£250 anyone?

Where is it now?

Worksop Notts. Did 400 miles today with no new problems. If anyone wants to take it on I will delay CTB until tomorrow afternoon but it will need collecting PDQ as it is blocking my friends drive. Still taxed and MOT November I think

Is it manual or auto, wondering if it would donate its gearbag (if auto) to get @Mrs6C 's one going?

Think the auto boxes were rare as rocking horse do do..

Went through my mates BIG box of keys and amazingly found one for the roof bars so they have been saved. Local car breaker beat CTB with an offer of £280 so they are collecting tomorrow

Collected the transport home from a bit further south and despite 2 years  it drove back to my friends place at around 60 miles and was quite happy at 52 mph

Of course the first job was to raise the roof

Next job was to make it a bit more subtle and also redo the grill

This went on it’s last journey this morning but at least it has gone to a Citroen fan where it can provide bits.

Sadly I am currently at the top end of the M6 siting the AA - suddenly coughed and spluttered and lost all go

Fuel pump knackered from sitting?

That is my guess. AA have quoted under an hour but due to high demand 😀 might be 2. That is to get me off the hard shoulder to the services about 300m away 😀

Oh bugger.

Yeah, my money would be on fuel pump, crap sucked into the fuel system or fouled points based on it making it that far after sitting for a while then suddenly dying.

If it seems fine again after it's cooled down, suspicion points at the condenser on the distributor.

... Though sitting at the side of the motorway it's pretty academic as that's not the place for tinkering.  At least you've got a hard shoulder there!

Cough and splutter before dying = most likely fuelling.  I wonder if you could hook up a cheap electric pump from a local* factors as a get-you-home.

Fingers crossed the AA don't take a million years to get to you.

cheap electric pump

Also of use to potentially clear out the lines, should that be the problem rather than the lack of pumpy action.

Because Im a sad loser I've looked it up and I think these have a mechanical pump. I'm therefore more inclined to go for the clogged up lines.
If the AA bloke wants to get his hands dirty there could be hope?
Eta or ignition related of course....

Yep this has the mechanical fuel pump but the previous owner had also fitted a back up electric pump, allegedly to help prime after sitting. The fact the electric pump is fitted before the mechanical and still goes through it makes me think it has been showing symptoms before.

AA have arrived and dropped me at Gretna services so now waiting on a van to try and fail to fix it before waiting on the big yellow taxi

That's a Renault 'B' truck for uninitiated. Details here:

https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_Gamme_B

Looks like it's a camper now  started life as a box  van or utility truck - foreign plates?

They are RWD but use the FWD Master cab.

Least if you break down in a camper you can have a kip in comfort. Looks like you can do your laundry too...

Eek.  Best make sure the sump isn't absolutely brimmed with fuel then in case the diaphragm has failed in the mechanical pump...

As had evidently happened with a certain P6.  What came out of that sump was truly disgusting.
