NEW New new new New top gear ON HOLD, RIP?

First top gear I've started to watch in years. I managed about ten minutes before I switched it off. It's just yobs breaking cars.

'I don't want to stereotype but Quentin/Jeremy/Timothy & James possibly isn't quite the right cross section of presenters to present a laddish motoring show is it? Calling them Jezza & Tiff didn't fool me, and when they started breaking Austin Rover cars for laughs, that was the end'.

I've not watched it yet, largely as I cannot abide by Paddy McGuinness......

He's just a loudmouth knobhead,

Agreed...the other two are just about bearable.........Flintoff is an amiable oaf, and Harris does know his stuff.

Yeah, McGuiness is not my favourite. I quite like Flintoff, he comes across quite well and obviously knows why he’s there - the comic relief.

Harris knows a lot about cars and has grown into the role (no pun intended).

I like Flintoff’s choices in challenge cars - he should be on here really!

The Chrysler LeBaron convertible he chose in the last (I think) series was just pure top level shite, no question.

I have to say that this is probably the best series that I've seen in years. That surprises even me, as I'm still not really convinced by Paddy, but I'm really enjoying it this time. I missed the first one but the others have been genuinely entertaining.  I also appreciated that nothing was destroyed this week, and a really good tribute to Sir Stirling Moss (which of course bought out my story of when I met him).

I still read the magazine, and was concerned when, rather than the usual 10 or so pages about the new series coming on, it barely made 2, that maybe even the magazine wasn't impressed. But, I've felt that it is finally coming in to it's own. Just in time for the last of the series next week! If the BBC can just manage to keep the same team and style for the next series it should be ok. But, we've been here before, and then they change everything.

I like the current three.  I liked Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid, too.  And I liked Clarkson, Hammond and May.  Though they were beyond stale towards the end.

Perhaps I’m just easily pleased?!  It’s just an hour of harmless telly with a tenuous motoring link on a Sunday evening.

I liked the moss segment. Some brilliant period footage of the Mille miglia. 1955 wasn’t all that long ago but seems a whole other planet!

Sorry to sound harsh, but all efforts to revive the former bestselling British exports from their graves fail spectacularly.

Top Gear is only one of the many. Yes, it was repetitive, yes, Clarkson plays a role of a total idiot, Hammond is a disgusting weasel, May is a pub bore.

But, man, it worked all around the globe, not only in Whitley Bay after midnight when the no-brand lager becomes scarce and the blokes switch to smuggled Ukrainian vodka.

Tonight at 8. Seen a clip of a Bedford CF1 with monster truck tires  (@eddyramrod)

Last of the present series. How was it for you?

Looks like they’ve channelled  David Bache in the dash design in that honda

What a load of bollocks. Worst episode in the current series.

Agreed.

How many more fucking times they’re gonna say Mr Nippy?

Are we all watching the same thing? I thought this episode was quite good, and indeed this whole series has been the best for a while.

Shame they can only manage about 4 episodes a series nowadays.

The latest series was great but today’s episode was shit. Not funny, not entertaining, not informative.

That Honda’s dashboard would distract the fuck out of me. Who wants an aquarium on their dashboard? Anyway, Jaguar got there first by putting two fish tanks on the front of XJ40s.

Bangers and mash in a cone though. Life changing.

I liked it but I'm easily amused. Disappointed not to see one of the new cheap MGs in the electric car bit though.

I really enjoyed this last episode seems they are telling with each other a bit more now than before. I stopped watching top gear a while ago but am going to have to go back and watch some older episodes

Honda E.In a market awash with gopping over styled shit it's refreshing to see a clean crisp simple design that actually looks like a car.The dash is totally appalling  tho'.As for the programme, the highlight for me was Harris calling McGuiness a massive ring piece.Accurate and to the point.

I definately agree with the general consensus that McGuiness is unbearable. I did like this series though and I like Harris, because his opinion on SUVs is the same as mine and he came from motorsport and actually knows how to drive!

I enjoyed the whole series. It was nice to see electric cars being driven quickly instead of solely concentrating on the range like most reviews do.

I like the Honda E, and I also liked wheels on the Mini!

Only saw the last 25 mins, but enjoyed it. I don’t mind Paddy at all, not sure why all the hatred, maybe it’s because of other stuff gameshows etc he does. I’ve never actually seen him in anything else since Max and Paddy.

Chris Harris adds some legitimacy to the proceedings , being a proper car journalist, as was Clarkson and even May, of course.

Not sure where Flintoff fits in, he’s basically doing the same shtick that served him well on League of Their Own, he’s amusing and likeable but I can’t help feeling there’s  a hint of bullying just under the surface.

My verdict : Best Top Gear series since about  2012, or when Clarkson and co. got boring.

This series is the first one I've watched properly since the first Chris Evans series. Personally, for me, Matthew The White was the problem more so than Evans. Evans tried too hard, but he tried.

Anyway, last episode was the weakest of the series. McGuinness is grating on me now as he's just a chav in denial. Constantly going for Ford's, and is far too complimentary about Vauxhall.

I tried to watch it, but found it highly irritating. Most of the hour was taken up with the stuff about an ice cream van V a burger van, with McGuiness constantly screeching inane drivel.

For me, he is an irritating twat.

I watch without fail ,because there are cars in it. Heck, I even sit through Bullit just to see a black Dodge Charger. I do really like the serious bits- Stirling Moss,  group B, etc. Wish they would make full length programmes like this. Anyone listen to the Past Gas podcast? Same thing... brilliant subjects presented by utter tits..
