Did I dream it or did Audi actually toy with CVT transmissions at some point in the 1990s?

^ The voice of experience!!

Indeed. And I still choose to freely associate with others who buy them too

In the 2000s and 2010s too.

Plot spoiler, they're pretty shit and break.

Yes, they seem generally best avoided whatever they were fitted to. Nissan Cube owners seem to advise running for the hills. Oddly, you could specify the Cube with a proper automatic as well. Odd.

Woke up late today, sat on the sofa with a cuppa & just woke up again.

So much for sunday AND my cuppa is cold.

Could you really? Sudden increase in interest in the most interesting Nissan since Datsun.

How can I tell? I mean in adverts etc, it would be obvious if I was driving one.

Gear selector apparently. PRND on CVT, PRND21 on Autos. It seems to be a three-speed with overdrive. On the one I drove, it was hard to tell to be honest. It was about sixty times smoother than the Honda.

My friend and I both own Hondas*, though his is the newer model.

Edited to add:

On my way back home I passed someone A-framing a Morris Minor with a Mk4 Vauxhall Astra estate.  Passed them twice, in fact, because I had to stop and buy screenwash, annoyingly.  There was also a Renault Scenic that had caught fire on the A1.  I didn't have an opportunity to photograph the silver XM estate parked outside a hotel near my friend's house, which was disappointing, nor the Jaguar XJS out in traffic, nor the Mk2 Seat Ibiza that looked brand new that overtook me somewhere on the A1 near Newark.

"Papa!"

You know I never did see that advert.

So yeah, I somehow now own a Renault Clio Baccara 1.8 MANUAL?!?!?! Professionally done when it was 6 years old, never sold here with a manual box. It shifts! I lit the wheels up twice coming back.

Full leather interior and suit carrying parcel shelf intact. Typically everything broken in my RT-D works in this one.

Holy crap.

I have absolutely no need for this, and your house is the furthest I've ever collected a car from, but..  Dibs?

Just watched the channel 4 thing about Bentleys. I am now sad... it seems to prove that Bentley (VW - spit!) really do know their buyers as it was just tasteless shite with a Bentayga badge on it.
