I saw one of the new Discos in traffic today. Are they out yet? Frankly it looked crap - it's got the tapered end of the Range Rover, which doesn't work, and the offset rear number plate just looks like it's been fitted on the wonk.

I said exactly the same about the wonky plate. It's not far enough off center to look deliberate.

Also I'm not sure why we need the Disco, Velour, Evoke and Actual Range Rover all of which seem to be within about 2ft of each other in length.

Nice fix.

If it were me I'd turn those clamps so that the bolts aren't sticking down.

Today I organised a meeting with my fellow directors of Full Throttle Classifieds dot com

We want to take on ebay, autotrader and MCN and advertise 20,000 bikes (at any one time) at 1/2 the price of the cheapest of these thieves and bullies, whilst donating 20% to a bikers charity, which gives out grants to injured bikers to modify their chosen steed.

It is clear that

  • our website isn't ready for testing
  • We have no money for marketing and advertising
  • we now have a plan
  • I need to contact 10,000 dealers and bike forums whilst Paul, our IT monkey, gets the website working, properly, and offer them a crowd funding deal which gives investors equity, in exchange for free adverts for ever.
  • I have never ever sold anything in my life.

For all my bravado, I think we might struggle to take on Autotrader Plc with a budget that is less than they spend on urinal bleach blocks.

Still this time next year Rodney we'll be millionaires. Maybe. Note - I have a small stake so if we make £1million quid I can afford to stop doing the current day job and do that instead.

First off good luck, the only concern I see is you are approaching probably 80% (Guess) of your market offering them one off payment for all their listing of stock forever.

Can you get the advertising in on a sliding scale (pence per visit) with motorcycle gear sellers (clothing, helmets and all the rest) just a fresh viewpoint and no I have no idea how I would do it.

Finally, good luck!

I'm a web based software developer at work! Not qualified or owt but been doing it a few years. If you need a hand out of hours with stupid monkey testing, uat or testing to spec let me know! Would be happy to help and I might learn something.

I've bought another car, that I don't really want.

Anyone want a fun little 1.0 Auto, 34k miles?

Apparently that V reg Rover 620 Ti is available again and I've now been offered it for £400 delivered with no mot, the last mot 2 years had a advisory for a corroded rear brake pipe which a mate thinks involves removing the fuel tank to change.

I'm not sure it's worth the effort as they don't seem to be worth sod all so i might pass on it.

I have to say, I can highly recommend Rover 600 ownership - mine is growing on me by the day, its very nice to drive.

Proper British torque steer, though. No one will be able to foam as quickly as you.

I've got a bit of experience here. If you've no money it's still possible to make an impact using social media it just takes time and patience.

Lots of people have tried going up against autotrader but they're basically a marketing agency for a website that sells cars and bikes with a huge budget.

A few years a go a group of dealers got together and built competitor website but they just can't live with the marketing budget autotrader. it might be different with bikes but the "it's aye been" attitude of dealers makes it difficult to make them put the effort into anything else unless you can prove it sells, which you can't do until you get critical mass.

I'd look into making it really easy for them to add stock and images to the site via smart phones and build a tool that lets them upload their stock lists from excel, csv or what ever otherwise it'll be hard to get them to engage.

I decided " Italianjob" didn't really cut it in describing my fleet anymore. Not unless Richard Woolley is in fact from Livorno, Or Dr Alex Moulton's country seat was by Lake como. So in recognition of my growing collection of British TAT I've taken inspiration for a new username from the former name of my favourite car museum.

Blimey does that mean you are sticking to BL products or will you be changing you name often!

I am a bit concerned we have 3 out of 4 matching cars!

Rover 75 – tick

MG ZR – tick

Rover 100 – tick

MGF – I seemed to have got mixed up here as I have the Jap version.

Interestingly our IT director recons that he can make it automatically upload any advert to the users facebook page.

Struggling to get motivated to anything whilst off sick, the sunshine prompted me to tax the Panda with the twin sunroofs, peel one open and take a drive to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. After google gave me the wrong post code, maps got me there for the last hour of opening.

Making my own "art".

Still, the dog loved it and was excited by all the smells and spent most of the walk on full stretch of the lead.

Went kickboxing tonight - had not been since November because of my asthma.

I have been letting it rule my life - it can fuck right off.

The 1973 & 1974 blocks were legislatively dealt with by a line slotted in the annual Finance Act for the Budget to change the date, but last year they altered the relevant section in VERA 1994 to save them "forgetting" putting the clause in. The date doesn't so much roll as clunk forward in 12 month blocks.

Best thing I ever found for asthma is learning how hard you can push it & working that hard till you're knackered. You'll find your breathing improves quicker than your fitness

It's hard to do this unless you build a facebook app they run on their facebook page or they give you their facebook login credentials .

I work in a similar industry and this stuff comes up all the time .Facebook don't help by constantly changing the goal posts .

. If I was you I'd run your own facebook page with specific interesting bikes cherry picked from the site posted a few times a day. Have a look at how right move do it for property for a good example of how to do it right.

Your IT director is just using a Facebook app and making you all think he's very clever.

Definitely true.

Took the Trafic to work today.  The steering repair seems to be holding; the gear lever not so much, but then the bush was pretty shagged so I had a feeling it wouldn't last long.  Still, sloppy gears aren't an MOT fail, and it's still a model of precision compared to, say, a column shift Midi or a Mercedes T1.

That's pretty impressive actually.  Probably the most realistic sculpture of a spaniel I've ever seen.
