Love that Volvo. I've had both a 440 and 460 in the past and they are cracking cars.

Could possibly be interested when you come to sell Rob...guessing it's a 1.7 being the earlier shape and auto?

Yep, 1.7 normal auto.  The interior is the best bit, beige and caramac everywhere.  I'll get better shots when I collect it.

What's weird, Lukas, is that it looks like the front wing matches the windscreen surround but the rest of the side of the car matches the roof.  A friend of mine had an Escort with this issue where the dark grey metallic panels looked different shades even though they were all the panels it came from the factory with.  Something about paint direction and dark metallics.

Funny, isnt it?

Both wings are new, painted with the correct paint-code. But as the car lived almost 25 years in Vienna, I don´t think a lot of the colour on it is originally from 1989. A dent was repaired, some scratches painted, a small accident happened and so on, so I guess most of the paint on the panels are of different age. Maybe I´ll paint it sand-beige or green or maybe even have it wrapped. Maybe like that:

Fiat 126 has passed its MoT again - advisory on front wheel bearing and back brakes are at final adjustment. Otherwise, as good as gold. For a Fix it again tomorrow, it never seems to surprise me just how cheap it is to run.

Swapping the 405 seats into the Xantia is simple and complicated.  405 seats are pre-airbag and are slightly wider than the Xantia seats, the airbag issue isn't a real problem as I still fancy fitting a single spoke pre-airbag XM wheel (£30ish from eBay) which would mean disabling the airbag system anyway.  The width could be, the Xantia seats are already a tight fit to the centre console.  I've also got to swap at least one base/seat rail over as Moog chopped through one to remove the seats from the car, it also looks like the floor fixing for the seats is slightly different in the Xantia to the Peugeot but that the seats fit to the rails in the same way.

I'll figure it out once I've got the passenger seat out of the Xantia to play with.  Then there's the onerous task of removing the dashboard to try and replace the blown bulbs and find out what's going off with the dash fan.

FFS. Our local motor factor doesn't stock 13" wiper blades. Despite the fact that apparently this is Land Rover Defender size. Guess the Nippa will be keeping its cut-down XM blade on the back for a bit longer then! Same framework, I just swapped the rubber over as the actual blade was pretty banjaxed when I got it.

Also, the heater resistor gubbins has failed on our 11-plate Peugeot Boxer minibus. Again. Third time! It's only done 37k miles. Absolute rubbish. It did randomly start working again later in the day, because FRENCH.

Roll-on hometime though, as I'm in the ridiculous Ami today. I should have used it yesterday, as it's gloriously sunny today - perfect 2CV weather. Oh well.

My Fregates have been collected and will arriving in the UK via eurotunnel later today. Then transported over night down to Somerset. Fingers crossed they make it after the 24 hour delay due to a puncture. I must remember to bring my camera in tomorrow as I forgot it today which is typical as the Munga has been in. What a fun little machine that is, I don't think I would like to own one mind 60kph is pretty much flat out  or at least the screaming noise coming from the poor little 3 pot 2 stroke makes you think it is.

I love pre-facelift 400s. I almost bought a 1992 460 GLT in 2000, but opted for a 1994 Rover 214Si instead, something which I regret.

I think i might be going mad, I've agreed to go and view a car tomorrow which is totally not what i was planning on viewing and is over my budget by a fair bit....

Since a kid I've always wanted a Mk1 Cortina, It's probably those rear lights but i just think they look great, I've never been able to find one that i can afford though, but then tonight this turns up on Facebook.

It's a 1500 Super that's in the next town, I've seen it about a lot over the last few years as the owner works at the Docks and takes it to the same shows as me, Looking online it was sold by Bonhams in 2009 as having only 23000 miles and i saw it again at Beaulieu autojumble in 2010 with 24000 miles and a £5950 price tag.

It's now up for around £4000, which i think is a fair price although he says it needs a bit of bodywork, I'm not sure what. It's £1000 over my budget and it's not the sub £2000 classic that i can use as a daily that i was planning on but Mrs Trigger loves it.

I'm not sure that I'm doing the right thing but I'm viewing it in the morning. Here's some photos i took a couple of years back.

