Are they still a celebrity if you don't recognise them?

I've always assumed that if I don't recognise them they must be a celebrity.  It's one of those words whose meaning has changed to now be 'talentless feckless wonder with nothing between the ears' rather than 'accomplished actor/musician/artist/philanthropist/other individual of note'.

They are only a celebrity if you don't recognise them.

I hate ebay, I got into a bidding frenzy in the last few seconds on that blue Yaris, I bid £830 then 2 seconds later i got outbid at £850 and then it finished. I would have paid £850 too!

Ah, but it wouldn't have ended there, the other buyer might have been prepared to pay any price because it matches his wife's varicose veins or something.

Starlet ! That fiesta looks like it's getting the std mk3 rust in the centre of the door shut. God knows how they rust there but its the beginning of the end.

Starlet !

I've just placed a £500 bid on it and it's now met it's reserve, still 8 days left to run though.

It's annoying when you do that, as this now means you can't bid on anything else for 8 days or until someone outbids you.

You don't need to enter a bidding frenzy, just enter your highest bid, i.e. £850 then if someone else bids £850 with 2 seconds left you get the car because you bid £850 before they did.

(Pretty sure) if you did find something else in the meantime you can retract your bid, there are a number of valid excuses you can use that ebay provide in the drop down box when doing this.

I bid a highest bid of £801, I then got outbid with a few minutes to go so decided to go the extra £29, in hindsight I should have just upped it to £850 but like Steve says, where does it stop? It not the end of the world though, I still need to sell the Merc really.

Stick with a 190, it should outlive that lot of superminis.

Removed the fuel sender from my sd1.

It looks spotless (as it should in a bath of solvent) and I cannot see anything broken.

A secondhand one beckons.

Seriously considering a bid or two on that 280ZX posted on ebay tat thread. Had a few of those over the years and I am rather fond of them. However, dog is set to cost me £2.5K tomorrow or the day after and I'm feeling a little low in the funds department.

But, you only live once and all that.....

Starlet SRs look great - I especially like the (usually white) ones with the little Castrol-inspired 'SR' decal set.

The fuel gauge used to work fine in it.

Indeed. I think that's where I am at the moment. As I've pointed out, so much of the car I bought in 2000 has already been replaced (in stages Mr DVLA so it's all legit) but somehow it is still the same car to me. I have been pondering a somewhat more creative colour-scheme for some time though. There aren't enough hand-painted, hippy-style 2CVs about anymore. And I'm hoping that several layers of brush-applied paint may help protect the bodywork...

That's all going to take time to sort out though, so I reckon my priority will be to get another motor. I'm quite prepared to SORN Elly for a bit so I can enjoy another A Series for a bit. It's many, many years since I had another A-Series Citroen on the road. In fact, I don't think I've managed it since buying this one in 2000. A few projects have gone, failed to improve much, then moved on. Oh, hold on. I think I owned a Dyane for a bit when the 2CV went through its first rebuild in 2002/3. Possibly.

If you do hand paint it, consider using Tekaloid.

I did the GS with it and it came up exceedingly well.

Used to be easily available in motorists shops but haven't seen any for a long time - not that I have looked or frequent motorists shops much these days.

And just to negate the FIAT purchase I have agreed to buy this, again from pictures only. Well, just one picture actually.

I always wanted a set of those alloys for the Cavalier but seeing as it's still awaiting me learning to weld and I don't want the Corsa attached to them, I'm oot.

Diesel in my fleet for the 5th time in something like 500 cars.

I still don't like diesels but 195 bhp almost justifies it :)
