Was recommended by kiltox. I umm and arr and it went out of stock last year. Took them 8 months to get them back in stock. They've only got 100 or so left at the moment now. Btw, you don't need to buy the jacking pad as one comes in the box. Annoyingly it wasn't clear, so I ordered one but now have 2 pads!

For me, it's biggest selling point is being able to raise to 520mm. No other jack for similar cash came close. My Lidl jack can only go ~420mm or so and isn't enough most of the time.

It's flipping heavy though. Really have to lift it properly so you don't do your back in.

^ got that one, agreed it's top notch all round and makes the other stuff I'd used previously feel like toys.

Can't you jack it up with something?...

The yellow MG ZR of disappointment, which has been out on loan for the last couple of weeks, is now apparently losing coolant.

Yay.

Fortunately not a lot so far, I can remain hopeful it's a small leak somewhere, inlet manifold maybe.  We'll see, will have a poke at it when I go round later in the week.

You don't have a lot of luck with k-series Phil?!

Good choice of jack, SiC.  It never used to come with a rubber pad, I bought one on ebay that I swear is just a hockey puck with a bit cut out of it!

Mine has been given absolute hell since I bought it and it's still going.  Needs seals changing really due to leaving it loaded for days a couple of times.  Got a seal kit somewhere but never bothered.

My only complaint is that it's a bit too heavy to lift. I need to lift it out of the garage and you have to be really careful you don't damage your back.

I am home. We were in Dublin this morning. Quite knackered. 650 miles the final total.

So are you going to be Focus-ing your attention on modifying it now ala; Monturdo?

VW Taros keep popping into my head for some reason.

When was the last time you saw one. If you've ever seen one?

There was one on a farm near Towcester until quite recently, well haven't actually seen it for 4 or 5 years, come to think about it.

Thing is ,it was the most abused pickup I've ever seen , no tailboard and the sides were sort of pushed out from having heavy things put on top of them . Always filthy and with the missing tailboard and general crustiness it was only the grille that gave it away. Looked a bit like the TopGear indestructible Hilux ( after they blew it up) just green and 2wd.

I must admit I like the look of SGS gear.

I tried jacking up the Streetshite on Sunday with a nasty 2T Silverline jack I got off Amazon for £15 and failed to get it up high enough to slide the axle stands in to the appropriate holding positions. A bit of bodging with the spare wheel and supporting the car on stands at the front enabled me to slide in to get at the oil filter, but I was in and out of there as quick as a rat up a drainpipe.

I'm deffo gonna get me one of those 3 ton bad boys - payday Friday, just hope they still have some left as I know stocks can be erratic at the best of times.

I'm thinking of getting the two ton version of that SGS jack + stands

Not sure about their jacks but the gas struts they do don't last very long

That was the problem I kept having with my Lidl jack. It just wouldn't go high enough for me to be able to get my stands in a reasonable place and even enough height to get them in on the lowest pin hole. The crappy wheels on it kept bending too.

Their eBay listing I have found is pretty good for keeping track of remaining stock levels: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171028680739

When it went out of stock last time, that was bang on when it did on their main website too.

I need a new trolley jack too, can't decide between the 2 ton and the 3 ton. Think i might struggle to get the 3 ton under modern stuff as they're so low.

I used to love my 3 tonne jack but at 30 kg it was a nightmare to lug about.

Favorit is waiting on a Polish chap to arrive and transport it to a new owner in Stroud. He's in France at the moment, with a load for London, then back down to me and off to Stroud. These guys earn their corn. I'll be pissing around with emails and a few Word documents today and moaning about it!

Once again, The Volvo's ability to carry a double mattress has proven useful:

Transporting the new one home last week was a much easier proposition:

It's amazing how much they pressure pack these new mattresses!

I wonder what the process involves? Something big and industrial, no doubt.

I gave away my brand new 3 ton Halfords trolley jack in disgust because it wouldn't fit under my brand new Golf Mk4.

That was a mistake. I should have kept the jack and given away the Golf. (Jack was nearly as heavy as the Golf)
