Pics of the finished items. I now have two spare wheels with ageing tyres to play painting skills with. Also, as @Stanky wrote earlier, the ride this morning was very smooth with no comedy tyre squeal around roundabouts.

Kerry and I took Rodney Mini down to the Riverside in 'Boro for the first meet of Teesside Retro Cars.

and it was a very nice run out too, though the warm sunny weather made it.

we stopped to a bit before heading off to B & Q for some turps, as there is still some painting needed at home.

and while there we saw these, rather fabulous cars.

I've just bought some cheap " Magic erasers" which just appear to be blocks of some form of foam , the ability to remove  ingrained grime from light coloured textured interior trim is nothing short of astonishing !

No I didn't take any pictures sadly !

As well as the cars above, these too were also on show at The Riverside, an eclectic mix to say the least, from a Rover Metro to Escort Cosworth, and an Sierra Cosworth with many ,many shiny things added under the bonnet, to a Ford XL which was almost the size of an aircraft carrier!

Rodney mini is currently running about bob on too, just as well since we have bought tickets to the Mini and Metro show next week at Gaydon. So that will be a 180 mile (one way) road trip in a car i don't quiet trust. Though saying that its just the indicators that keep playing silly buggers, with oddly the drivers side more prone to working only intermittently!

Old cars, doncha just "love" them!

Some strong contenders for the parking thread there!

Yes, they're very good for removing marks on painted walls.

basically melamine foam I think.

Having felt dreadful the last couple of days ( no, not one of the kinky dwarfs), I seem a lot better today and making the most of warmer weather,

I'm not going blind am I? There is no centre cap on this wheel is there?

It was a Peugeot (obviously) 208, I think. How do you balance it if there's no hole in the middle? Does anything else have wheels like this?

Yup, my Espace and the R25 it shares its wheels with, for starters.

You need an adapter for your balancing machine that goes through the bolt holes.

Bienvenue en France.

So I'm guessing you have to bolt the wheel to the adaptor then put the adaptor on the machine or vice versa. Either way it sounds like a palaver, I bet tyre places love it when they come in, though it must be a tiny percentage of all vehicles. If all cars were like that it would cost a lot more to get your wheels balanced.

We received an SD card, not in any packaging, in the post loose in a Special Delivery bag.

Its got what looks like a private name and address on the bag.

In these days of inventive scams could this be a scam?

Our computers all run Linux, so I think we have little danger from malware?

Your name and address or someone else’s? I’d chuck it in the bin after cutting in half.

Good long run (150ish miles) in the Pontiac today. It was even more comfortable than expected and just ate up the miles! Having auto in the usual M6 car park was rather nice too...

Actually really do like this mad old bus!

My mum was telling me how nice my brothers new (to him) 69plated Merc A Class is. I think that’s her way of showing her disapproval 😂

Apart from the fact that I'd drive any car if I was given it, a 68 plate A class Mercedes is my idea of ultimate polished turd on wheels.

Apologies if any of you have one.

Out of idle curiousity I'd probably plug it into my old Linux box to see what's on it. Disconnect it from the web.

Cant see it doing any harm* if you load it through the terminal with minimal services loaded.

*maybe not.

Citroen were notorious for this. My c5 had centreless wheels, and were a real pain .

Old renners did too. Because French.

They couldn't balance my tyres on my C5 when I got them off Blackcircles.

It may contain images no one would want to see. I’d bin it.

I seem to recall this unsolicited SIM thing is some sort of scam, but I can't remember if it involves infecting your mobile phone....
