I think it looks quite funky in white. Did it use to have blue lights on the roof ?

I skipped p38s and went straight to the L322 as, to be honest i wasnt keen on the styling compared the classic, or the horror stories. It seems the styling has grown on me, and im ignoring the horror stories. So I bought a p38, a '98 2.5DSE auto in Niagra Grey with a beige leather interior. It was a lot more economical. Until it died. A mechanic who did work for the local constabulary stated they stopped using RR's as engines were a service item - some were on their third motor in 100k. lesapandre 1

He was also a Hampshire farmer, albeit it wasn't his primary occupation. I don't recognise the reg though. If I have any other unhelpful musings I'll let you know. 😄 lesapandre 1

So i got hold of an old number plate that had the key older characters i was after, and added new old stock one of those that were missing. I then aged the too-new looking NOS ones with some wet and dry, took it all to bits, and drilled and reassembled. So the shad shed has a bit of a 70s sweeney / long good friday era look to it…. Cool job. Is there a guide anywhere ( or book even) as to what type of number plate style is appropriate to what years ? I'm interested in this stuff but know nothing about it. Cheers

I think it looks quite funky in white. That looks great. I really think the P38 shape has aged well. In many respects I prefer it to the "classic" 4 door.

I remember reading that set of Sam Glover articles as I wanted to see how someone who really knew how to fettle cars handled one but I think it beat even him? I think his was a full air suspension 4.6 v8 though wasn't it that have the issue with thin cylinder walls?

Paying attention to this one, I like the P38 Commercial idea 😂 Sort of the antidote to my modded RRC which has a boxed in boot that makes it hard to get anything big in there. lesapandre 1

HMC Posted February 18, 2024 Author Posted February 18, 2024 Ive removed the load bay liner in preparation for the rear seats ive got coming off e bay. Having had 2 RR classics in the past, i was a little bit wary/ having the fear about what id find. Turns out the boys at lode lane did a great job of not making it rot. Actually the whole car is incredibly sound. my then 17 year old classic was eye wateringly crusty in these bits that are blemish free on this 27 year old p38. So its not as iconic; but it doesnt dissolve so VIGOROUSly either, at last bodily if not electrically. Coprolalia, HillmanImp, brownnova and 27 others 30
