Count me in!

 

My intention is to come by train probably on the Saturday and head home on the Monday (because fuck travelling by train on a Sunday). Lift from the station or a loan of something shite would be very much appreciated. Will most likely have a greyhound (on lead) with me.

I plan to start driving on Thursday and arrive when I arrive, and leave late Sunday and drive to my dad's for the day/night and get home Tuesday. Whatever happens happens, happy to help pick people up from train stations etc.

 

Ill need to go shopping when I'm there, won't drive 400 miles with a heavy car

The old guard of the Scottish contingent will be travelling north from the Glasgow area on the Friday lunchtime / afternoon so if you want to get a train to Glasgow, Perth or Dundee then we can pick up on the way. We'll be heading back on the Sunday evening though.

I might add, I will not be going anywhere near a motorway, instead consulting my intuition and Bartholomew maps for routes. Beats me why anybody would take a motorway, especially when the North up to Scotland boasts some of the most impressive scenery in the Kingdom.

Unless we are up for a truly shite gear style race to the north, bike vs car vs train, I'm sticking to the motorways and just getting there! Meeting up with people on the way if available.

 

Tbh daz, if you want I could drive up to yours Thursday and convoy up with the ASMM during Friday if you want and if I can kip on your sofa?

I'd use motorways at least till past Leeds, then the scenery gets better.

I want to be up north (which to me is probably Derby) by 4pm, then have dinner etc and a big poo then carry on when it's quiet again

I'd try to get a bit further, the M1 past Derby is a hell of speed cameras & variable limits. It's also infested with fucknuggets.

To be honest, the M6/M74 offers some spectacular scenery even from motorway.

It's a lot better than some yeah.

 

alcyonecorp. and I had a wonderful run down the M6 from Carlisle to the M61 at dusk last year. The views are pretty good on a nice day.

 

I'm happy to do whatever if there's a convoy going, maybe there should be a Northern Powerhouse meeting point where we can join on to anyone coming from further south.
