Cosworth hearse or Millemium special edition Ka or Focus. In glorious yellow.

are you going to try to complete the while ford range circa 2001? That would be pretty cool. Like Pokemon cards , no doublers.

Frog eye scorpio with petrol sucking 2.3 engine, rusty arches and little hope of another ticket.

Further clue- certainly one of the longest ford make-model-trim designations of the last 25 years.

Ford Scorpio Ultima Cosworth?

I was secretly hoping it would be a Probe. ..

hmm... 25 years... so 198-- no wait.  1993 onwards.

Ford Orion Ghia it is then.

Close on an agreement on this one but I’ll just put this aside until the deal is firmed up.

Meanwhile, sportka 1.6 se vs puma 1.4- which if either would you choose and why?

I'd like a Puma,  they are pretty and are supposed to drive really well.  I haven't bought one yet because they are too small, too rusty and any I've seen for sale are too new for classic insurance.  The SportKa is worse on all fronts, I can't see many surviving till 20.

Never owned either, but interesting question.

If it was the 1.7 puma, then no contest, Puma easily wins.

However as pitching the 1.4 I'd say the Streetka just pips it.

I also understand the SK's rust for fun everywhere, not just rear arches. So finding a solid one could be fun.

I would go for the SportKa as you would always be wishing that the 1.4 Puma was the 1.7.

Then again, I did seriously consider a Puma but I just couldn't quite get excited enough about them. I think the Fiesta dash put me off whereas the prefacelift Ka dash is a sight to behold.

I had a 1.7 Puma, it was amazing. I loved it. If you can find one that isn't too rusty it will repay you every time you get behind the wheel. I wouldn't bother with a 1.4, its really the engine that makes the Puma something worth getting excited about.

Here is it in Northern Spain. In the end it needed a load of suspension bits and I needed something bigger so it went but I regularly check ebay for them.

Both, then take a spare driver or A-frame and drop the Ka off at the tip on the way home. There’s simply no competition, the Puma is the only option here.

SportKa's rot as a full time occupation, its their primary function in life. I'd have the Puma for being slightly less willing to rot.

I love a Puma but I'd agree that the 1.4 will probably be disappointing in comparison to the 1.7, no idea how good or bad a SportKa is mind.

There's a SportKa for sale near me, claims to be a 1.6. Looks tidy on top but I know they rust for fun underneath.

Still contemplating Puma vs sportka here. Contemporary write ups seem very positive about the sportka, and there is a certain appeal about it being the more obscure, less obvious choice. Plus I’ve had a Puma 1.7. But the Puma has this great reputation (aside from rust at least) hmmmmm.

Anyway I’ve come to an agreement on the mystery car. Think I mislead a bit as when I wrote “longest make model trim designation” I meant more in length on the page rather than duration in the sales brochure.......

Ford escort 1.8i 16v Ghia si 5 door...... and breathe!
