinks I should have on the premises, it was a desolate and despairing experience.

Eventually the mk1 had enough juice in the battery to start and fleet was duly reshuffled.

Only good point was that the bloody y10 started and ran faultlessly.

While out mooching today I had a look at a 2.0 tdci galaxy. 59 plate, 60,000 miles. Very nice. Salesman tells me it doesn't have a dpf. Not sure myself. Having said that he did try to steer me towards a Renault grand espace or something. While looking there was an old chap with a really nice w reg primera a looking around as well. Got talking to him thinking about giving him more than his part ex. Turns out he was looking for a car for his grandson and wouldn't part with his primer a for any of this modern crap apparently.

The old chap has good taste! I also drive a W reg Primera as my runabout and also do not require any modern crap thank you very much. Bought it nearly five years ago for £550 after my faithful K reg Primera finally failed the MOT in a rather bad way. I'd had it for ten years, paid a friend £900 for it and it never let me done. Sold it to a breakers for £100 and they were going to banger race it, sob. In other Primera related waffle, was posting some cards yesterday and chap sitting on his bicycle lighting a roll up instigated a chat. Thought he might be a bit batty but he said I hate modern cars, I drive a Primera. So do I say I. Turns out his is a nice K reg 2 litre. He also drives an X reg Volvo 240 estate and has a Norton Commando. Turned out to be a top chap.

In less than 12 hours my LS400 will 'Mothballed' into storage for the next few months, leaving me V8-less.

On the flip* side, I'll be using 'Shed IV' (The 316i) until I finally get round to booking the Abarth in for it's service.

Snowflakes after a kitchen table refurb - shocking when bought but look reasonable now. Weather permitting will fit them tomorrow.
