Do you have any phase 1 interior bits?

I'm not sure how phase one differs from later cars as regards trim, but I'm in the wrong country. Junkyard also lives in Ireland, so if he wanted anything it would be comparatively simple to get them to him. (No messing with customs)

I've gone and booked 2 MOTs for next week, one day after the other for 20yr plus cars. Probably not great planning that.

I was literally watching that (or rather the animated recreation of it) story this afternoon... it's a small world sometimes!

It’s one of my favourites. Even when I just had the audio version it was one of the few things I could picture in my head!

Phase 1 dash 👇

Sellers absolutely bumrape buyers for phase 1 parts. Last complete ‘GTi’ dash I saw for sale was over a grand, when it was more likely from a GE, XE, XL or GL as it had no glove box lid nor centre console. There are also differences in door cards, interior plastic mouldings and I think seats, certainly the fabrics used if not frames etc.

1988 facelift gave the phase 1.5 (same exterior styling but TU engines in cooking models and a new dash) 👇

IMG_0773.jpeg.bb49170efda0a0d1fc7463d42428fc6b.jpeg

Phase 2 the dash tended to be black not grey but same type, and there were changes to the exterior (lack of gingercators, different rear lights, BE3 gearbox on diesels and GTis). Most models also had a GTi style steering wheel near the end of production.

I’m more than willing to import from a non-UK/GB RHD market as when I have seen them price inc. delivery has been a lot lower, just wasn’t at the time able to pay for one! I am now in that position as the glove box panel on mine is beyond repair.

Willing to take the customs & excise on the chin if it means not having to pay a scalper!

A lot of the early stories really do show that you don't *need* flashy modern effects - a damn good story is still a damn good story.

I've not followed any of the new version beyond David Tennant's era.  I just couldn't gel with Matt Smith as The Doctor.

Having finally got our home media server working (after years of headaches with the network eventually traced to a five port switch I'd forgotten about buried behind the TV in the master bedroom being configured wrong) I've been getting the whole lot on there - though getting the specials wrangled properly with regards to series numbering is a pain.

My husband hasn't seen any of the original incarnation, and we really need to fix that at some point.

It really is hard to convey to youngsters quite how revolutionary a thing that Dr Who was in its day.  My folks also conveyed how bloody terrifying the Daleks were back then simply because they'd never seen anything like it.  Very like the Borg when the first surfaced in Star Trek TNG.  You couldn't reason with them, couldn't fight with them, retreat was the only option.  TNG was airing when I was a kid, so that's what really sticks in my mind.

I think all the stuff I have is phase 1.5, but I can't remember having a glove box. I will look in the shed later.

The most recent episodes with Ncuti Gatwa have been a thorough disappointment with one or two exceptions. We switched off many of the episodes part-way through and struggle watching them again on iPlayer. The second series was much more palatable. A lot of it was the Disney influence and it felt more like an American high school Glee club than science fiction, the story ‘Lux’ being a notable exception and a very original story to the series. As someone who started watching 1980/1 with parents and remembering things from Tom Baker’s final series first time round, it was awful to watch.

Disney has since been binned so hoping the 2026 Xmas episode will be reasonably good and back to substance over style.

Sorry, as I thought, no glove compartment.IMG_20251101_144017.jpg.e037ac1ff01da3720b91363c6a976c4b.jpgIMG_20251101_144026.jpg.363084767c2818ab8849fdeca80418c1.jpgIMG_20251101_144033.jpg.fbd72a2cdea716d0eb82e40ec955996d.jpgIMG_20251101_144131.jpg.771dcd42be727892449cee68ff2e2371.jpg

Also, there's the same GR door card for a lhf door. And a couple of wiper arms.

If you or anyone else is interested in anything, let me know. The bits wouldn't be very expensive, post at cost, and there'd be a customs declaration put on them for any duty to be paid in the UK.

The man that I bought my 205 from broke 2 others, but instead of useful parts he saved loads of plastic trim.

Thank you for looking, it’s all phase 1.5/2 stuff so won’t be able to fit to mine without substantial modifications. Still fetches decent coin but because it’s much tougher than the original spit & kleenex materials of phase 1 interior it’s still quite common damage free, or with minimal wear.

@calebaaront there might be a few bits for your one here.

I think it needs a bit more research first, as he’s the type that gets preyed-on by garages

So, ring round elsewhere first? Oh, can’t, it’s Saturday and all shut now, fail.

The only thing I can think of that I need is a cup holder, I’m sure I’ve seen someone with a cup holder that goes into this blanking plate, I’m not too sure though! I’m not even sure if a cup holder was an option for a 205 😅

I don’t ever recall anything being fitted in there as standard. Not for the UK market at least.

