After the axel is returned I intend to have the whole van lifted 2 inches.

Let me know when you are ready, I know a chap who is an expert at lifting 305spost-19511-0-93436200-1500145653_thumb.jpgpost-19511-0-27578000-1500145728_thumb.jpg

Long time no post from me, bought my first house and dealing with all the things that come along with it...(Who knew buying furniture was so expensive!)

The good news is, I have a garage! As modeled here by the 316 'Shed'...

post-19988-0-47709700-1500146749_thumb.jpg

Even has power and lights fitted! Ideal for late night tinkering!

It also has a driveway which can fit at least 3 cars, meaning I'll have my shite at one location other than scattered across 3!

And could't help but think of Autoshite when buying appliances...

I always knew having a collection of random car badges would come in handy one day!  8)

The house it's self? Rather dated, especially the kitchen & bathroom but very well kept and no problems. Ex-Giffer owned and all that...

Hopefully once I've internet sorted out I'll be able to post more tales and fun.

Owning your own house is great for when owning crap cars. You can get the drive, doorway and walls all dirty, oily and not worry.

Nice garage, glad to hear it has living accommodation attached.

The house is definitely decent.

I stayed there last night and didn't even slightly die!

Me, 17-Coffees and some other friends stayed up until about 2am drinking and playing a Raspberry Pi Playstation Emulator through a projector using a sheet hung on the living room wall.

Crowd-sourced Gran Turismo 2 was amusing. As in, we would pass the controller around after each race. We ended up with a red Supra MKIII turbo with a huge turbo and 3-spoke wheels. :D

I have 3 cars at the moment which is about 1/2 a car too many so am considering selling one of two of them. The normally blameless Z3 passed its test on Friday with no advisories so the Merc is probably up sor sale. I hate selling cars...

If anyone is interested it is a 1989 Mercedes 300se auto, presentable rather than show winner, MOT Jan, 198k miles but uses no fluids, drives well. I'll do a proper ad when I clean it and get some current pics, car lives at Redcar in NE England.

For once I'm actually content with my car collection. I wouldn't mind another BX though.... Maybe semi expressed interest in one already.

There is an amazing Mitsu Colt for sale about 5 minutes from my house.

Seems that Facebook are trying to cut down on the scammers.  An opportunity to be silly NEVER gets passed by yours truly.

Quite why he can't take a landscape photograph of a landscape object is completely and utterly beyond me.  Looks fairly nice, but it's gonna be a WORLD of pain to get anything required for it.  PS what happened to the Autoshite Colt?

As another excuse for a road trip, I visited the Reims-Gueux circuit yesterday. Travelled over and stayed near Calais on the Friday night, but as the Eurotunnel had 3 hour delays we didn't get to the hotel until 3.30am. Car of choice was the Cavalier as it proved the better all rounder for the trip being fast, quiet and economical.

It's definitely worth a visit, and it also meant we could do some champagne and plonk purchasing at the same time. Before going I bought a Liber-t tag (didn't know UK residents could buy them until I googled it) which made progress through the péage easier.

There was another slight delay on the way back due to a car FTP on le shuttle. Not by me though, but someone ahead of us in the queue when disembarking. I guessed Renault and was right, a 54-plate Scenic dCi!

Washed and polished the fleet today. A rare treat for them.

Just fitted a new exhaust as the old one was knackered. Will update my thread sometime, there's still loads I need to do to it but it's still awesome.

Decided to bring the "new" modern home today. A bit of champagne motoring on lemonade money this one. Cost me £4k, because thats what the parents got offered part-ex when they went to buy a new car. I wouldn't usually go for something like this, but it was cheap (for what it is) and it placates the wife wanting something a bit newer. Certainly much prefer having this over some financed Qashqai or similar she was looking at. Also means I can continue to buy crap chod in peace.

Why was it so "cheap"? Well because ...

To be fair, it drives very nicely and feel very solid, Germanic and sophisticated. Given the mileage (nearly 161k), its still feels new and has worn the miles very well. Not even the interior paint has scratched off, like German cars of old. Even for the devils fuel, its pretty quiet and smooth - still shame its not a petrol. I won't deny, I quite like it.

I was supposed to pick it up at the end of next month to mid September, but decided to leave the Civic at my parents and give this a bit of a use considering I've just bought it. Will bring the Civic home later instead, once I sell the Smart and cleared some room up on the drive.

Doing a couple of hundred miles to the Lakes today has thrown up three observations about the Rover:

  • motorway MPG is shit.
  • spoiler isn't held on by much except shit old silicone, and one end of it is loose (whoops). Needs sikaflex.
  • tracking is off. I've been suspicious of this for a bit but the wear on the outside edge of the nearside front tyre says I'm right.

Went back oop north for the weekend. Spent the vasty majority of my time up there drunk but spent some of my hungover time working on the Doloshite. Actually got the fucker to run by gravity feeding it petrol straight in to the carb, unfortunately it starts and then immediately revs up uncontrollably unless I switch off the ignition. Is this due to the current fuel delivery system causing over fueling or is something in the carb stuck?

Turns out my brand new fuel pump had decided it didn't want to work and is dead, have refitted the old one which seems to work but didn't get much further as the battery went flat before we could get a good amount of fuel pulled through to the carb. Either way if we can get it running all it needs is the throttle cable replacing and the clutch system bled and it can be driven for an MOT...

I also drunkenly drove my Civic down a field while camping in an effort to bring my FM transmitter close enough to the tents/fire to be able to listen to the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack on a radio. Nobody is quite sure how I managed it without blowing a tyre as I drove over a burnt out bed frame, rocks , bits of scrap car and some cutting discs on the way, jumped over a ridge and also hit a beater Ford Focus leaving a baaaad scrape on the Civic's O/S/F door and minor scrapes to the rear wheel arch. I also MAY have hit a Fabia estate and a semi-stripped Transit van but there is no damage to my car to prove it and the Fabia and van are already so battered it's hard to tell...

There's a lesson about drunk driving in there somewhere.

Right, tell me if this is a thing for anyone else. Why is it that whenever I'm looking at buying a certain car I start seeing them? This is the second one that someone I know has found and photographed in the wild this week.
