Ergo, the 4litre beater club is established.

Assuming it's the HE that means....

 

5.3 divided by 12 = 0.4416 multiplied by 9 = 3.975l, works for me but I'm not a member yet.

It was decided* thusly at the inaugural meeting:

 

Thou shalt have a vehicle badged/ sold as having a 4litre engine. It does not need to have exactly 4000cc.

 

Multiples/divisions are allowed up to 1.8x the 4litre standard but must be contained within one vehicle, although not all litres need necessarily power said vehicle.

All 4litre beater members will be entitled to race in the 'single digit mpg trophy' at a Club GLF event to be decided.

 

The Chairman's car (resplendent with picnic tables) can be seen on the right, the Treasurer's vulgar pastiche of a Japanese Mercedes is present in the middle of shot, blocking the view of a vastly superior Volvo.

As we said after the commoners had left in the Austin, if the Daimler turns up to a fight the occupants will cheerfully beat you up whilst commenting on the weather. If the Lexus turns up to a fight then you're in trouble as you're about to get a samurai sword inserted into places where it shouldn't go.
