Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 With the impeding delivery of my Aprilia I have little space in my crowded garage. And I realise I just don't have the time to sort out the CZ 250 I have had and barely touched.I bought it so I could ride it down to see my mates in the Czech Republic two years ago, but being busy I had no time to do the few jobs it needed done (I used my 125 Yamaha scooter instead).I bought it as a runner with MOT, but it leaked smoke from the exhaust gaskets. The owner had rebuilt it with new bearings and stuff (no proof of this, but from our discussions about it, I had no reason to doubt him).Registered in 1983, its generally in good condition, with very good alloy engine casings and wheel rims, all of which will polish up nicely if that's your bag. Few of issues to sortHeads need tightening down as they leak, (but I got new head gaskets Included)Leak at the barrel/exhaust joins (new gaskets included)No key for the steering lock (can be drilled out so you don't lock it accidentally)Had to break the seat lock to get the rusted seat offNot 100% sure that the indicators work-simple wiring though.Tank a little bit rusty inside, but this is Czech built, so the steel is good and thick. On the plus side it comes with a good seat with decent base and cover. Fitted a really cheap 6v battery about 18 months ago that still has a charge in it. Tyres are good, brakes are bloody horrible, but that's how they were from new. 13,500 miles on the clock, but God only knows if that is right. Spares are easy to get hold of from Czech Republic, and are cheap. A steering and seat lock are about £4 eachI really would like it to go to someone on here, as I'd hate to stick it on ebay so open to offers -if no one buys it outright, maybe a roffle? Photos I took today will follow seem to be having trouble attaching them. Cavcraft, doug, CreepingJesus and 1 other 4

bezzabsa Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Heaven!!!!Love em for how simple and strong they are!!! fancy a skoda diesel?????
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Much as I'd like a Skoda, I've no room due to the Saab, the AX and the Mingebag Mercedes taking up more than my parking allocation. Forgot to say I'm in Essex, 25 minutes from J8 of the M11 & 25 minutes from J28 which is M25/A12'
Fabergé Greggs Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Oooooo very nice- would delivery be possible into London?
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 No longer have a van, but maybe something could be sorted IF my brother is calling down yo Sarf Lundun
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Horrible to some extent, but would have been better to ride this to Czech Republic and back than the Yamaha 125cc Vity with its 4 litre tank that i did ride. As for price, how about 375 for starters-or does that sound too much??
wuvvum Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 I rather like these. I bought one off a friend of Spottedlaurel's a few years back. They have a nice vintagey feel to them with the narrow tank and flat seat, and they buzz along quite nicely for what they are (i.e. not an X7). Jerzy Woking 1
CreepingJesus Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Dribble... (For the C-Zup and the 900SS)
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 As Wuvvum says, they do have a vintage feel and although this one was built in 1983, you'd swear it was more like 1963. It even gives the smog of 1963 from the exhausts. strangeangel 1
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Dribble...(For the C-Zup and the 900SS)The 900SS is a joy to ride-it is not powerful or very fast, but it covers ground very quickly. The CZ doesn't but is exciting to ride being equiped with the brakes it has. CreepingJesus 1
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Spares availability for CZ here:http://www.jawamarkt.cz/en/ Not much you can't get for any of their bikes. CreepingJesus 1
CreepingJesus Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 If memory serves correctly, the top bloke in the British Jawa/CZ OC rode to a factory anniversary of some sort in the early noughties, on a 70s Simson moped for a dare. From near Campbelltown. Took him a fortnight. Last new one I saw, was one of the late 90s Aprilia ones, with the wee fairing and modern switches. It had the look of a grandad in a shell suit. Something not quite right there. Shame they didn't go down the same route as MuZ, because genuine vintage vibe would probably sell now. Good luck with the sale! I'd be all over it, but I'd get my balls in a sling if I turned up with it...! DodgeRover 1
bezzabsa Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 big brother to the Bantam based-ish 125's.....think its basically a 125 siamesed together IIRC...some of their 50's models were gorgeous
Jerzy Woking Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 I went to the Jawa factory a couple of years ago - excellent collection of World Championship winning speedway bikes from the last few decades. Very knowledgeable staff there, very enthusiastic. Also saw the boxer twin they made (very similar to the BMW R45) but never knew they existed until that visit. CreepingJesus 1
CreepingJesus Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 The former Jawa/CZ dealer in Kirkcaldy had a genuine 1976 (I think) ISDT winning CZ400 enduro. Really, really special bit of kit, beautifully (hand) made. Apparently it was utterly terrifying to ride.
martc Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I've posted this elsewhere, but please note you can still by a brand new 2 stroke Jawa 350. http://www.jawamotorcycles.co.uk/ CreepingJesus, Cavcraft, stephen01 and 3 others 6

castros_bro Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Should have kept mine Oh! I have - Type 477 oil master - TLS - no nasty premix - usual webbing holding the seat on after drilling out the lock. My local police used these Jerzy Woking and CreepingJesus 2
martc Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 350's were normally lugging sidecars about... Like this (available new, did I mention that?) - the one in the photo is the 'modern' styled 350, the Classic in my previous missive is also available with a chair. Jerzy Woking Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Due to overstocking my bike fleet I've all but run out of space in my garage so something has to go AND SOON. The CZ is the one bike I bought for a particular reason which past two years ago, so in true AS style it will be sold for much less than I paid for it. Anyone interested in this at £250? I would roffle it at £4 a ticket, but don't think there are enough bike enthusiast here to warrant a roffle, let alone finding the time to organise one. details of what fettling needed is above, but will (probably) start with a bit of fresh petroil (oh, how I've wanted to write that word). Open to offers or swaps, but no cars (I've three already and I only actually need one).
Fabergé Greggs Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Stop it man!! Loads of want for this. Did you ever find out if your bro could deliver?

bezzabsa Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 would an offer of £200 be too insulting???maybe able to scrape the full£ 2 1/2 if delivery if availabubble.... DY54LP if u wanna check.. Cheers Jerzy Woking 1
Jerzy Woking Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Well Jackytwoshoes has first dibs on this, and is only a mile or so from my work so that's the space vacated in my garage ready for my Aprilia just after Christmas. If Jack changes his mind I'll let others know. Thanks. strangeangel 1
