I too keep watching for the inevitable advert.

Me too…

This will be the scenario when it occurs!

Side note- ive chased up the banger racer for a backstory on how his father in law got hold of the shad, and am awaiting the grandson of the first owner getting in touch re his mothers recollections +/- photos

Meanwhile the  son of the original owner appears to have been a colourful character. As well as a powerboat racer, he appears also to be a racer of the earliest TVR sportscars..

Doctors often wilfully neglect their cars as they are so busy with the sick.

Yes I have tried that as well, but my Rolls Royce came from a Butcher!

Its lovely to drive- distant burble, lovely smooth shifts from the gearbox (you hear the engine note drop but dont feel anything) finger light (one finger if you wanted) power steering ( with very little feel) - but so usable for a car this age. Its a full on barge but id rather trade the sharper experience (relatively) of the shad II for the detailing of the earlier cars. Soooo relaxing to go around in. It feels like im piloting a boat- sounds dreadful but if thats your thing its great! Its quicker than i was expecting. A very gentle car to drive.

Dare I say this is beginning to look like a keeper?

Just go into Hazeldine Butchers order 1 lb of sausages, 4 lamb chops and a Rolls Royce. I believe they are sold out of 20/25’s but still have 20 HP's in stock!

Then try a Dentist for a check-up, filling and a Rolls Royce!

RE Rolls Royce pins stripes, My YTS was in Dudley next door to the then RR dealer, saw a RR pull in one day with an old geezer in the back - got out holding a small wooden 'case' , found out later off the mechanics he was THE RR pin striper was 88 and they wouldn't let him retire...watched him do the stripe on 1 side in 1 stroke.. this was 1982 and he was on £100 Per Stripe...NOT car but stripe, so Easy £200 and fully chauffeured everywhere too

Yes that is a very sad tale. Rivals of old but south-west football clubs are a rare beast and Torquay has a rich history. I don't know the full story but it was mentioned on my Argyle forum. I hope something can be done to save the club.

One of them told me my next should be a hillman imp, which isnt a bad idea! Less hassle than moving a beached oil tanker, for sure.

The planets are aligning.

Comfortable quiet waftiness is what big luxurious cars should be about. Indeed it's what they were about until all this daft Nurburgring wannabe Top Gear type shit meant everything had to handle like an MX5. Hence low profile tyres on everything & often crap ride comfort.

Most of the fleet seem to have survived, including #1 which although crashed, was repaired and lived on.

#2 seems to still be around, or at least parts of it…

Do you live near Torquay? As I’m Paignton.

Yes.

I don't know quite how it all works but lots of companies seem to have very convenient letters.

The first letter is a country identifier and the rest seem up for grabs.

G- Uk, D- Germany, N-USA, etc

Nike had N-IKE and some wrestling type had N-247WWE.

Used to live other side of Torbay - Maidencombe way. I worked in Westlands School (aka The Spires) - moved to West Wales in 2006 (via North Dartmoor for 5 years).
La Sproglette has followed The Gulls forever and is a bit miffed at the latest news  - touchy subject (I'm not into footie at all)

Some further Cassir trivia….

Thanks to Ken’s entry in the Goodwood members meeting race in 1959, that early TVR has more sales kudos….
