Just booked a weekend in Paris for Retromobile in Febuary. How come they charge 16 euros for the whole weekend event and the NEC is £23 a day. I am quite looking forward to seeing all the french tat. Anyone else going ??

What's it like?  Sounds promising but the website is rather vague.

I have never been before but have been told it is worth a look. It also wins a few brownie points taking the other half to Paris. Not that she will have time to see much of it as it will be a whistle stop tour again

dont miss this when in Paris: http://autoshite.com/topic/19753-tagora-birthplace

Give them a call to announce your visit and a member of the association (most of the chaps are former factory employees and really know their stuff) will be more than happy to give you a private guided tour.

Despite being only three months old I have bought Charlie his first toy car.

Obviously he is still too young for it, but when he shows an interest in Adam's cars ( my eldest) I will give it to him.

It had to be a corgi, because it's what I had when I was small.

The Honda cemented itself in place as a fleet member today by shedding a piece of bodywork as I was driving to work this morning, leaving me scrabbling around in the dark and rain to find whatever the fuck had fallen off.

Looks to be some heat shielding from the front of the exhaust system, in good news the mysterious rattle from the front end at idle is now no longer a mystery and, more importantly, no longer exists.

press the right hand button (spanner symbol) and tell us what fault is shown- does this even work?

Bugger knows, I handed it back this morning, and the EML was suspiciously absent.

Not my car, not my problem!

Now the digital speedometer is working properly on the Mercury I took it for a good long drive this morning to make sure all was ok with the gear shifting/speedo related stuff. All seems well thankfully. Speedo reads from cold, gears shift smoothly and uses all four gears instead of two/three sometimes four. Used to bang down hard into first from second when speedo was non operational. All smooth and nice now. Woot!

But the fuel consumption? 😳

The 'check engine' light is still coming on with a code that relates to fuel pump/pressure. (The code that related to the speed sensor has now cleared after the new bit was fitted ).The car runs ok but exhaust does smell very rich even after a long run. Next task is to sort this one out, as 10 miles per gallon is horrendous. Should do over double that. The next challenge. The car is nice to drive and coming on well now. Very satisfying researching and fixing faults on a totally unfamiliar car. Every day a school day!

This focus is going to be burnt to death.

Mechanic changed vss, took them 4 hours to get the old one out! So bill for £159. Fair enough. Power is up, it doesn't stall.

To celebrate I fill it up with lpg. Except now the gas gauge does this

It's a full tank. So that's fucked. Except the Lpg is switched off when only the red bar is showing. It is an Lpg car that fucking won't run on Lpg.

So far into this car I have sunk £1200. For a shitty focus that keeps having new things wrong with it.

I either need to spend ££ to get Lpg gauge fixed ( which isn't guaranteed) or run car on petrol or sell it and get something else.

Worst car I have ever bought...

Today Rex moved by the time honoured tradition of the wheels going round rather than being dragged....

Now while this is a normal thing for ordinary cars to do, for a car that has sat immobile for 27 years this is quite an achievement.  Note the brick handbrake... .... Now all I have to do is move everything out of the garage into my new storage container....

Hmmmmmmmm there is an 1100 under there somewhere... should have it done by Sunday night as long as it doesn't rain...

Sorry, maybe not, but you seem to be trapped in a cycle of sinking loads of money into end of life vehicles.

How dare you !

Not normally an issue as I kind of like the cars. This focus sucks donkey cock :-)

I can see why they killed the Lpg on them.

EDIT - just done quick calculation and cost of cars over last two years has been about £125 a month for the car plus servicing etc. Not bad over 9 different steeds :-).

It's snowing in stoke, it was raining earlier so nothing will stick so no omgsnowchaos

Off on another collection tomorrow, a mere 5 hour round trip this time and I'll be coming back in the same car so it's not very exciting.  A nice Wales-based Autoshiter has been holding some shiny new wheels and tyres for the Prelude and I cannot find a cost effective way to get them home so an early start tomorrow should see them in my garage by lunch time.

Once they're on it, time for the tracking to be done and a good thorough clean and then it's going up for sale.

We got the snow here in Loggerheads (TF9),dogs are out in it trying to catch the snowflakes !

Not long in from picking up a set of alloys with AT tyres on ready to slap on the P38.The 18" wheels it currently wears are in mint condition, and it would be a shame get them messed up with the salt we can soon expect

The oil leak that popped up from the dipstick has been sorted with a new O ring.

Gave it a full filter change whilst I was at it,and sorted a bit of a water leak that appeared every now and then in the drivers footwell

The P38 has had a new screen at some point, and I assumed water was getting past a seal somewhere

Loads of extra sealant didn't seem to make any difference, turned out once I'd gone to change the pollen filter that the drain was blocked

10 mins poking and cleaning the leafy crap out and I reckon it's sorted !

It came but didn't stick down here in Shropshire.

On Monday I'm taking a large van down to a site in Essex (somewhere near the Dartford crossing) and will be finished work with an empty van by mid morning if all goes according to plan.  Is there anything worth doing down there before I drive back up the M40 or does anyone want owt shifting?

This evening, I met a stranger in a supermarket car park, parted with some readies and picked up a cheap old Dell laptop in pretty good nick, the theory behind the purchase is to use it for diagnostics on the cars.

I had a quick snoop, and just before the seller went to meet me, he closed two tabs, one was for watching full episodes of Frasier, the other was for pornography.

Ick. Best get the disinfectant out and nuke the hard drive from orbit, just to make sure.

I am curious though as to which order he used those two tabs...

I've got to take a mate to Leighton Buzzard in the morning to collect this V6 ZT he's bought on ebay, it was strong money at £1300 i thought but it's only done 45k and is a nice colour, He reckons he can get most that back from breaking his current ZT. I'm looking forwards to seeing it, Those have really grown on me in the last few years.