Oh, go for it, if the finances will stretch - you'll not lose money come resale :)

Today's garage development: the Range Rover failed its MOT; both front wheel-bearings kippered.  Not even a mention as an advisory last year...but at least they're cheap enough things to put right.  In comparison, a colleague's 60-plate Merc A150 had a FTP last night - borked starter motor - and the bill for that will be over £600, once VAT and widgets have been thrown in.

The oldest I know of is a G reg in Shoebury. There's still a few around.

I had to do a starter motor on an A150 the other week £600 is probably about right as you have to drop the engine and subframe down before you can even see the starter. Best to fit a genuine one as well as the pattern one GSF supplied looked totally wrong. Those A classes are a nightmare to work on

That's horrific - so much reordering just to get at the wretched thing.  Clearly Mercedes hired the same engineers that designed the front of my now-sold Audi A6 (bumper off to change bulbs).  Think I'll stick with cars which have engine bays with room enough to stand in.

The best bit was the RAC left the side lights on when they dropped it off so the battery was flat when I went to do the job. As it doesn't use a proper key you have to use the emergency key blade to open the doors when the battery is flat. If this hasn't been used in years you will find that you can't unlock the poxy thing. Jacking it up to get at the starter motor and power the battery up doesn't work as you can't get at anything under the car. I ended up having to open the bonnet catch from underneath that wasn't that hard. Then I had to disconnect the electric power steering so I could jump lead on to the power cable back to the battery. So if anyone is mad enought to own an A class never let the battery go flat.

Just sent a message to buy another car as none of mine work.

She is going to kill me but I fucking hate cycling on the road.

Doing a school trip this morning. Pupils and teachers wander over to the bus.

"How many seats are on the bus?"
"24, that's what was booked."
"Oh. You normally send a bigger bus out."
"Yeah, but you booked a 24-seater for 8.30am. The bigger buses are on schools just now, you don't normally leave until 9.15am which is why you get a big bus as it's a bus which is returning to the depot about 3 minutes from here, as opposed to me having to run down from the other depot 30 miles away."
"Oh... I'll go and get my car then, will I?"
"How many are actually travelling?"

"27".

Simply stunning.

Having remebered to bring my camera in today I thought I better share a couple of pic's of yesterdays job.

Mungas were made of the same kind of awesome as the Steyr-Puch Haflinger.

"Classic car tax

As earlier announced, the rolling deadline for classic car VED tax exemption will switch to apply to all cars registered before 1 January 1976. Great news for owners of old bangers!"

Obviously not my words.

Another Munga.

I had one, till fairly recently.

Bloody hated it. Unusual, for me.

That'll the the end of that rolling I reckon. Just found CAR reporting that the Severn Crossing toll was to be abolished. Sadly, they're wrong, though it will be a little bit cheaper from 2018.

Today I attempted (rather half arsedly) to 'Vulgalour' my cars and my mates T-reg Corsa Breeze. As he has a driveway (which is accessed over the grassy area next to the road) this meant easy access to wallplug so no stretching of hoover cable. Did the Merc, Micra then started on mates Corsa.

Mate knows absolutely nowt about cars, a car to him is a means of transport, he used to own an MR2 which he bought new, never serviced or washed it and drove it until it broke. This poor little Corsa has never been serviced or washed or looked qfter at all so cleaning the inside meant using a dustpan and brush before the hoover! As these cars have carpet which can easily keep a hold of dust and dirt it prooved a little challenging. When I drove it onto the drive it wasn't idling correctly when moving along.

Some water and soap was chucked over the thing but the attempt was in vain, having only a very limited supply of rags and car cleaning stuff meant my own standards were simply not met, from afar it looks nice and shiney but up close the painwork still has flecks and ingrained dirt which a good blast of a high-powered jet wash might help to get rid of. Nevertheless, a slap of tyre and plastics shine saw it looking at least a bit better than it actually was.

He is talking of selling it oddly enough...

Trigger - buy that Cortina.  It's gorgeous and looks well worth £4K.

Well, as you asked so nicely...

Yep, It's mine! It is really tidy and at what i paid for it i couldn't not buy it. Believed genuine 25000 miles from new, the seller paid £5950 for it in 2010 (after i saw it at Beaulieu). It drives really nicely and the attection it gets is even better than my Mk3! The rush hour traffic just pulled out the way for me!

Here's some photos I've just quickly taken.