I'm flying to Belfast this evening to bring back circus shite. Looking to get train from Spalding to Stansted which turns out to be a non starter because of mass stabbing on train from Peterborough to London. Look at buses, no go. Have to get a taxi which costs £150. Luckily circus paying.

It was my birthday a couple of days ago.

My family came down from Kent and we went for a curry. Next my aunt revealed she made me a cake.

Service time again for the couriering Caddy, number 30 in my time with it. It's come round rather quick, 36 days/10345 miles since the last one, I'm supposed to be taking it easy these days, but it's silly season on the work front at the moment.

20251102_155543.jpg.a023b0b4e90beab6c7eaf2ed2366238b.jpg

Nice and easy to do, a 19mm socket for the sump and a 32mm socket for the oil filter housing. It takes nearly as long to get the van on the ramps as it does to do the service! I'm down to my last 20 litre tub of Mannol 507 spec oil, the prices don't seem as keen any more, I paid £50 for the last lot, it's over £70 now. With the bulk purchases of filters I pick up whenever I see a good offer, the service cost just £19.67.

It's not looking too shabby under there for saying it's nearly gone to the moon and back.

In other news the Pisshat passed it's MOT yesterday, just a couple of meh advisories.

I'll probably put it up in the for sale section soon, if anyone fancies a top spec, £35 a year tax, diesel estate with towbar, then give us a shout. I've just got to get round to cleaning it. Since Mrs P got the XC90 it's hardly being used.

What sort of money? My brother could do with a sensible family car given he is 6ft 9 and has 3 kids, all of which are well above average height for 9, 7 and 5 years of age.

I'd be wanting £2000 for it.

I have now been a passenger in an eMontego. Quite a pleasant car to be in. Particularly enjoyed that it has a rev counter*

I see you also have the rusty top to the fuel filter housing. The caddy is the only PD I've had it happen to (Owned 4 or 5!). Very true about ease of servicing too, when I had the caddy and the octavia, it took 45mins to service both (oil, air, fuel and cabin filter), but about 20mins of that was getting both cars up/down!

I often think about taking the fuel filter housing fully off and treating it with something. I've never done it for fear of breaking the fuel lines. I've seen a black soil pipe end cap fitted over the housing before, sounds shit but it did tidy things up.

Fully agree on the servicing, these PD's are so easy to do.

This afternoon turned out nice, after a fairly dismal start to the day, so I was able to finish clearing out the garage and get the Renault 6 put away for the winter.

It's a rather tight fit with the boat in there too but it does just squeeze in, although I had to climb out through the tailgate.

Yesterday I went to the classic auction at King's Lynn.  I took the Rover 75 - partly because I wanted to check that my brake fix a few weeks back has worked.  It seems to have done the trick - there was no squealing from the offside front at all, so that's good - I'll probably be taking it down to my parents' at Christmas so I want it running right.

There were quite a few Rovers out and about yesterday - I saw no fewer than four 75s (although I think one was actually a ZT) on the A47 on the way to KL, and I got a wave from a chap in a red 200 Tomcat on a single carriageway section.

Quite a few Rovers / MGs at the auction too, including this facelift ZS 120 which intrigued me.

I know Project Drive was in full swing by then, but I didn't think keep fit windows in the front were a thing even then!

I dipped in and out from time to time online. Some stuff seemed to go for good money.
The collection of identical  SL350s were mildly interesting (two seemed to go cheap but I didn't see them in the flesh - maybe two too many identical cars in the sale?) but I was really looking to see what this went for - bit more than I thought tbh but auction prices can be weird.

Clean pass too. I assume it wasn't pissing fuel from the shitty plastic Amazon filter when it went through the test. That must've happened on the way home.

Lobbed on a metal one that was off something else that I found in the garage. Seems to run fine but I'm happy to entertain reasons as to why kittens may die due to this frivolous parts swappage.

So once it was sorted, drove the Volvo down to the garage where the Nissan is getting it's MOT tomorrow. Then popped into the Mazda that Mrs Imp had followed me down in and got taken back home. Once home, I hopped into the Audi, drove to where the Nissan is kept, parked the Audi up, jumped in the Nissan leaving the Audi in its place, drove the Nissan back to the garage, left it there and then drove home in the Volvo.

So after some shenanigans it's all ready for MOT number 2. I assume the universe will realign itself and suitably rinse my bank account, as there is fuck all chance of it going as well as the one today. Thing's like that don't happen to me.
